Car park. Do not visit this hotel. Stayed in room no. 11 initially. Woke up at 12.30 midnight. Nightclub next to hotel, music so loud it felt as if we had a television blaring out in our room. Noise resonating in hotel's corridors. Recepetion staff informed us she would ask them to turn the music down. We never noticed that happened. We were given keys to no. 14 to try and see if another room was any better. It wasn'T. It was a 3/4 bed with a plastic sheet on and we could still hear the music. When the music was turned off at 2am we returned to the original room. Then kept awake by couple arguing outside. The decor is completely dated and the furnishings are worn and tatty. Cigarrette burns to bedding. Dreadful run down hotel which does not reflect the hotel's exterior. Staff were pleasant. I think they should exit this sinking ship at the earliest opportunity.

Very characterful building with a nice breakfast. Large room. Great view over historic street. Helpful staff. Very noisy disco until 2am ("...you probably wont hear it in that room...."). Room not spotlessly clean and decor peeling. Faulty heating and cold shower (rectified) with little pressure (not rectified). Uncomfortable beds. Fantastic location and building which could be a gem with a little thought - but currently isn'T. Well behind the times owner needs to urgently visit some similar European and British hotels to see how it should be done.

Breakfast was nice. We had no hot water in the morning, had to get a cold shower. When we reported this problem at reception on our way into breakfast, we were told they knew about it! It was so cold that I couldn't condition by hair, after washing it with shampoo, because all I wanted to do was to get out of the cold shower. The bathroom was very cramped, and needed an overall. As we appeared to be the only guests staying there, you would have thought they could have let us know about the water. Bed was very uncomfortable.

It was conveniently located and the breakfast was quite adequate. The duty staff were very helpful and friendly. The single rooms were very basic (no bedside light, 3 channel TV, basic bathroom with malfunctioning shower). One had no light working at all and my companion had to be moved (to a much better double room). Despite the web site showing a restaurant, the hotel operated as a simple B&B and even services like a fresh pot of tea were not available

Staff went out of their way to be very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Room warm and cosy on a bitter winter night. Provided a snack late in the evening at very short notice. Towels etc, beautifully laundered. Rabbit warren layout, made me slightly nervous in event of emergency. Cracked basin in bathroom. Felt and looked somewhat seedy and down at heel. Decor tired and lacking in cohesion. Desperately in need of major overhaul.

The location is excellent being right in the centre of Morpeth. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was really good with plenty of choice. The hotel is very tired and could do with total refurbishment. I would put it in the 2 star category at the moment.

Staff. The room was shabby, wardrobe door was hanging off. The heating came on after I complained. The whole hotel was in need of some tender loving care.

The hotel staff where very good which is indicative of the area. Breakfast was excellent. The Hotel it's self is a fine building but unfortunately is very much overdue decoration. the rooms my colleague stayed in where not comfortable at all due to the and in dier need of repair and modernization. I would rate the rooms 1 out of 5 stars.

Friendly and considerate manager who was trying to make the best of a hotel that has passed its sell-by date. Sheets were laundered on sight and were very clean. Good staff all-round. A hotel that has obviously seen better days. It lacks basic maintenance. Door fallen off wardrobe – not put back on. Toilet not flushing properly. Both problems known about but not fixed before arrival. Carpets and Décor need investment. Room’s cold – no heating. Very noisy Night Club directly under rooms.

Good breakfast Reception area dull and not welcoming, room decor very dated and grubby with cracked ceiling tiles. No hot water therefore bath / shower useless.Main area and bar had a distinct rather unpleasant smell (damp / drains). Bar appeared to be a haven for 'long-term' drinkers - uneasy atmosphere. Very noisy disco in the evening (Saturday) until 2.oo am so sleep impossible.

Breakfast was nice. Room cheap. The hotel needs a good refurbish. Rooms and decor very outdated and shabby. Very limited seating area and you have to go to the bar next door to bring refreshements into the hotel.

My room was directly above the nightclub. The nightclub issue is not well publicised in hotel information pack. Single room is very small too.

The location in central morpeth was very useful but unfortunately refelected in the noise. The cost was reasonable. It was clean. Most staff were friendly and quite understanding The general state of repair was not good. The cooked breakfasts were burnt. The noise from the downstairs club was unreal and went on until 2am..
