Staff are very friendly and go out off there way to help would deafintly stay again and recommend to family and friends.
Only downfall is the steep hill it sits on but that's all .
City centre location was a big bonus. Free car parking is a positive. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was adequate.
Tatty décor in room and the "breakfast" was a bit of a joke - more like self service tea and toast.
the location was great and very friendly staff. room was nice
Staff were very friendly and full of advice. Very clean and welcoming. Nice cat on the stairs!
Shared bathroom, but can't expect everything for that price.
Nice view from room. Friendly staff.
Had to share a toilet/shower. Room was freezing. Furniture was dated as was the TV. Had to sit on the same table as other guests at breakfast as only one table. Car park on very steep hill and difficult to get in to and out of.
Love the decor and style of the place. Charming staff and a welcoming and relaxing room with character.
Dreadful driveway at the top of a hill if you are heading into town.
Hard to find and park. Otherwise ok
Comfortable room, with coffee/tea making facilities and your own milk jug to fill from the fridge downstairs. Help-yourself breakfast (including cafetieres for coffee) - lovely breakfast room, bright crockery and great views. A world away from modern hotel chains: I enjoyed the quirkiness & would stay again.
Nothing really: minor problem with noisy water pump, but staff explained and were apologetic
Very friendly accommodating staff. Very close to the cathedral and castle.
Everything was great, the best b and b i have ever stayed in, it is simply wonderful
Nothing everything was great
No cooked breakfast
It was close to all the amenities in Lincoln. The Castle and Cathedral were just a short walk away, also the Staff were very welcoming, and pleasant. Would certainly stay here again, perhaps for a few days longer, to see more of Lincoln
Thought the room was quite cold and the heating dystem wasn't adequate. Also didn't like the breakfast. Would have prefered a cooked English breakfast.
Good choice of tea. Breakfast was nice too.
Sofa in room needs replacing. You sink into it.
I liked the warmth of the Poplars building in mid November. Particularly good was the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to talk and make their guests welcome. Breakfast was very ample. Very good value for money. Thank you!
Older guests may need to be warned about the stairs in the Poplars and the hill outside - on the other hand the short cut at the back of the Poplars meant that there was not much uphill to negotiate to get quickly to the Cathedral and the Castle.
Overall a very good bed and breakfast. The location is ideal because it is equal distance from the historic attractions on the hill to the high street. The house itself has a comforting feel with all the art and unique furniture dotted around. The bedrooms are nicely decorated but some can be improved. The bathrooms are modern and stylish.
I hate the very steep drive leading to the house but there isnt much to do about that. The garden is very dark at night so the pathways are not visible and therefore I have tripped a few times. (some garden lighting would be fantastic!) Personally im not a fan of continental breakfast and would love to see a cooked breakfast option. Lastly a minor detail, but the dining table chairs are extremely heavy and potentially dangerous with the spikey tips that are around head height. This is me being very critical however!
Very friendly welcome. Excellent shower. Good value for money. Prefer a cooked breakfast but the help yourself breakfast was enjoyable.
The entrance to the hotel is very narrow. Needs some redecoration. No biscuits in room
The place was full of character, service was full of care without being intrusive.
Satnav was not easy. Try heading for Motherby Lane then turn left onto Hungate for access to Spring Lane then Beaumont Fee.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was lovely and clean with a wonderful bathroom. Bed was really comfortable especially after a long day of shopping and evening of Ghost hunting.
The only downside was the fact I was expecting a full English breakfast but was faced with a toaster and a funky boiled egg cooker. But on saying that, there was a wide range of cereals and jams/honey and fruits both dried and fresh.
It is not a typical English B&B.. it is kind of a new generation of B&Bs. Very welcome place. Great location, nicely decorated rooms and spectacular view from the window. Thank you for the homemade jam for breakfast it was yum! :) Will definitely recommend!
A lovely place to stay in Lincoln, with easy walking distance to the Lincoln Cathedral & Castle in the old part of town. Bright, comfortable room with ample choices of tea (one choice of coffee). Breakfast is self-served but not bothered by that. All the staff were very helpful with assisting with luggage, directions and anything else you might need.
If you don't like steep hills or mobility problems, this may not be right for you.
Lovely room and service! Well dressed room and looked after.
Walk up hill!
The owners are extremely friendly. I had a great stay in this hotel & will definitely visit again. x
Location for getting around Lincoln especially the cathedral area was spot on for where I needed to be. Facilities were very clean with towels own flannel and even spare shower products so the only thing you need to bring is toothpaste and brush. Excellent selection for breakfast too as well as plenty of tea coffee milk and water in the rooms. Staff were welcoming despite very late check in and friendly.
Only downsides were: bathroom door could have done with an 'occupied' sign of some sort as you were never sure without trying the door if someone was in there. The chairs at breakfast were incredibly heavy. I had a real struggle to move them without putting my full body into it, a problem when already sitting.
The people running this B/B are superb and really helpful and fair minded people.I had to cut short my stay but was refunded to compensate as the day was rebooked by another party. The rooms were very warm and cosey and querky in style. A bit stylistic.free wifi.located near to hospital.Good for sightseeing.
would have preferred cooked breakfast but everything apart from the usual full english was provided inc; self serve boiled eggs.(probably reflected in price) location top of steep hill maybe suite more studenty type people. But would stay again if needed.
