..good for access to trams
Very friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable and close to Princes St
A little breathless when climbing to 2nd floor room. But my fault for not being as fit as I should be.
View from window. Good location, well heated.
Size of bed. Shower very small, neither fluctuating water pressure. Slightly broken hairdryer.
Room was very small but very nicely decorated
Very clean. Restaurant very good value, good tasty food. Staff very welcoming and helpful.
Welcome by reception, friendly helpful staff. Room was clean and had good facilities. Location was great. Overall an excellent stay
No where to hang up wet outdoor jackets
Location to shops and theatre fantastic, staff very attentive, bed very comfortable and breakfast delicious.
Shower in our room had a very poor flow only thing that let them down.
The common areas of the hotel are beautifully decorated and well kept, the staff were mostly very helpful and friendly. The bed was comfortable. Its pretty centrally located for getting around Edinburgh and theres nice pubs/restaurants a 5-10 min walk away.
The standard room we were given, right at the top of the hotel was a small attic room. Nice fittings/fixtures but fairly minimal/basic in provision. The bathroom was small, and had a sloping roof, the sink was tiny and the mirror came up to chest height. Inexplicably large shower head in such a small shower, can't be moved out of the way. The bathroom floor was very sticky in one place, to the point my foot got momentarily stuck to the floor - a bit disconcerting! The room overall was small enough that it was difficult to move from one side of the bed to the other and my partner and I had to get out of each others way. Very limited hanging space or indeed other space, we were mostly living out of our suitcases tucked into the corner (this was under the sloped roof so was not easy to get at) Other rooms in the hotel we passed with doors open looked much larger (presumably Superior?) - the price paid (£105/night) for a tiny attic room was not justified in my opinion. To be fair to the man on reception I did ask if there were any other rooms, and he tried to help but the only one available was the attic room next door to our original one - they are essentially the same except it had a slightly bigger window and the extra light made it feel a bit better. Breakfast was average to good, but not great so we only had it the first night. There's no lift, and despite us being young and reasonably fit, this was still hard work to reach the attic! In short, the hotel itself is lovely but be careful which room you go for as you may be disappointed!
Location Value for money Very clean Lovely bathroom Cosy
The room we were put in, told we had a twin got given a double, told we had early check in, we didn't get it on arrival, had a sky light so when it rained it kept us up. Need to liaise with booking.com as they told us all our requests had been met such as having a castle view no room even had the option of a castle view, so expectations weren't met, but if it hadn't been for booking.com promising us every request it would have been fine
The room was tiny
Great staff and good location.
To many stairs, we were placed on 3rd floor which is about 6 flights of stairs we were shattered by the time we got to our room. Also water kept stopping in shower on busy times.
Central location, staff, breakfast. Staff especially made the stay
Small room, though I didnt look into the size
Excellent location, very close to centre
Being woken up at 5am in the morning by people stomping up and down the corridors on 3 consecutive mornings.
Warmth in hotel & nice comfy beds. Hotel staff very pleasant & helpful.
Noise from boiler whilst trying to sleep.
well placed for shopping or the theatre communal area warm and comfortable
very small basic room all four of us found the beds found the beds very hard
Really helpful staff, the room was spacious clean and comfortable.
couldn't log onto the wifi for some reason
Staff were very helpful, rooms are fantastic with plenty space would return again and again
Great location, 5 min walk from Princes street. Lovely service and staff. Nice breakfast.
Porter took our cases to our room, bar open 24/7 and very central location. Handy for playhouse, train station, shops and pubs and excellent value for money. Staff very accommodating and let us leave our cases the following day to go shopping
Location to everything was excellent
Very poor choice for breakfast, went down at 9.15.
Location, friendliness of staff.
Very small room. Whole place needed painting.
The hotel was lovely apart from room.
3814! Room was a box and bed was hard and no room. When you take iron board out of wardrobe there is no space. Tried to swap room but was offered no choice. Then when checking out they tried to charge me for extra breakfast which I had already paid cash
Loved the location. Very friendly helpful staff. Lovely bar and lounge, good atmosphere.
We were in a superior room which was nice but not 4* quality as the hotel advertised. Also, quite noisy when guests returned late at night.
