Lovely comfy beds and the ensuite was just so well designed. The breakfast room was bright and homely, relaxed with help yourself to lots of lovely food. Only 10mins stroll to the main old city which was such a bonus. The fish and chip shop / restaurant in burton road was great.
The Poplars was good ,as I had made a mistake with the dates there were fine with that ,plus went out of there way to make you welcome, clean hotel all over thanks..
The staff was really welcoming great place couldn't of made it better. Everything was nice tidy and clean, didn't expect it to be that as great as it was! Will definitely be staying again!!
Querky decoration relaxed feel helpful staff. Good choice for breakfast
Great easy going place to stay. Good breakfast.
The character of the building, its interior design, antique furniture, spacious and modern bathroom, the extra-helpful and friendly staff and owners and the flexible continental breakfast.
The Poplars is a very nice comfortable place run by friendly, helpful people.
A mirror fell on my head. But it didn't break and I do have a thick enough noggin to stop that ruining my day.
Fantastic place, really enjoyed my stay
Location is a very excellent, to the cathedral, castle and the restaurants area. Staff very friendly, room with bathroom comfortable.
only decor this room rather tacky...but there is no accounting for tastes.
Was made to feel welcome. Very comfortable room.
Location was excellent; only a short, lovely walk to the cathedral, castle and the shopping and restaurant areas.
We booked an en-suite room because we wished to stay in an en-suite room however had to stay in a room with a shared bathroom located on the landing as apparently we were the only guests on the floor and the room we booked had been forgotten to be heated. Suffice to say, I do not like to worry about being seen by anyone in my pyjamas or having to put a coat on in the middle of the night or indeed any other time just to use the bathroom. To escalate this initial issue, the toilet in the shared bathroom was not cleaned after whoever had used it last. I was lucky enough to catch the landlord downstairs who supplied bleach and cleaned it. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a lovely relaxing stay at the Poplars was ruined immediately.
Everything was lovely, the room was beautiful and the tea set was a lovely touch. Breakfast was very nice, I liked how it encourages people to actually converse with the other guests! The staff were very helpful and pleasant to talk with. Before I came, I read a lot of reviews complaining about the hill - and yes it was a little tiring - but it most certainly wouldn't put me off coming back. On a student budget, I chose the Poplars because it was affordable and the reviews were positive, but it was excellent value for money and I have no complaints :) Thank you!
Very good standard of accommodation. Lovely people. Great location. Can only recommend.
i like the room and facilities and the breakfast table which was amazingly neat and class ! In future i would love to stay more nights in poplar .
Cosy, interesting place to stay - felt lovely and homely and was really clean and organised and great value for money - the breakfast is amazing.
The breakfast room, the Sky TV, the tea and coffee making facilities were superb
That we shared a bathroom with others
The staff were very friendly and helpful, they called me a couple of days before we were due to arrive to give me directions from the train station and also to let me know an en suite bedroom was available. The room was very cosy and beautifully decorated. It was clean and comfy. The location is perfect, just a few minutes walk into the centre of the town, and a torch is provided for the way back! The breakfast was lovely, everything was provided. Would definitely stay here again.
Very steep location at the hill.
The staff were very friendly and helpful with our questions. The quality of the room itself was beyond our expectations. Would definitely go again.
Didn't have any problems.
Incredibly friendly staff on arriving. Born and raised in Lincoln, so knew the area however was happy to show the hotspots and where to go. Bedroom was well equipped, comfy and everything you'd need. Lovely modern bathroom.
Drive is a little steep and with full rooms a little awkward, however again the hotel offers street permits and there is plenty of parking in Lincoln.
