The Red Lion  

We had a very pleasent stay and would recommend the red lion the food is one of the best places I have eaten

Good food Room is clean Close to Channel tunnel

Hotel is not well insulated. In winter the rooms are cold even with the heating on.

I have stayed an a large number of hotels and some pub hotels. All pub hotels have been poor until we stayed at the Red Lion. The rooms were basic but very clean and in good condition. The bathrooms were excellent, an area that lets down many hotels. They were cleaned to a very high standard. The bed was comfortable, the room was warm, toiletries were all in place as was coffee and tea. The food we ate was very good and the breakfast was excellent with good quality ingredients, good coffee and a wide selection of additional food options over and above the standard full English. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

There was little I did not like about the hotel. Even on Saturday night it was quiet (no bar noise). There was a lack of plugs in the room. The ones that were there were in use. Perhaps a minor improvement would be to put in some multi plug blocks to allow us to charge phones (we did find one eventually).

Friendly staff and the food was good home style cooking.

Refreshments and toiletries not replaced when used, although staff happy to give more when requested. Small inadequate towels.

my stay at the red lion was something i would love to do again. i would never stay anywhere else in hythe. the staff were very nice and helpful especially the hostess. the room was very nice and the bathroom was as if it had never been used. and everything needed was provided.the meals were tasty and the servings of everything very generous.i could not have been happier any where else. mavis jolleyt

The staff were excellent; both friendly and efficient. The full English Breakfast was the best I have had in a very long time. My wife "enjoyed" the continental option and remarked that the coffee was the best she had been offered anywhere. The room and bathroom were sparking clean. We enjoyed a goodnight in the very comfortable bed. Tea and coffee facilities in the room were very welcome. We were surprised to find that Hythe is such a delightful town and wished we had stayed two days. If we do go back for a second look we will be staying at the Red Lion and will also try their restaurant for our evening meal.

Just what a British pub with rooms should be. Real ale, great food,great staff, clean comfortable rooms and excellent value.Life jazz twice a month !

Friendly, accommodating staff. Food was great, especially the cooked breakfast which got the better of me. Very comfy bed!

Excellent staff and food. We had breakfast twice and the 'full english' is really good with locally sourced sausage and bacon. The bar area is really nice and the evening meal we had was very good as was the wine on special offer at £9-95 a bottle. The room was very clean and being on the front a bit noisey due to traffic but this didn't bother us.

The reception area is terrible but this shouldn't put you off. The room could do with flatscreen TVs and freeview.

Nobody there to check us in. Luckily the electrician was there and gave us our keys.There was some confusion over the room numbers, I.E. they didn't seem too sure about who was staying in which room!
