Location, staff, food, 'local ales', everything about the Pied Bull is perfect, cannot wait to return again
Glad we spent the extra for the penthouse room, was really lovey. Liked the character of the place and the pub was nice and friendly for a quick drink. really good location for exploring Chester and going out in th evening for tea and drinks.
The coffee at breakfast was terrible...other than that it was great!
As stated old time coach house, great location and very helpful staff
nice welcome on arrival staff very friendly, food excellent
nearly £12 for 2 gin and tonics! the jazz bar opposite served delicious cock tails for this.
The character & the local company. All very individual & welcoming!
Liked the location. Charming old pub with character. Full English breakfast was really good.
Room was cold, central heating not working just a small electric radiator to plug in. Not a cosy room, some lampshades on the wall bulbs would have made it feel warmer and/or a small bedside lamp. Had to have a cold shower after several attempts to try to get the water to run hot.
Although it says on booking.com there is parking on site they only have two spaces which meant we had to park 5 minutes away in a paid parking space. Cold room.
The central location was excellent. The room had recently been refurbished so was nicely presented. The breakfast was adequate , the evening meal was enjoyable and good value.
Our room was situated at the front of the hotel and the noise from the street was very loud at times right until 0130hrs. We had booked a car parking spot but on arrival it wasn't available, a courtesy call to inform us odfthis would have been appreciated.
bathroom was dirty , could not turn the cold water tap on bath , filler coming out of the bath , bottom toilet dirty . underneath of toilet seat very dirty . battery in remote for telly needed replacing . blankets on the bed were to small for the size of the bed . the lights were poor in the room not much light off them . needed to be a midget to see your self in the dressing room mirror . furniture did not match nor did it match the age of the hotel . paid £10 extra to park the car and went out and told them I would be back within the hour but they locked up the car space and then had to wait ages to get back in . no Sky TV no phone to contact reception .
Location within city walls.
Bathroom was grim and toilet not cleaned properly.
Great location, good breakfast, good heating.
Basic level of comfort.
Great central location, old beams, nice beers and a stunning suite with amazing bathroom and stylish and comfortable bedrooms - lots of character and history; rooms were cold (it was during the snow) but good electric heaters were provided
No parking ( although free parking in overnight market car park a short walk away) - I had an amazing room ( the suite) but my colleague had a very bog standard 'pub' b&b room, comfy bed but otherwise basic - so bit pot luck as to which room you get when booking through booking.com ( I was lucky!) - its also quite noisy due to lovely old fashioned windows having no sound proofing from street revellers below
The location is superb !!!
The pantomime of trying to get in and out of their so called car park!! Was annoying to say the least !!! After paying for a car park space the staff tried to get me to use NCP as the manager wanted to park his car there!!!
rooms very dated and cold.single beds had springs from matress poking through.sheets and blankets on bed
good location, nice bar & evening meals looked good
cold shower/ no hot water, only one hand & bath towel supplied for a couple
If you are looking for tradition and character then this is the place for you. If modern is what you want then look elsewhere. We found it really quaint with lots of character, clean and very welcoming. Would definitely stay again.
The seal around the bath could do with replacing but didn't distract from the stay in anyway.
cracking location, nice period features, nice bathroom.
noisy water pump in bathroom. shower not able to turn up hot enough. extra tenner to park car for one night!
close to city centre
bad heating in room
