Staff very courteous location excellent good value for money
Bedroom 4 was a bit grotty the T.V shelf was very dusty no little biscuits in the room with the coffee
Beautiful hotel with lots of character, low beams, not a level floor in the place! Just lovely. Food excellent. Staff wonderful. Our twin room was lovely and cosy but had plenty of room for two of us.
Tricky to find by car if you don't know Chester like the back of your hand! Our sat nav gave up trying and we had to be talked through the streets of the city by Luke who stayed on the phone for 20 minutes whilst we negotiated the one way system!!
Great location for exploring Chester. Close proximity to the cathedral, town wall and shopping.
The bathroom needed to be updated, but our stay was fine in an old pub dating back centuries. Chester is a difficult town to navigate when driving, as the old precinct has many one-way or pedestrian streets...parking is located at a nearby parking garage.
The staff , the meals, and the location were excellent. Would return anytime plus the beer was perfect, good hotel, good place, good time,
The stairs were a little problem being on the top floor.
Loved the location, staff were fantastic, good meals and choice of beer.
Poor Wi-Fi, room was noisy on top of cool room, bedspread was stained.
great pub/hotel. Very old building so quirky and not! modern Premiere Inn style. Food/Beers etc fine. Good friendly/helpful staff.
Price increase because of the races. Definitely not worth that price. Standard price ok, as long as you know what you are getting for your money. Noisy floors. Dated room. Parking.
Lovely traditional pub, good breakfast, great location for shops and bars.
Old building; central location; pub atmosphere; staff friendliness - only place they helped with suitcases!
The bedroom was a disappointment - felt scruffy; poorly furnished and the bathroom was like a 1980's cheap rental property in London
no car parking
Superb location for those keen to visit historic Chester and to stay in part of that history. Within the ancient walls and a few minutes from every historical attraction. Excellent beer and a good range of food available every evening.
A bit noisy late at night though I don't think one can avoid that in any town with a busy night life. It's part of being in the heart of a city!
The staff, and particularly Luke, were very competent and helpful. Meals were well cooked and presented. Breakfast was limited in variety but good quality.
It was very noisy at night. The Pied Bull is not a typical lively town centre pub but on the weekend when we were there the Sealed Knott "soldiers" were in town and attempted to drink everything in the pub. We suspect that the noise is not normal.
We loved the view.
Liked the closeness to The Rows, the Roman Wall and the city centre. Our staffing people were VERY good.
Staff, quality of beer, location to city centre
Lack of car park. Decor a bit tired
Friendly staff and pub atmosphere Good cooked breakfast (included in room rate) Evening meal good and good value Very large bedroom (4-Poster bed) Great location - right in City Centre and near the City Walls and Canal too. Easy walk from Railway Station Real ales! Overall good value for money
Bedroom very 'tired' New pillows needed. One bedside light didn't work (reported but not fixed) Bathroom was really poor: Tiny (hit knees on bath when sitting on 'loo'), full of 'formica' and silicone sealant, shower coming away from the wall, basin plug-hole rusty, heated towel rail didn't work. (Staff did tell us it was due for refurbishment)
Building was interesting and the food was good
The Location, very central, friendly staff, own beer brewed on premises. General ambience was good. breakfast good.
The Noise at night , note not from the bar but from extractor fans (?). We moved rooms late on to a twin. Bathrooom a bit grubby.
good food, outstanding beer and good service,I would say it has the best location in town. stayed in room 3. at the rear, nice and quiet here plenty of room
beds just a bit to firm for my wife's comfort. although all ok with me nothing really bad to say
My single bed collapsed during the night, therefore no sleep after that. Reported it next morning at checkout. Have not had a word from management since. Parking a problem, had to carry bags to and from multi-storey car park 5mins away.
large room full of character excellent breakfast
the stairs very difficult for those withmobility problems
We loved everything, fabulous old building ,very comfy bed ,breakfast each morning, full English was delicious really set us up for our day, staff great ,especially the lovely efficient lady that served us breakfasts each day with a cheery smile. We will most definitely be returning ,want to try the four poster!!,thank you Pied Bull
Location. Breakfast good
Could be cleaner...Bathroom grubby
The Staff , Location & food was great, the room was small banged my legs on the bed every time we went to the bathroom. Bed was uncomfortable not very good pillows.
The old atmosphere and a super breakfast.
The ghosts! Noise from outside street.
Location and atmosphere
Had to park down the street
