We live in Spain and needed a hotel in the centre of York so we could attend a christening. The location was excellent and central to York City Centre. The amenities were excellent as was our room. I am a smoker and did not expect a smoking room so that was a bonus. The beds were very comfortable and the hotel is situated by the riverside - beautiful. We had the buffet breakfast which was excellent. There was something for everyone and it was thoroughly enjoyable. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you very much for a most pleasant stay in England.

Excellent hotel, cleanliness,no noise the staff at the front desk very pleasant. The staff at breakfast very helpful and the breakfast buffet was excellent, instead of scrambled egg you can ask for fried, boiled or poached eggs with your bacon. The City was only Five - Seven minutes walk from the hotel.and only Fifteen -Twenty minutes walk from the Railway Station. So it is within walking distance for everthing in York.Brilliant.

The location is fab. Right on the side of the river and only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of town. The railway station is about 5/10 min walk away. The rooms are lovely. They are clean and the well kept. There are tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryer, tv, plenty of towels provided. The breakfast is a buffet style. There is a good choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, toast and of course a full English. This is the 2nd time I have stayed at this hotel and I would definitely stop there again.

Good situation close to Ouse Bridge on south side of the river giving easy access to the city centre and tourist attractions. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable and staff are helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were fresh and of good quality. Only issue was that noise seemed to travel across the river and had disrupted sleep. Could be that it was a busy party weekend. The hotel itself was peaceful although it seemed to be quite full

I have stayed here several times - this stay didn't include breakfast which I much preferred - the proximity to the centre of the city is invaluable tho as with all city centre hotels - you can expect some noise from late night revelers particularly if you have a river view - I did have a problem with drainage but flood waters were only just receding so I guess this may not have helped matters.

The location was very convenient for visiting the Minster, Jorvik and Castle Museum. Breakfast was excellent even though it was buffet style. Food was fresh and there was plenty. Everyone we spoke to was very friendly and helpful. We were on the 3rd floor and close to the smoking rooms. (N.B. Other floors do not have smoking rooms)

Good location on the river, with the city centre, city wall, York Minster etc all a short walk away. We stayed on the top floor. About half the rooms on this floor allow smoking, which means the whole floor (and the lift) smells like an ashtray. Disgusting. If you stay here and don't like cigarette smoke, ask for a room on another floor.

The Queens Hotel is in an excellent location and only a short walk to the city centre, the staff very friendly and welcoming. Buffet breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice. The only complaint we had was the shower in the bathroom wasn't very good and it was fixed, also there was no heated towel rail which would have been nice to dry towels but also give a little heat in there too.

I enjoyed the hotel and location I didn't like the fact that after waiting 15 mins to be seated for breakfast that when we got to the buffet counter I had to tell the staff that some of the basic items such as bacon etc had ran out then had to wait until they were replenished. Not a complaint but worth a mention.

Good location. On-site parking. Room was not cleaned to a good standard. Breakfast is usually self service, though on this occasion was plated up, not very good.

The staff were very friendly, the rooms were quite comfortable and clean with the hotel situated ideally close to the city without being close to the hustle bustle made for a relaxing stay The only fault we had was with the room we stayed in, room 4 was on the ground floor and right oustide was the bar and was rather noisy most of the night and morning even when the doors were closed to the bar we could hear everytime they were opened not good if your a light sleeper

The room was very spacious and well appointed. The large bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern. The location is fantastic for the shops with great views over the river towards the city. Plenty of tea and coffee making provisions. We arrived at about 17.30. The female member of staff was off hand and wasn't interested or forthcoming with information. The hotel car park was flooded as a result of the river bursting it's bank (no ones fault but the nearest ncp was £5.50 for three hours parking. The hotel is located near to a number of Nightclubs, which results in party goers and disturbing noise up until 3.00am.

“The Minster hotel has really improved since our last visit 3 years ago. There has been extensive refurbishments and the room that we had on our visit was first class. Breakfasts were made to order and were of a good standard. It is in an ideal location for all that the city of York has to offer.” Andrew, Boness |
