Friendly and welcoming staff, good location, excellent continental breakfast facilities
My mum booked this hotel for me and as always super hotel.. Friendly atmosphere... And a bargin
I was in Lincoln with my Daughter for her graduation and The Poplars was in the heart of the city so ideal for us. We were very happy with the whole stay. We were made to feel welcome, lovely surroundings and view, room was comfortable and we loved the breakfast room, being able to help yourself to what you wanted was great, especially the boiled egg machine! Would be more than happy to return again.... :)
If I was staying more than a couple of days I would prefer to have had en suite as we had to share bathroom, however, this was ok for us for one night.
Nearing the top end of Lincolnshire near the Cathedral and shops. Parking a little limited especially with an estate car but a really comfortable stay, lovely breakfast, lovely staff!
Friendly owners & staff. Pleasant rooms with interesting furnishings. Brilliant location for castle & cathedral, with parking. The owner kindly allowed me to leave my car there for most of the day after checking out. Good self-service breakfast.
There were rather a lot of us sharing one bathroom/toilet (though it was very nice).
Lovely B&B ran by helpful and friendly staff. Felt like a home away from home, especially with Boots the cat. would definitely stay again if I went to Lincoln again.
Helpful staff, central location with off-road parking. The egg boiling machine - it worked and got everyone talking over breakfast!
You were made very welcome
Proximity to the centre of town. Breakfast provisions.
shabby décor - curtains not fitting. difficult parking
Great breakfast room and choice of teas in our room. Very friendly and helpful staff (Liam)
Location, house and surroundings.
Not the cleanest
Good view from breakfast room :-) Very welcoming
The Poplars is in an excellent location, an easy walk from the railway station and very close to the old town and popular tourist attractions. Our room was bright and comfortable with a lovely outlook over the town and a large, modern ensuite. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere, great help yourself breakfast, wonderful value for money. I would definitely stay again.
The location to the old town of Lincoln was very good
The hotel was on a very steep road. This was not mentioned when we booked it
The staff were friendly and welcoming, the rooms clean and the breakfast plentiful. The WiFi speeds made those at home look woefully inadequate. It is close to the Cathedral and Castle and the large variety of restaurants there.
Excellent facilities and very comfortable
Very steep driveway
Views, shower, comfortable bed, friendly owners and staff. Location is excellent for those wishing to visit the cathedral and the old part of Lincoln. Many good restaurants and essentially good pubs all within an easy five minute walk.
The main downside was the lack of a cooked breakfast. Breakfast was self service and very much continental; not what I expected for the price. The access road is NOT for the faint hearted being very narrow and very steep with little room to manuever once committed. Room had an unfortunate abundance of cobwebs dangling from the ceiling.
Location, friendly staff
Breakfast arrangements with one shared table were unusual
The location if this B&B is excellent, a couple of minutes from the castle and cathedral and the old town! Staff were very friendly, flexible and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean, with a little mix and match furniture. I like the idea of help yourself continental breakfast.
Some rooms have shared bathrooms.
Liam was very friendly and helpful. We liked the informality of the place and the self help breakfast and lovely pottery ware. Plenty of fresh coffee was most welcome. Lots of interesting art work all around. Shower facilities very good. A homely place for discerning people but not for those seeking a more spit and polish hotel like atmosphere.
Excellent location stunning views very friendly staff
very close to the police station which can be a bit noisy at night
Two guests, two rooms, two divergent views, one markedly more favourable than the other. Would recommend mainly because of location.
Self-service breakfast too reminiscent of YHA. Not impressed by notice in rooms requesting only favourable reviews
Beautiful room with luxurious feel. Fantastic ensuite with night lights for safety. Views to airshow. Breakfast room was bright and special gluten free diet catered for. Car parking a bonus. Just a short walk through the garden and a security locked gateway takes you to a delightful laneway up to the castle and cathedral.
liked the lot.
friendly people, great location, nice room, clean, we will be back
