The PyewipeSaxilby Road, LN1 2BG Lincoln (Show map) Very good, Score from 114 reviews“Very relaxed, super food and the early availability of breakfast was much appreciated. All in all a super week-end”
Barrie,
Mirfield
The Pyewipe has a rural setting beside the Roman Fossedyke canal, with views of the cathedral and castle. It is a 20 minute walk from the center of the city and the historic quarter. Renowned for its unrushed service, The Pyewipe serves tasty food from its bar and restaurant menus. The Pyewipe in Saxilby is a mooring point for narrow boats, and there is a terrace beside the canal where you can enjoy drinks and meals all day. The 21-room lodge has clean, spacious and well-equipped accommodations with pleasant views and private bathrooms. Hotel Rooms: 21

A very clean, comfortable and well maintained hotel, with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere in the bar area. Also the breakfasts were excellent. There is in my opinion nothing wrong with the Pyewipe itself. The only downside is it's location, which in Summer would not be a problem, but the walk along the canal towpath on a cold winter's night in to the centre of Lincoln is not much fun, and taxis are not cheap.

Well appointed room, excellent water-pressure and heating. Very comfortable room but mattress too hard (almost always the case in any guest lodgings). Dining room staff very friendly and efficient. Reception staff efficient but lacking warmth.

The bedrooms are separate from the main Inn and have large beds. Food is excellent. Some staff seemed to be in the next bedroom and due to their late finish could be heard until C. 3am.

I wanted to do some shopping, visit the castle and/or cathedral and meet a friend for dinner at the same place as i was staying at. For shopping the walk into the city centre is pleasant but a bit far if you want to buy anything bulky or heavy (I didn't)... Lovely walk along the canal into the city centre and i easily managed to get up to the castle and have a look around that and at the magna carta... however you need to be fit... not recommended for anyone not quite fit ! The annex is separated from the Inn by about 50 metres with the odd pothole... however it has its own sitting area (big size hallway with 5 or 6 sofas and 2 coffee tables. Very useful... and a separate parking area away from that used by the Inn's non-resident visitors. It was a bit close to an elevated dual carriageway. I did not hear the traffic when in the 'hotel' annex; but i did whenever outdoors closeby the inn itself. Nice locatio nevertheless next to the Foss canal.

We enjoyed the location as we could have a nice walk by the canal. THe room was comfortable and spacious and the bathroom well equipped. It would have been nice to have been offered toast and extras at breakfast. The waiter served us a cooked breakfast, but did not ask if we would like anything else.

Wanted to stay in Lincoln but impossible to get a room. Pyewipe turned out to be a very acceptable alternative Disgusted with the cost of the taxi into town, £9.30 for a trip of 2.5miles. The taxi was booked by the hotel Breakfast slow to arrive

The website said there were no children and no animals allowed. Our daughter and children thought they were therefore unable to stay with us and stayed elswhere in Lincoln. There were both children and dogs in the lodge.

Very comfortable and well furnished rooms in lodge, and no purple to be seen anywhere! Full English breakfast (included in price) was spot on, as was evening meal. Better than average menu, and restaurant surroundings on a par with up-market hotels. Two real ales on draft in country style bar, and a young staff that really went that extra mile during our stay. Superb value for money! Whilst I may, on occasion, be mistaken for Victor Meldrew, in most places I've stayed, there's always something that grates....but nothing here. We'll be back as soon as we can think of an excuse for a break!

Close to Lincoln for University open day. No real complaints, but the signage at the end of the drive was difficult to see coming from Lincoln - perhaps a sign is needed on the other side of the road.

We did not like the Pyewype. The bathroom extractor was so noisy also the front door did not shut easily so every time someone came in we heard the door bang. The surroundings were pleasant. The decor was aweful dark and depressing and old fashioned. The food was ok but not brilliant. I'm sorry we would not stay there again.

This is a canalside pub with accommodation in a separate building, It is outside the city but within walking distance (20 minutes). It serves real ale, the food is great, the rooms are good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys a relaxing, quality country hotel and does not need or want immediate access to the city centre.

We ate in Pyewipe food very good. Very hot and stuffy bedrooms could do with a fan or some type of air conditioning. Very noisy due to being near main roads x 2.Shower head in bathroom needs replacing.

The accommodation is of a good standard, and in a separate block from the hotel, so no noise from function room or public bar. Ample parking space, lovely location by the canal, pleasant walk along the canal right into the centre of town. We arrived on 1st October during a heatwave, so the pub, restaurant and beer garden were very busy, but the staff retained their good humour and the service was excellent.

Being beside the canal The room had a damp and dank smell to it not what I would have expected from a room listed as the 'honeymoon suite' and the bed creaked evertime you moved. Food and drink prices were rather high
