In the heart of the village of Powys, The Penrhos Arms is a short drive from Machynlleth and offers views of the valley and the mountains and parking is free. The bedrooms, while modern, are decorated with antique furniture. They all have tea/coffee making facilities and one room features a four-poster bed. The Penrhos Arms serves modern, Welsh dishes, made using local ingredients. Meals are available every day, some at lunchtime and in the evening and a breakfast is served every morning. The beach is a 30-minute drive away from The Penrhos Arms hotel and there are many walking and cycling paths for guests to enjoy. Camere: 5

Comfortable hotel in peaceful surroundings. Well managed and friendly. More variety of breakfast. Fruit and yogurt rather than just cooked and cereals. Better lighting to read by in bedroom.

Booked a deluxe room, nice and spacious, pleasant staff. Restaurant was closed as sister hotel was fully booked with a wedding, limited bar meals available. Even though it was only September rooms felt cold, heating should of come on at 5pm but nothing happened. Kettle in room did not work and was said it would be sorted, nothing happened. Shower not very powerful.

A down-to earth country pub/hotel with good food and reasonably comfortable rooms in a very good location for touring mid-Wales. The bed had sagged on one side and needed attention. This should have been picked up and fixed before we were shown the room.

We arrived early for check in but mangeress spotted us waiting on car park and came out to make us very welcome and took us to what was a lovely room straight away.very comfortable 4 poster solid bed [we could have not have slept any better on a cloud] lovely meals attentive staff could not fault any aspect of our stay

Appeared charming at first but... The bugs, lots of littel crawling insects...noticable only the next morning. Also disturbing was the prior guest's soap and hair left in the shower

Being a business trip I had not expected to have to make my own bed from a pile of linen in the room - perhaps OK for walking hols etc. Menu was poor - no steaks no gammon and neither pie available, and whent he chicken came it was dry and surrounded by congealed cheddar. Breakfast not served until 8.30 so had to miss it to make a reasonable start - although in fairness I was offered sandwiches. No other cars in car park next morning suggests I was only overnight resident. Not a place for the business traveller or the gourmet.

Rooms superb and very clean. Food plentiful.Staff friendly and accomodating. Joined in the quiz that evening and enjoyed that too.
