Glad to hear that it was going to be upgraded and would like to see on completion Breakfast

Shower unusable Car Park Had boys playing football and animal fouling Stairs No internet (which we knew) and suggested that was included in upgrade cleanleness was fair to good as due to the decor it could not have been any better

Location was great. Staff friendly and helpful. Room ok, nice hot shower. Well priced for what you got

Nothing at all

It is in extremelly poor and run down condition, the carpets and decor are a disgrace, apart from breakfast there were no dining or bar facilities. It should actuallly be advertised as a bed and breakfast and not a hotel. I would not have boarded my dog in this establishment. I was actually charged £6.00 for an upgrade to a double room single occupancy from a single room with no TV areal and ripped and hanging off wallpaper. At least Dick Turpan when robbing people had the decency to wear a mask.

Breakfast

We disliked everything bar the breakfast. The room was filthy, the shower only trickled, the ceiling was caving in through damp, the bed was on a slant and there were lots of dead bugs. Over all a very unhappy stay, we were meant to stay 3 nights but only stayed 1. Even the price you pay isn't cheap enough for what you get.

The entrance is dirty, dull, almost intimidating, I am sure that potential guests turn away before crossing the threshold.

Food ok

Old hotel , uegently needs refurbishment, gloomy acces, no Television in room, no bed head lights in room, beds uncumfortable and no duvets, shower adjustment impossible and overall quite appalling apart from staff who work against very heavy and embarrassing odds

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were able and willing to help re finding places to eat and visit.

I am writing on behalf of one of my staff who stayed here. He said the room was dirty, the tv didn't work, there were burn marks on the cover on the bed, damp on the walls. He stayed one night although he was booked in for 4. I tried to get a refund on the 2nd night but was told because he hadn't complained the night before no money was available. We will never use this hotel again

The staff were personable

The hotel is in a poor state of repair it looks dirty and unkempt (even if it is not! It needs a total revamp and get rid of the drunks who stay overnight and go to the disco. The two children slept on a sofa bed that had seen better days.

All of the staff are helpful and friendly and Brian, the night porter, has a wealth of local knowledge.

City centre location with free parking. Reasonably priced, with a nice breakfast.

Needs revamping urgently. Should open up the Bar downstairs. Why no WiFi in this day and age? Had to use Wetherspoons for WiFi.

The staff were very helpful and friendly - and definitely deserve a better environment in which to deploy their skills.

We were most unhappy to discover that we were not booked in especially after a 6 hour drive to Morpeth. After much confusion, with the receptionist referring the problem to Malcolm (who entered reception at the time of our arrival) who couldn't care less, we were given the so called 'Bridal Suite' which would leave any bride very disappointed due to the thick layer of dust on the furniture, the leaking toilet cistern, curtains falling into holes and so on and especially being woken at 6.30 every morning to the sound of the kitchen air conditioning unit being switched on rendering further sleep an impossibility. The entrance, shared at weekends by a night club, was filthy with empty bottles, glasses and fish and chip wrappers remaining where they were for the duration of our stay. As I have known this hotel for the past 60 years or so and remember it as the place to go, my disappointment was immense and I think the description on the website which makes great play of the old world charm is very misleading - the potential is there but the reality falls far short.

The Queen's Head is what it is, it is in need of modernisation and has a faded shadow of what it obviously has been. Our room was basic and not particularly comfortable but at the cost we cannot grumble. The staff were most helpful and friendly, the breakfast provided was of a very high standard.

Could do with a refurb, little things let it down, torn net curtain for example.

One member of staff who appeared to be on duty permanently, and was indeed the only member of staff we encountered, was both friendly and helpful.

Very, very badly in need of total refurbishment. One bed in our room was broken, the furniture was stained and marked, the wallpaper and furnishings dingy, dark and very dated. This was replicated throughout the hotel with chipped paintwork and worn carpets. Had an underlying smell of old cigarettes and beer too.
