    Comfortable cosy room.

A few more comfortable chairs in bar area. The bench a bit uncomfortable however the cushions helped to get relaxed.

Friendly staff, nice food, good location very close to Kielder Water.

No individual bedside lights, both had to be on at same time and far too bright. En suite bathroom adequate but a bit on the small side .

Perfect location for National Park, Kielder Water and Hadrian's Wall. Decent facilities in room. Pretty location, lovely view. Great food.

Umm...creaking floorboards the only drawback. Kept waking us up. Judicious use of earplugs v important if you want to sleep.

The location is beautiful, the bar seemed well stocked and the Northumbrian lamb was delicious.

Where to begin? I currently live in Calgary, Canada and was visiting the UK with my wife, 4year old son and 4 month old daughter. The purpose of our visit to introduce our new daughter to the family back home. I’m originally from the North East, therefore after a couple of nights rest in London we decided to travel north for two nights to visit family, and for me it was a chance to show off the beauty of the north and its people to my wife and children. I booked the Pheasant Inn on booking.com the day before the check in date. I went through the usual steps – selecting the dates, number of persons etc and found the rate of 140GBP very reasonable and made the booking on that basis. I received the confirmation email which showed “Family Room – 4 adults – 140GBP”. Great! So the next day we made the 6 and ½ hour drive to interior Northumberland. When we saw the Pheasant Inn we thought we couldn’t be luckier, surrounded with rolling hills it was exactly as I’d hoped it would be. The problem was when checking in the hotel had put me down in the family room, but as a single occupancy. I showed the confirmation email from booking.com and the manageress said there must have been a mix up but they would sort it out and put my family and I into two adjoining double rooms which suited fine. It had been a long day (by this time it was close to 8pm) so we quickly dropped off the luggage and headed through to the restaurant. We ordered dinner and I had a well deserved local ale. Just as we finished the delicious Northumbrian lamb dinner I was approached by the manageress who asked if she could have a word. She had contacted booking.com (they were on the line) who confirmed that I had only made the booking as a single occupancy. I spent the next 10-15 minutes with a very rude booking.

Beautiful surroundings and perfectly located for all activities in the area, especially the observatory. Some people might not like that the internet reception is quite poor and non-exsistant in the rooms but it was nice that you can relax and get away from it all.

It would be nice if the bar could stay open a little longer as it was closed when we returned from the observatory at 12am. So pack a bottle and a midnight snack for when you return.

table reserved for us as residents without needing to ask. Friendly staff, breakfast excellent and cooked to order, Evening meal was superb.

Wifi in room would have been nice, not easy with 3 foot thick walls. Interior walls thinner judging by snoring from next door

The location could not be better. Just a short walk or drive to Keilder Reservoir where you can enjoy fabulous walk among the forest trails.

Nothing to comment on around the dislikes. Beware of the midges around the reservoir and forests/
