Comfortable bed, spacious room, modern shower room. Quirky but functional up cycled furniture. The owners have put considerable thought into what guests might want and how it could be provided at a reasonable cost, using self service wherever possible, e.g. the continental breakfast includes eggs you can boil yourself as well as loads of cereals, juice, fruit, jam, honey, marmite, cafetière coffee and a big selection of teas.
My personal preference is for mushrooms and bacon at breakfast and fewer starchy carbs, but continental breakfast is part of their value formula and they do advise of this type of breakfast before one commits to book.
Fresh milk for tea making facilities! I loathe UHT. Flexible on breakfast times because self-service Parking available, and within walking distance of the centre of Lincoln Wifi (though I didn't use it this time)
Quite a lot of noise from next door, particularly their bathroom fan when they got back (after I was in bed) Tired decor and furnishings (and I really prefer cotton bedding over polycotton), but I know they haven't had the property long No Radio 4 on the TV
The beds were so comfortable and the room very spacious with coffee and tea facilities, TV, hair drier and plenty of mirrors. The people that ran the B&B made us very welcome, giving us a tour of the building so we knew where to find everything and checking that we had everything we needed. Our check out was hassle free as we were met at breakfast and everything sorted so that we had a quick exit. Would definitely stop here again.
The only minor thing, and it is a minor thing, was sharing a bathroom with the other people on our floor. Having said that the facilities were great and we only had to wait to use them on one occasion. The owner also said that the other rooms, in the other house have en suites.
I work throughout the UK and stay in many bed and breakfasts - this is far the best I have experienced by a country mile: economical; generous accommodation; beautiful surroundings and beautiful house and décor; all amenities I could wish for; wonderful staff; and a generous breakfast thrown in. I would highly recommend the Poplars for business or pleasure visits
very helpful and friendly
The bed was really comfy
Having to share a bathroom
The hotel was easy to find and was within a little walking distant to the train station, when we first arrived martin was their to welcome us and was very friendly he told us a little about the hotel and the local area and told us where some good pubs and restaurants were. we had a very peaceful sleep and the bed well u just sink into the pillows and they are amazing, and the hotel is amazing clean with modern decor that give light to the hotel breakfast was complimentary the next day even tho we missed it we still had a look at the breakfast room and was also nicely layed out. thanks for making our stay enjoyable
Great breakfast, Lovely decor in bedroom, large private bathroom. Breakfast excellent with wide choice of continental breakfast foods. 5 mins walk from cathedral!
Wi-Fi didn't work!
Quiet, and very polite staff,
Shared bathroom facilities ,not even a sink in the bedroom , car parking horrendous. continental breakfast ..... nearly.
we are going to return over Christmas period. The Poplars is in a good position for all the places to visit, the old town and the new parts.
poor breakfast for continental
have stayed a few times now and it's always like going to a friends house where you make yourself at home
well located near to cathedral and castle. good range teas in bedroom
located on steep hill which makes parking difficult. DIY continental rather than cooked breakfast
Self-service breakfast with generous range of food and drink available. Location: within short walk of Castle, Cathedral, Bailgate historic centre, and Lincolnshire Life museum, also of Steep Hill with its amazing shops, pubs, etc. and Hop On Bus service down to the modern shops and station etc.
Great view to city, nice staff, good breakast, really nice and comfy room, good pick of morning teas in room
Place was bit hard to find and must be caeful driving in and out of yard. Lack of warm breakfast.
Friendly, helpful and informative staff.
Convenient location and parking
There are so kind , friendly and helpful
Close to the festival at the lincolnshire showground and easy to find! Would use again...
Not a very long late check out considering we came for a festival...
Are you kidding they know there location is hard to find they even send an email to make us a where there is a problem. !! A very simple map would fix this problem but they don't bother to address the issue !! WHY NOT !!! we spent an hour trying to find their location. Make sure you phone first and get proper directions it will relive a lot of frustration !!!!!!
Great old house, friendly staff, new bathroom, good breakfast
Tricky to find, parking on steep slope, lots of stairs
* access to all of Lincoln * friendly accommodation * cleanliness * no fuss, no hassle breakfast..fresh milk * privacy guaranteed
Friendly and welcoming staff, good location, excellent continental breakfast facilities
