Location - right in the middle of town; near shops, bus station, Festival venues. Owners are very helpful with hints on their menu etc. Plate with fruit in bedroom is nice touch. At last, a hotel that has somewhere to put your wash kit in the bathroom!
Single room is well furnished but rather cramped; no lift and up a lot of stairs. Bathroom is new and nicely decorated, but also very compact
the central location was fantastic and the room very comfortable with modern furnishings and bathroom. The owners made us feel very welcome and were very helpful
Friendly staff, good breakfast
Climbing 3 flights of steep stairs
Central, comfortable, owner very very lovely, couldn't do enough for us, wish we could have stayed longer but will DEFINATELY go back.....and also go for an Indian meal in their restaurant
No lift for suitcases.
There wasn't anything that i didn't like about the hotel. The owners and family were friendly and helpful, my room was large with good wardrobe space and i had a massive bed. The hotel bar was really good with a large selection of cocktails and shorts. The hotel breakfast was very nice and it was in an excellent location near bars, pubs, clubs and entertainment venues. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the town.
The only slight thing maybe the price was a little steep although the breakfast was included in the price.
Mr and Mrs Boyal take special care to make guests feel welcome, so that one quickly feels part of the family - but at the same time you enjoy all the benefits of a well-equipped four-star hotel, in a superb location.
Perfect location for Literature Festival and coach station
A very personal approach by the owners who clearly care that their guests enjoy their stay. Quite quirky but I did not mind that. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable, which are the two main elements for me. The breakfast was also enjoyable with some unusual options - e.g home made Frittata or Indian flat breads with yoghurt and pickle. There is an Indian restaurant run by the owners and a basement cocktail bar by their son.
Not much. Slight lack of amenity in terms of a bar/lounge to relax in. Felt slightly more like a high quality b&b than a full blown hotel but I really enjoyed the stay and would return.
being asked to pay in full on arrival hadn't even seen the room this is not a luxury hotel ! breakfast was in the very tired and outdated Indian restaurant
Staff really pleasant & helpful
The owners were extremely helpful, as i have some food intolerances they did their very best to accomodate my dietry needs.
The staff members were very frienly. The food was excelent (complementary or not). Very clean. Good location in chltenham, yet cheltenham itself is not a good location, as we've discovered. Nothing was missing regarding to what we payed for.
No elevator- our room was in a high floor and it is difficult to go up and down the stairs for us seniors. Lighting in the room, bathroom aspecially is very dark when lights are on.
This hotel is bang in the middle of town straight across from the shops and restaurants. I was working at the Town hall which was a couple minutes walk away. The couple who ran the hotel was lovely and very attentive. Great stay.
A warm and friendly welcome instantly upon arrival.
As we were in tne back of the building the traffic in the morning!
The only good thing I can say about this hotel is that it is in the very centre of Cheltenham. The fact that it is so close to clubs combined with the poor quality windows does however mean that you will get no sleep on a weekend, which according to hotelier is 'what one should expect when staying in a city centre hotel'.
Parking on the owners drive because the 2 spaces he has that are free were full, this meant a 10 min walk to the hotel and city centre. Being accused of lying to Booking.com (who were extremely helpful in attempting to resolve the noise issue) infront of guests at breakfast behaving extremely unprofessionally and intimidating myself and my wife. He asked to me write down every hotel I'd stayed in with booking.com in past 12 months so he could check up on my behaviour in previous hotel visit. I tried to calm him down and tell him that I have never had the sort of issues in other hotels that I have in his hotel and that I have never complained to booking.com before. Had a member of hotel staff been about at 2.30 am when I wished to complain then I would not need to involve Booking.com (who are fully supportive and will definitely be booking with again). All in all its a hotel with potential given the correct level of customer service, parking spaces and perhaps new windows.
The location was very good, right in the town center
The room was TINY! When we checked in we were yold we had been allocated the smallest room. We had to take turns getting ready while the other sat on the bed as there was just no room!!
Made to feel welcome, beautiful building, located in the heart of Cheltenham. Excellent food in the restaurant.
Traffic noise was an issue at the back of hotel. Luckily it was not so warm and I could close window.
No onsite reception, inflexible breakfast and times, restaurant odors throughout hotel/B&B
Great Location Friendly & very helpful staff Well decorated Very Clean
Parking was a long winded process to move the car Saturday night revellers meant little sleep that evening-located at front of the building
The owners were very nice made you feel very welcome and nothing was to much trouble. Plenty of choice for breakfast. . The hotel was clean and in good order. Our room was a small double but it was ok for the one night we stayed..
If we stayed again we would book a a bigger room. It was abit of a squeeze in the small double!
Good location, central but quiet; large rooms, good facilities, clean, car parking available, close but not too close to taxicab stand for quick getaway to train station just a five minute drive away. Very helpful management. Can eat in at Punjabi restaurant. Bar. Highly recommended.
The location, right in the center. The possibility to park in front of the hotel (not for free) then to move the car on the free parking just behind the hotel. The kindness of the owners. The quality of the bedding, the bright rooms. The fresh fruits wanting for us in the bedroom when we arrived. The price is good and reflects the quality of the place.
We were at the top floor and I don't remember seeing any information about that when booking. I pay attention to this point because one of the three of us was an elderly lady. The breakfast was not great. The continental offers terrible industrial croissants, and poor cereals. Two of us chose Indian meals: a bit fat and not enough to face a morning of visits. But there were fresh fruits.
Great location. Small friendly family run hotel more like a B&B in feel - possibly a little expensive on this basis. Had the whole building to ourselves on a Sunday evening which was novel. Rooms are nicely decorated. Nice georgian building. Parking to the rear.
Family room on the top floor with not lift which meant a good work with the luggage. Bathroom light was a bit dim.
Everything about this hotel was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. Worth a return trip to this hotel.
Sorry but they CANNOT cook eggs.
Both husband and wife owners were very helpful and polite...nothing was really too much trouble. Excellent location although very noisy as indian restaurant on ground floor and club in basement. We were in a room facing the back which was noisy re traffic etc (thought we thought we had booked one facing the gardens)
Very expensive and hot room when compared with prices elsewhere in Cheltenham.En suite shower room nothing more than a cupboard at the bottom of the bed so little space to manoeuvre, difficult if you are over 6ft. Poor quality "english breakfast" Overpriced bottle of sparkling wine at £40 and although card used to secure booking only this was used to deduct the full bill in advance without my consent.....not very happy!
