Liverpool now has so many hotels but Racquets is up there ! my last stay was a few years back and this bolt hole retreat still hasn't lost its appeal. The desk guy also stayed awake for letting me back in ( I thought i was locked out !!)- cheers
i remember on my first visit to racquets having a cafetiere of Lavazza Rossa in my room - which was great to wake up to.
The location was reasonable and the staff friendly
The rooms were dated and needed a thorough clean. There appeared to be no other guests and we had to request all details with regard to meals available etc.
The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were awesome! There was a problem with their power sockets but they gave me a free glass of wine and breakfast the next morning.
Make-up smudge on one of the towels. Power was on the fritz, but they did call an electrician. Breakfast was swimming in grease, expected a higher level of food for the price of the room and food.
The bed was very comfy and i slept well.
The room wasnt clean and was very small considering the size of the bed. I couldnt open the windows (fan was provided though) The place in general needs redecorated throughout , no iron in the room although i found one in the hallway. TV didnt work and i had to re-tune this several time. The shower was a nightmare to get to a decent temp. Overall this could be excellent but it need some major investment quickly.
The building The decor The staff
Small, 8 bedrooms. Economical, home from home. Better quality furniture and bathrooms than the Adelphi which is probably a similar age and price level of hotel in Liverpool. Nice period feel to it, not too old, not tacky. Good art and taxidermy on the walls. I'd definately stay again.
Location Room sizes Friendly staff
No parking deals with local car parks Cost of breakfast Felt a bit tired
Lovely Friendly Hotel Old World Feel to it and Great Location
Very friendly, helpful staff.
Good location, staff helpful, comfy room. Good nights sleep. Good breakfast. Good value for money.
Just one small thing, no bath mat. Would have mentioned it to staff, but we only stayed one night so not a major problem.
The apartment was spacious and had everything we needed.
The price for the breakfast and hotel for what you actually received was poor. I would not recommend paying for the breakfast if it not included in the rate. Long wait for a disappointing meal.
we staid in apartment 68 for 2 nights, the flat has balcony which bring light into the living room. one of the most comfortable and nice place to stay in feels like home. the dock and city centre is just 5 mints walk. will definitely go back there
Very friendly welcome from the staff on the reception desk when we arrived. The room was large and airy, with bags of character. The location was lovely, a stone's throw from the Pier Head but away from all the nightclubs, so nice and quiet.
The bathroom, although attractive to look at, had some inconveniences. There was no shelf in the bath/shower for easy access to toiletries, so it was necessary to pull the shower curtain aside each time, with the result that water leaked onto the floor. The plumbing was Victorian, i.e. almost impossible to control the temperature: the water was either scalding hot or ice cold.
The front of house was disgraceful, dismissive and not at all welcoming or pleasant. Room couldn't get wifi, tv broke, mismatched old furnishings, no glasses, windows couldn't be opened, ironing board in the hallway, '0' to reception did not work and had to use mobile to call the hotel from the room! I left, disgusted in the service....
Amazing rooms and decor. Different to your modern Hotels. By far the comfiest hotel bed I have ever slept in, and we loved the cast iron bath.
Lovely staff, great breakfast, good deal, unique building, comfy bed, very quiet.
Shower trickled and the TV flickered. But mentioned this at reception and they'll be fixing it, so even better!
Clean and staff were polite and helpful.
Dated, needs some money spendingvon it.
It was very friendly
step in bathroom
Staff from receptionist to concierge all helpful, chatty and friendly. We were in the apartment across the road with a stunning balcony and rooftop views over this fab, historic city.
Nothing. It's ace.
Lovely hotel, with friendly, attentive staff. As an older hotel with only 8 bedrooms, I was hoping for a more personal touch than you find in the chain hotels - it didn't disappoint. The room was lovely and the bed very comfortable - I'm usually a light sleeper, especially in hotels but I slept really well here. I loved the antiques and furnishings. It really is a little gem and I have booked my return visit.
There was nothing I didn't like.
Friendly, helpful and courteous staff. Great location and value for money.
Nothing to dislike.
