location was good for everything breakfast was good staff were very helpful bedding was very clean people need to re member it is a old pub ? not a hotel
bedroom was light due to all the lighting out side could do witth shutters
Rooms need refurbishing, had to walk past pile of dirty laundry to room.booked a double but at last minute we were put in a twin
Everything. Great people, location and hospitality. Would definately use it again
This establishment should stay closed to staying guests during mid-week through the Winter. Didn't know we were coming. (I believe they hadn't read they're e'mails). Room was cold till we turned the radiator on.
I liked the location, entertainment, room, staff, breakfeast
Lovely comfortable beds towels and bedding immaculate location perfect central food in hotel beautiful Lovely views of the habour
rooms bit dated could do with a coat of paint and very drafty windows shower very poor not very powerful art all check in afetr 2pm still waiting for rooms to be cleaned
Everything was great its in a prime spot and the staff were friendly
No car park
Food was plentiful. We had the breakfasts and there were more than enough choices to suit every palate. Service was efficient, served with a smile. Staff were very accommodating. All in all, it was very good.
As a housekeeper myself, I didn't like the dusty and dirty toilet brushes and holders or the cobwebs on the walls. I also didn't like the conversations that were going on between some of the staff while customers were present, they were quite graphic, in a sexual way, (and that was on my first day). I'm sure that could have been discussed either at the end of the day (no customers around) or in somewhere private.
in general it was satisfactory
The girl behind the bar on our arrival was not at all helpful and basically quite rude. Also on the second day of our stay we had to request clean towels three times before getting any. .
the staff were very friendly and helpful, praise shud go to the assistant manager called jessica, very helpful and polite!.a warm welcome with a smile.njoyed our stay.
pity there was no sky t.v. an at breakfast the sausage was not cooked.its a shame they ave blocked up the big fireplace on cold nites it wod draw people in.
friendly staff . good food . right in the heart of Whitby .
would like to have been warned about the EXTREMELY LOUD music just below my room until 11 pm . so loud I couldn't hear my tv .
This is a popular pub with a romantic view. The focus is more on the beer and food than on the accommodation but that is what we expected and wanted and the price represented good value. The breakfast was good. We would recommend it to friends.
On arrival the staff seemed a little confused. The room was a little small and tired and the route to the room went past the kitchen.
View of harbour and Abbey
we liked that it was on the front in the heart of whitby staff were friendly and the breakfast was very nice. The room was very pleasant.
we liked everything.
Great . Staff was very polite and helpful. Room was very cosy nice will stay there again
Toilets in the bar was a bit scruffy
Pleasant staff and welcomed with a smile , clean rooms , on suite mould free and dry
I can't say I didn't like anything as the staff really made us Welcome and nothing seemed a chore
Top floor cold room
Good central location Real ales and ciders served at bar, plus good selection of spirits Large and enjoyable breakfast Character room with wooden panels and exposed beams Clean, modern and spacious bathroom TV Friendly chatty staff Seeing people our own age also staying at the pub
Understaffed and slightly stressed staff No explanation of location of rear entrance (rushed introduction due to understaffing, no one to man bar) this would not have proved a problem until returning to the pub being closed and only knowing front entrance. Lack of front of house skills with some staff but pleasant and friendly. Do not let this put you off booking, all in all we had an excellent stay but these are the areas we found the Pier Inn would benefit from hearing about.
Friendly and helpful staff at an excellently situated Inn which is ideal for exploring Whitby.
Good location Breakfast was adequate
No parking with The Pier, nearest place was 5mins walk Mould n dirt around the bedroom window
The location was perfect for the views of the harbour and the surrounding town. The room was basic but very comfortable with tea/coffee facilities and biscuits. On suite bathroom basic but clean (no hair-dryer). Breakfast was excellent, choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt and juice and a cooked breakfast menu, served in the cosy bar.
Bar stops serving food quite early 7.30-8pm. (This may only be out of season times).
The beds were comfortable. The food was nice. Good location. Good selection of food and drink. Received a small refund the following morning due to the issues we had. This made up for the over priced rooms slightly however even with the refund I think they are still over priced.
Not good value for money, rooms were over priced for what you get. I stay in a lot of hotels and this was more expensive than it should be for what you get. The TV didn't work. There weren't enough staff working upon arrival and therefore they were very busy. The shower was very slow running and the more I tried to tilt the shower head out over the slower the water ran so I had to stand very close to the wall. The room was dirty in places (toilet and window sill). There was water left in the kettle which I know should be emptied and checked by a member of management.
Ideal for the pier
No food available No breakfast till 8.30 we were away at 7.30 Bar closed at 9/9.30
Excellent location and view, good value for money in a very comfortable room. Staff were helpful. A good place to stay if you are on a budget.
The TV didn't work, although the manager lent me an analogue aeriel to try and remedy it, but after retuning the TV it still didn't pick up any channels. There is no wifi in the rooms either but I got temporary signal being over the bar. The band in the pub below were really loud until 11pm
