The service at breakfast was Very poor. The staff did not have a clue how to look After guests. The food was very good.
The location was good, the staff were very nice and the interior was nice and modern and clean. Also, the local brewery in the back car park was good.
The lack of atmosphere in the hotel, especially at breakfast. The dining room was too quiet, maybe some background music would have helped. The noise from outside from 6.30am when the newsagents opposite opened they're shop and shouted a conversation with each other in the street. I also thought the car park could be tidier as the overflowing bins and kegs didn't give a good first impression
Room was lovely. Very quirky. Comfy bed. Beautiful big free standing bath and walk in shower.
Despite being on the 3rd floor we heard a lot of noise seemingly from the basement bar/club or outside until around 330 am. Made for a poor night's sleep.
The bed was comfortable but way too low to the ground.
Boutique hotel trying to be something it's not. Choice of breakfast cereals abysmal. Cornflakes or weetabix! Small details lacking. No bedside like lamp. No lamp for dressing table cum desk. So dark you couldn't see to do anything at the desk. No mirror either. Could not see to dry hair. No soap at sink. Pretty poor attention to detail overall. Had to keep asking for stuff that was missing.
Water seeping through from room above. Service was poor at breakfast and portions were miniscule. Gave the distinct impression of being run on a shoestring.
Nice facilities,restaurant, bar, personnel
in August a heavy comforter is too warm. A sheet would have been fine.
Excellent facilities, rooms, bar and restaurant.
Excesive noise from nighttime revellers below the bedroom windows.
The location and the staff were exellent
The size of the room was very small.
Very helpful staff
We had 2 rooms. The standard room was perfectly adequate but the king room was very spacious. The breakfast was made to order. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and welcoming. A noticeable difference from hotel chains. The location was very convenient and there was parking on the hotel site and we had no trouble finding a spot
A couple of my family members would have preferred a wider choice of breakfast cereals to include healthier options.
The staff were all excellent, hugely professional, friendly, smiling, nothing was too much trouble.
Noisy at night with drunks outside. Chaotic service at breakfast. Very good assortment of cooked breakfasts, but no cold options, eg cheese, ham, croissants, fruit, yogurt, marmalade.
The staff were excellent and were very helpful, the location was good as was the size of the room.
The hotel is a bit tatty, the shower bath thing barely worked and we did not always have hot water and breakfast on the first day was a shambles.
Helpful and friendly staff. Good food. Location
Condition of rooms Needs redecorating
Poor housekeeping, bedroom and bathroom both felt unclean with many cracked tiles. Very unattractive and poorly maintained rooms and public areas. Heavy woodwork and carpetting both in very poor condition, badly scuffed. Poor breakfast - minor point but they even ran out of marmalade and re-cycled other guests' cold toast - served with the previous evening's mess under the table!
relaxed atmosphere friendly and helpful staff excellent food and service
rooms need a bit of refurbishment
The staff team is excellent. Not only were they very helpful and friendly but they were kind and welcoming to friends who visited me at the hotel while I was there. They work very hard but always had time for a chat.
location near train station. Can not praise staff enough. Every thing else was faultless.
the staff were very friendly, in particular the receptionist Lisa and the young waitress Samantha, both were very cheerful and helpful, which combined with the overall standard of the premises made our stay a memorable occasion. we would definitely stay here again if we return to the area and will have no hesitation in highly recommending the Queens Hotel to all our friends and family.a truly enjoyable stay.
Liked the penthouse room and LOVED the view. Could see the castle and hills, was lovely. Great shower and bath big enough to share!
Ceiling was a bit tricky for my very tall fiancé as it was sloping. Facilities were a little dated and furnishings were a bit worn and chipped/scratched. Bathroom door was badly fitted and had to be scraped across the floor to open. I got stuck twice.
No information in room regarding hotel or restaurant times. Very noisy outside front door at 2-3am . It seemed to be managed by students from the university. I think they needed a bit of guidance and training.
Lisa and her team look after you exceptionally well. Great effort to be helpful and help you see how close you are to tourist spots.
I booked five rooms in this hotel for the translation symposium. We really appreciate that the extremely friendly and helpful staff at the hotel. -The breakfast and dinner are of a very high standard. -The bar is good, very friendly atmosphere, with good selection of drinks. -All five rooms are very clean and up to high standard. -We were also upgraded to a large room for the same price. I would definitely recommend both the hotel and the food at the hotel.
The availability of a terrace to sit out and have a drink(or two!).
Poor choice of cereals etc for breakfast. Dreadful dinner choices because of the hotel's supplier problems; forced to eat away from the hotel.
