We paid extra for a river view and to be honest this made the stay excellent, if we had a non river view it (for us) it wouldn't have been the great stay it was. We pulled our little table to the window and sat which made it perfect
The room was a little tired but the view more than made up for it
Good hotel on the river short distance from town centre. Hotel has good facilities with good English breakfast Would stay again
Bar facilities bit limited If you didn't. Like English breakfast choice was limeted
As usual our stay was excellent.
Receptionist not very pleasant . especially night porter . unable to get a coffee at 10 pm. Barman come night porter said he could not make any coffee . and if I did not like it I should take it up with the management. I was told I could park at back of hotel over night. But the receptionist neglected to tell me it had to be moved by 8am the next morning. Consequently I received a parking ticket. The housekeeping staff were friendly but all the others seemed very disgruntled , And were taking it out on the costumers. So we will not be staying there again. And I do not recommend it .
Vue from window on the river
the location was great and staff very nice so every thing was great
!0 minute walk from station. 5 minute walk from town centre. Some rooms overlook the river. Very convenient location. Good size room. Reasonable value. Friendly staff Friendly geese outside
Near to city
Lack of car park space and chaos at breakfast
Friendly and helpful staff Very clean Good location
Given the price nothing
great location, on the riverfront and easy to find.we asked for a smoking room and got one (6 available) car parking at £10 per day is reasonable All the staff we met seemed to be local, they all had good knowledge of the attractions, best pubs, best restaurants etc. we paid £80 for 1 night which we thought was reasonable, its not 5 star but its very comfortable and its clean. best recommendation i can give is next time i stop in york it will be at the queens.
Good location ,clean good value for money ,friendly staff ,nice airy room ,good bathroom facilities
Evening meal was basic but still ok .waiter wasn't very competent the service was below standard from the waiter who asked us if we wanted our sweet we hadn't even had the main dish then and the hotel restaraunt was empty so not as if he was rushed of his feet .
the staff were friendly the hotel position was excellent the breakfast was all you could ask for
not to happy about paying extra for parking as it was part of the hotel
The room was huge and very comfortable, the staff are really helpfull & friendly and the breakfasts are lovely
Staff polite and helpful. Room was in decent condition. Great location for browsing and sluicing in the city centre via the Ouse Bridge.
Stayed in room 29! Need ear plugs with the main door opening and closing below window also coaches leaving engine running!
The location is picturesque and close to all of the tourist attractions.
Not enough parking at hotel so had to use NCP adding £12 to booking. Hotel had no character. The room was small, plumbing was noisy, walls paper thin, bed was lumpy, pillows flat and morning noise from extraction fans made sleep impossible.
WiFi did not work in the room.
Lovely big room. breakfast was fab
location is excellent and hotel good value for money
Only 10 minutes walk from the station. Central. Nice breakfast.
Good location, friendly staff.
Overpriced rates and queuing for breakfast
The location was perfect. Great room booked late but river view and two beds. Breakfast substantial. Free tea and coffee all weekend
Struggled finding out how to work the shower !
Stayed at the Queens several times and always enjoyed our stay with no complaints. The hotel is ideally situated for the city centre shops and most attractions. Rooms are comfortable and well furnished.
Our one complaint on this latest stay was lack of staff at breakfast. On the first morning one lady had the job of clearing all the tables as they were vacated and then seating all diners. Despite her excellent efforts this resulted in a backlog of guests waiting to be seated as tables came available. On the second morning another member of staff was assisting and the situation was not repeated.
Nice, friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Free wifi. Wide range of food for breakfast. Fantastic location opposite a really nice pub, Kings Arms, and most of the touristy things are within a 15min walk. Pre-reserved parking for £10 a day (11/2014). Would definitely visit again and recommend.
We only stayed 1 night (as planned) and couldn't find anything to dislike. Parking is very limited so make sure you enquire first to avoid disappointment.
Located very close to shops and attractions eg.Jorvik Centre and is also about 10 min walking distance from the railway station, some of the rooms had a riverside view. The breakfast was very good with a large choice of traditional English breakfast which was buffet style .Evening meals were good too.The room was warm and comfortable ,there was tea, coffee and biscuits available in the room. The staff were friendly and helpful .
The shower was over a bath and didn't work without leaking on to the floor, but no problem for us as we just used the bath .Also had to be careful as water was extremely hot.But no complaints otherwise.
