Location Staff were friendly. It was a tired hotel in need of a re-fit. Room was dirty. Smelled of TCP. Dead fly on window sill Broken window so unable to close it at night. Wallpaper peeling around window. Breakfast bacon swimming in grease, all round tastless food.

The location was great, not far from the coast and lots of places to visit nearby. The fact that Wi-Fi was only available in the lounge and not in the rooms. There seemed to be a damp problem in the room we had.

Extremely welcoming and friendly staff at the hotel who were always keen to look after us. Very helpful with secure storage of our cycles (in the gardener's garage!). Lovely grounds and nicely set back from the coastal road. Rooms were good size, well equipped and clean. Food was excellent in the bar for dinner (there is a more formal restaurant too) and the breakfast was fantastic in quality and range of options. Nice touch in the drawing room after dinner to have a "bottomless" coffee service. Minor quibble but it would be nice of the WiFi was extended to the bedrooms.

mainly it being dog friendly as this is our main reason for booking a place. Out in the country side, ie no noise. Friendly staff and no one was in a hughy. Poor shower in the room, it operated when it felt like. Television handset had seen better days, could do with replacement. Shower in the bath is not an excellent idea for older people.

Very warm and welcoming staff. All very helpful. Good breakfast. Felt the shower mat in my room had seen better days and need of replacement. (Reception was informed) Shower mat did not stick well to bath consequently I slipped as mat moved (lack of suction) as I climbed in to use shower whereby I bumped my knee on side of bath. A minor gripe in an otherwise pleasant hotel

On the whole this is a very pleasant hotel. A good breakfast selection. The bed was very comfortable. Clean towels and soaps provided. I was working away from the hotel so it was only used as B&B. The staff were pleasant enough. The ground floor room at the back of the hotel had cobwebs on the adjacent sofa bed together with a real damp smell. The carpet was not very clean either. The room was cold due to a window having been left open during the day by house staff or previous guest. The bathroom radiator did not work at all. The power shower had good pressure but lacked a supply of hot water due to the mixer on the tap providing too much cold water despite being turned to full hot. It was only having flushed the WC did the shower heat up. It returned to its tepid temperature once the cistern had filled 12 seconds later. Hotel staff were not apologetic about the state of the room."No one else had complained" was the response when checking out.

Splendid and large room newly refurbished with extensive views,Very nice bathroom. Staff most welcoming and attentive on arrival (offered help with bags) and throughout our stay. They were willing to do whatever asked. Excellent breakfast included in room rate; kippers, haddock, &c. in addition to an excellent fried breakfast. Very good restaurant with very reasonable prices; food well presented and fresh. Endless coffee served in residents' lounge after dinner. Great food and snacks also served in the bar. I wish all the hoteliers from around toe country could go to the Pheasant to learn how to do it properly. The best hotel I have stayed in for many years. Our thanks to management and all the staff.
