This small boutique hotel with a motoring theme has a large American-style kitchen, unique bedrooms and Morgan sports cars to hire on site. Stansted Airport is a 15-minute drive away. Melvyn and Sindy built The PitStop in 2009 and some of the windows were saved from the original Morgan factory. Guests can admire a range of hand-built cars, or take one for a drive themselves. The huge kitchen is styled as an American diner and can be accessed 24/7. At breakfast, guests can help themselves to food and drink from the fridge. Room themes include Art Deco, Edwardian, contemporary and exotic Indian styles. Each has an en suite bathroom, a TV, free internet access and a free-to-use computer. Local restaurants can be found in Little Hallingbury village. The PitStop hotel is also convenient for the M11 motorway for accessing Cambridge and London, while Bishops Stortford is a 10-minute drive away. Bed and breakfast: 4 rooms The most recent booking for this hotel was made on May 21 at 13:14 from United Kingdom.

Very Good Staff and warm welcome. Got woken up at 24:15 by the next door room having loud sex so not very happy about that. Also they need to check the dates on teabags as out of date.

An amazing effort has been out in to creating the b&B. The owner Melvyn is a really lovely guy and very proud of what he has achieved. It is definitely worth a visit. If I had to make a criticism, I think it would be that I would quite like a nice cooked breakfast, but in saying that the American diner is open 24 hours for you to help yourself. It has bread, eggs, beans, fruit, cereal. Etc.

Everything. The place is designed and built to perfection to give you everything you could want. It is comfortable, fun, friendly, and value for money. Nothing. If you are reading this Melvyn, maybe you could put one of those folding things in the room to put your luggage on - probably there and we missed it!

We cannot commend this place highly enough. Melvyn and Sindy waste no effort in making their guests feel at home and have gone to extraordinary lengths to create a beautiful setting. Their warm welcome aside, the attention to detail should be an example to others and they scrimp on nothing. It is an absolute must for lovers of cars, ‘50s Americana or Art Deco and is thoroughly recommended to anyone else who simply likes distinctive and original accommodation. Nothing worth noting!

Welcoming attitude by Melvyn the owner led to an enjoyable and comfortable stay.Attention to detail and comfort of accomodation was very good with ensuite facilities in the highly individual and luxury rooms. Self service Breakfast provided in a themed american diner. Allied to location and off road parking the property is part of a small working morgan dealership with cars on view for petrol heads. The property is immaculately maintained with an amazing level of detail with highly welcoming and helpful host. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a different experience

From the moment of checking in to the moment of checking out; it was five star attention. The consummate passion of Melvyn was inspiring and it was a complete pleasure to experience The Pit-Stop. The standard of detail was awesome and Melvyn's wish was that we should treat The Pit-Stop as our home was achieved with complete ease due to the ambience of the surroundings. We were overwhelmed by the whole experience and would urge anyone wishing to visit this idyllic area of England to use The Pit-Stop as their base. The only downside was that we had to leave after only one night but we will be back at some point in the future. Huge thanks for allowing us to pose for the cameras in one of your magnificent, marvellous Morgans, Melvyn.

What I liked about the Pitstop was in a word EVERYTHING.Melvyn the owner was so helpful and friendly, he told us to treat it like our home at first I felt that that would be difficult but very quickly that is how I did think of it although a lot more luxurious than I can afford.I and my husband have been telling people we have met travelling home how special it really was and that they should try it.That is how impressed we were.

Wicked interior, the diner is amazing, wasn't sure that it was of benefit when I made the booking, but used it loads.... As for the cars, well.... Awesome... I think an honesty box for beers/ wine would be good, but hey, we just hit the co-op down the road.... Perhaps this cannot be achieved due to licensing laws? Wasn't a prob, just an idea...

Stated as a bed & breakfast, but much much more! Melvyn personally takes you around the rooms, tells you everything you need to make this as easy and pleasurable stay as possible. Rooms are fantastic, spotless, and personalised. My colleague stayed in the family room and I stayed in the Art Deco room. Well above my expectations as it possibly could be. Not only was the rooms this good, the kitchen/diner has to be seen to be believed, you can help yourself from all the breakfast food in cupboards, fridges etc...tea and coffee, juice, cereal, fruit, you name it, eggs, bacon, sausages, but you have to be prepared to do the cooking, which is no problem. To finalise this experience the rooms are above a Morgan sports car showroom, which has to be seen to be believed, I'll not say much more as you really need to see this yourself or go to www.the-pitstop.net There is nothing you could fault or not like about the Pitstop or the hospitality by Melvyn.

My sister and I were visiting Bishop's Stortford for an evening event and stayed overnight at The Pitstop. It was fantastic. The decor and style is second to none and unique with its connection to the luxury motoring world. I can't praise it highly enough. Self prepare and serve breakfast in a '50s diner kitchen is a quirky feature.

The PitStop was chosen as being the nearest to the function (had I read the invitation I would have booked a room at the venue - however I am glad that I didn't because the PitStop was much nicer), easy to find, comfortable, clean, great 'help yourself' concept for breakfast/food, very friendly and welcoming host. Would recommend the PitStop to all my friends and would stay there again if I was visiting the area. This isn't a complaint but there were just two issues - the bed was too soft - and due to no ventilation the room was very hot during the night. In essence not being able to open a window for fresh air was an issue. Other than that everything else was perfect.
