Leaving to go home!
Loved the room. Very clean, great bed, good lighting, quite & the staff vas outstNimg & friendly.
Didn't care for the breakfast.
Terrific combination of traditional pub and elegant, modern rooms.
Quiet, cozy countryside inn. Very pleasant experience.
As a countryside hotel, rooms could be a little bit larger.
It's a nice old pb
Not being able to check in until 18.00 without being told when booking. Breakfast only served until 8.30 again without being told on booking. Breakfast service very slow an overcooked when it arrived. Very poor value.
Nice old inn with modern accommodations around a quiet garden. Decent food.
Food is fantastic Excellent room
Breakfast opens too late (7.30am) and there were running late so we the restaurant from breakfast actually opened at 7.45 am... we had to wait outside
The food was AMAZING. Ingenious exciting dishes perfectly cooked with perfectly balanced flavours. New chef has been there for 1 month. Meal was as good as any Michelin star restaurant I've eaten in
Truly excellent staff, nothing but praise to each and every one of them and a special mention must go to the duty manager who's positive reaction enhanced our stay. We would most certainly consider staying there again.
If I really had to find fault then it would be the size of the tables in the dining room, which are barely big enough to accommodate four large plates plus wine and glasses.
Rooms nice and spacious and fully equipped.
Everything was just as we had hope for, and better. Nice spacious rooms with all the facilities one could need. Lovely bed and great bathroom. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food superb.
The restaurant was beautifully decorated - wooden beams and mellow lighting gave it a lovely atmosphere, and the food was good, although it is rather expensive compared to similar pub restaurants. After dinner we relaxed on the huge sofa in the medieval pub which also has a nice informal atmosphere. A special mention of the staff, who were all friendly and helpful, which makes a hotel stay extra enjoyable. The accommodation was in a very attractive modern building in the garden. The bedroom was pleasantly decorated and clean, and the bed was comfortable - good firm mattress with soft top, and good pillows, I think the top pillows may have even been real feather. The tea making facilities were superb, I have never seen such a large selection of tea bags in a hotel! There were about ten different types of tea, and also a cafetiere with selection of coffees. The bathroom was lovely - modern style, spacious and clean, with wonderful fully-adjustable shower. The heating throughout the accommodation was efficient and easy to adjust to our own preference.
Any criticisms are very minor, the main one being that the television in the bedroom was way too high up on the wall, so it was quite uncomfortable to watch it - it would have been better if it was about three or four feet lower. The main light switch beside the bed made a constant fizzing sound when the lights were on, possibly an electrical fault, and one of the ceiling lights and one of the bathroom mirror lights didn't work ... it wasn't really a problem because there were plenty of lights, but it does suggest that the electrics were not routinely checked. The bedroom would have been more cosy if it had carpet on the floor, but to be fair, it was a very nice wooden floor.
room clean and nicely furnished
squeaky bed, could hear the people next door through interconnecting door
Staff and decor
I loved the rural location, the beautiful old pub, the peacefulness and privacy of the accommodation. The staff were lovely and the food was mostly great.
Little things could have been better, such as the soap and shower gel in the bathroom looked about 10 years old and I didn't want to use them, no bath, my room had a door adjoining the next room presumably for sharing but this gave poor soundproofing.
The photos do not capture how lovely this hotel is! Everything was wonderful. Advice: do book if you plan to eat at the restaurant - it is very popular.
very lovely room and very very clean. also tasty breakfast, though not everyone will like the british breakfast
The staff were very helpful and friendly for the duration of my stay. The room itself was lovely, with a constant supply of hot water and a huge range of in-room teas, coffees and hot chocolates. While the facilities and extras were not fantastic, I was there for business and not pleasure so it did not affect me in any way. However, considering the lack of facilities, I thought the price of the room itself was a bit high. Overall, the entire stay at the Red Lion was very enjoyable and the food in the pub was fantastic!
Clean and comfort room
Isolated location and nothings to do. TV size is too small.
Ambience of restaurant and menu/quality of food.
The room could best be described as 'functional'. Whilst it was neat, clean and tidy, we were disappointed that it offered no more for the price. It was small and poorly equipped. No water, no dressing gowns, no tissues, no toiletries (especially tablet of soap). From the windows we had a great view of a brick wall a few feet away. In this regard, the room compared badly with many other hotels in which we have stayed this year within this price range.
Great location to stay when visiting the Imperial War Museum at Duxford. Great and quaint country pub with excellent food. Modern comfortable rooms.
Excellent evening meal and great breakfast, good selection of local beers. Good clean and quiet accommodation.
Not a great deal the pie was a little dry, needed more gravy!
lovely lunch and location in pretty village quite/slept well PS: i know it hasn't got a spa but the relaxation bit in choice part fits best. It was really relaxing there!
working out the trendy heating
The room, We were so surprised that it looked like a mews cottage. such a lovely setting and away from the pub itself.
