The location is fab. Right on the side of the river and only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of town. The railway station is about 5/10 min walk away. The rooms are lovely. They are clean and the well kept. There are tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryer, tv, plenty of towels provided. The breakfast is a buffet style. There is a good choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, toast and of course a full English. This is the 2nd time I have stayed at this hotel and I would definitely stop there again.

My boyfriend and I have just stayed at the Queens Hotel over the bank holiday weekend and have to say were pretty impressed for the price. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very welcoming lady on reception and upgraded to a river view room. The room was modern and clean with flat screen tv, couldnt complain. The location is excellent for city centre, just across the bridge from Yates's and the slug and lettuce. Would definately recommend the hotel carpark £10 and it is secure. Breakfast was nice, buffet style, perfect poached eggs upon request, only complaint was the toast was cold but I am sure if I had requested some fresh the staff would have been happy to oblige. All in all a good hotel for a short break, would definately stay here again. We were upgraded to a river view room upon arrival which we thought was great, amazing view. However not so great at 5 or 6 in the morning when the ducks start quacking lol. Didn't get the best nights sleep.

Fair priced decent hotel with good location. Unfortunately had to pay £17 for car parking as hotel's parking was flooded. Maybe the hotel should pay for guests! Sort of cancelled out the reduced rate for the night. Would choose Hotel 53 during high river in future.

Buffet breakfast was lovely, decent choice. Location excellent. River had burst it banks and we had booked car parking under hotel obviously unable to use but appreciated alternate parking a short distance away. Stayed at this hotel several times over past few years and finding now that the rooms are looking tired. New tv's on the wall but curtains in Rm 48, with the blackout lining now worn and when shut in the morning you can see all of the places the backing has worn off. Bedding clean although a stain on valance sheet let it down-obviously hadn't been changed from previous occupants. Sealant around the bath needs removed and redone. Its a shame that the small details are letting a rather pleasant place down.

This was our first visit to York and the initial welcome received at reception was very pleasant and continued throughout our stay from all staff members. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Location was very good and we were able to walk to all main attractions. All in all we had a great weekend. Well done

We liked the location which was right next to the river and only 2 minute walk to the shops and other amenities. Hotel rooms were very clean and modern. The riverside bar was good too can imagine it being nice sat on the veranda looking at the river in the summer. Breakfast at the hotel was very good, quality was excellant and choice was very good too, help yourself and eat as much as you like. Book a parking space at the hotel for £10 because the nearest other car park is NCP and costa £17 for 24 hours. Booked a parking space at the hotel but was unable to use it as the hotel had recieved a flood warning from the river authority but I suppose that was'nt their fault.

The location was perfect for sight seeing and access to good pubs and restaurants. We booked 2 superior double roooms and found these to be of an excellent standard, a good size and with views of the river. Our friends were impressed too.The breakfast was good and food always hot. A change from some buffet breakfasts in the past! Parking at the hotel is a plus, especially considering the cost of NCP carparks in York. The only negative comment is the price of drinks at the hotel bar ~ little steep.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It was nice to be able to leave our bags until check-in time. The hotel was in a great location and was quiet. The room was a brilliant size and we had a king size and single bed in the room and well as a table with 2 chairs, this was really nice as I stayed with my mum. We thoroughly enjoyed walking along the river and looking at the goslings and a lovely plentiful buffet the morning after. Would definately recommend it for a weekend city break and will return with my mum again or husband. Also really good spot for an evening river cruise (unfortunately not running when we went).

The location (central to York) was the only positive. The hotel is tired and in need of refurbishment. The staff were either students or pensioners and were very impersonal. Car patk was not available so was forced to stay in the local ncp. The tv was too small to be seen from the bed. Would certainly not recommend this hotel to anyone, and value for money was certainly not there.

The staff were very friendly and showed me how to get to the nearest shop, even walking out the hotel with me! They were very accommodating and gave us a great room when I had requested prior to arriving, a large room as it was my boyfriends birthday and we wanted a nice relaxing uncramped stay as we have experienced in other hotels. I did not like the hairdryer that lasted for about 10 seconds! I have long hair which requires the use of hairdryer for longer than 10 seconds! I called down to reception and the woman kindly offered one I could collected.
