Serving exceptional gourmet cuisine, this 16th-century travelers inn has played host to both Dickens and Darwin. With beautiful, Elizabethan decor, The Lion is in the heart of historic Shrewsbury.

Once again made to feel very welcome by Michelle and all staff. Ideal location whilst visiting family and easy road access for shopping in Shrewsbury and Telford. Food was excellent value and all homemade. Will definitely be back for more of the same!
Nice welcome and good service. Lovely breakfast.
Bed a little too soft and creaky
Extremley clean. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice..
Several meals on evening menu not available. Could not access room until hotel opened at 5pm. No hairdryer.
Staff food everything was spot on
Very friendly staff.Clean comfortable rooms. Good choice of breakfast. No late night noise.
Michelle and staff made us very welcome. Having stayed at the hotel many times over the years under various managers, good to see the improvements made. Very comfortable and food excellent.
Booked this hotel just an hour before we arrived. Friendly welcome, popular bar and restaurant. Good food. Decent size bedroom, clean & plenty of towels & toiletries. Also plenty of tea, coffee, hot chocs with biscuits & plenty of milk. No noise from the bar downstairs, nor from the nearby road. Amazing shower pressure. Lovely fresh cooked breakfast with choices. Would happily stay here again.
Can't think of anything we didn't like...
I stayed here overnight with my husband and daughter. It was the first time we stayed overnight in a pub and I would heartedly recommend it. The staff were friendly, the accommodation lovely and the drinks prices were very reasonable.
Meals were tasty and well presented. No noise from downstairs.
Room was not made up after the first or second night. Mentioned it, but only bins emptied and cups replaced. Beds not made, wet and dirty towels not replaced. Noise from the road, but less when window closed. Cooked breakfast was microwaved for some items and toast served on same plate as breakfast and already buttered, so cold and soggy when got to eat it.
If you are visiting Shropshire The Plume of Feathers is well worth considering as a base for a few days as it is in a very handy location for all the main attractions in this part of England. The accommodation is clean, comfortable, well presented, and not overly expensive. The breakfast is excellent.
Whilst the restaurant provides good food in the evening it is perhaps a little on the expensive side and a bit too cordon bleu with a somewhat limited choice of menu.
Friendly and helpful staff, good dinner at very reasonable cost. Good choice for breakfast, room a little small but fine for one night. Overall a very good value stay with dinner and drinks for just over £100. Will definitely return.
Michelle,Brett and staff very helpful and as I am disabled nothing was to much trouble for them.Breakfast first class would stay there again no problem
Nothing parking excellent
Michelle,Brett and staff marvellous nothing to much trouble. Food first class , no complaints as disabled everything catered for in needs
Could not stay longer extended stay
We thought everything was great. The food was excelent, best pork I ever had. Plenty of car parking and flet safe at leaving car. Views fantastic.
Staff where helpful for change of room for our friends, who are very tall and had problems with double bed, larger room was made available, very accommodating.
Comfortable room Friendly staff Large delicious breakfast
We booked as it was 5 mins to Much Wenlock but at time of stay A458 was shut for repairs so 10 mile/20 minute detour. If we had known in advance of the road closure we would not have stayed.
Bedroom was small and basic for a twin room
Very friendly staff. Comfortable place to stay. Lovely room with a great view. Fantastic meals. It's a pub so you expect some noise from party's but we joined in so enjoyed our stay.
Constant humming noise in bedroom. Maybe extractor fan in bathroom. I had to be in bathroom to get internet.. But I would stay again..
good breakfast and good meals at night
People really welcoming and friendly. Excellent food. Good location - away from the crowds and convenient to good transport links.
The room was at the front of the pub so there was some road noise.
Staff very friendly and very helpful. We met up with our 3 young grandchildren for an evening meal and chef cooked them all what they wanted. Breakfast all freshly cooked - excellent.
No shelves in bathroom, wash bag had to go on the floor.
Lovely country setting within reach of Ludlow and other attractions (David Austin Rose Nursery!). Lively atmosphere and friendly staff. Super food in Restaurant/Conservatory, and welcoming open-plan Bar. Outdoor areas with spectacular views. Small bedroom but comfy bed. Much nicer than an impersonal hotel. Perfect base for exploring..
Although ownership has changed, the current owners looks after you as well if not better.
Not a lot
Owner was friendly and helpful. Food was good, room was very clean and bed comfortable.
Room was rather small with large bed which left little space. A shelf in the bathroom would have been useful.
