Nestled amidst stunning countryside, this 2AA Rosette award-winning late 18th century British pub is beautifully set in the heart of the ancient village of Corton Denham, on the Somerset/Dorset...

The White Hart is situated in the heart of Somerset and just 25 minutes’ drive from the M5 motorway. The property has been serving as a pub in the market square of Somerton since the 16th century.

This unique 15th-century inn is less than a mile from the centre of Shepton Mallet. It offers an extensive menu and cosy log fires just 15 minutes’ drive from Glastonbury.

A quiet rural Somerset location. Very comfortable and spacious rooms. Excellent restaurant with a reasonably priced varied menu. Left feeling contented.
Wi-Fi in the room was intermittent and virtually non existent. Not acceptable in this day and age.
Nice setup & rooms. Cosy pub with lovely food locally sourced. B&B located in a nice village in the countryside, yet easily accessible by car/main roads. Great to meet up with friends and have a weekend away.
Although it did not diminish our overall enjoyment of our stay, the eggs at breakfast could have been prepared better, the yolks were not very runny.
The food was great, can't wait to go back for more.
The Wi-Fi was cap.
The conversion of the barn accomodation was very well done and was clean and modern.
According to the promotion information, it does not say any where that the sleeping and breakfast buildings are entirely separate from bot the Pup and each other. So when we wallked in the downpour of rain for dinner and then to the seprate building for our breakfast in another downpour of rain. It was dissapointing. The floor in the barn was like concrete - and was not comfortable. Sad.
A great deal of care and thought has gone into the design and decor of the rooms. They were extremely pleasant, spacious and comfortable. I especially appreciated having fresh milk and a teapot. I do like a nice cup of tea. Both lunch and breakfast were excellent and freshly cooked. I have known a number of hotels that advertise wi-fi, but it just doesn't work. I had no problem here.
Personally, we prefer showers to baths.
Excellent service, very friendly, good food, good atmosphere
Structurally, a few problems with the accommodation - some of which the owners cannot do much about : - Very creaky floorboards above if you have a ground floor room - Noisy road directly outside window (not much traffic, but noisy when it passes) means cannot open window for fresh air overnight - No proper shower in which you can stand up
Big room Attentive service great breakfast
The room was fantastic. Tracey was wonderful and welcoming and cooked a lovely breakfast nothing was too much trouble for her
Location a bit remote if you don't have transport Couldn't connect to wifi and no one knew how to sort it when I called from my room. Requested a late check out through my bookng (between 2/3pm)and got email saying they received my request but on arrival when asked no one knew anything, I asked to let me know but no one did, found out someone else was booked into room 5 so had to check out earlier, could have let me know late checkout wasn't possible
Nice and quiet friendly and helpful staff
If you want a taxi anywhere be prepared to pay through the nose. Not really the red lions fault but be warned taxis are expensive and limited.
Fine bedroom and good breakfasts.Enjoyable ambience.
Rather limited dinner menu choice as they offered a menu for the month.
The Red Lion pub is a fantastic little find in Somerset. Conveniently located, very comfortable rooms, friendly staff, delicious food and beautiful surroundings. Great value for money.
room and bathroom was modern and clean
room was a little cold
Food quality very good
Portion size expensive need more staff behind bar
Gorgeous building, lovely quiet country location all very tastefully decorated, both bedroom and ensuite were superb and had everything you could need. Little touches appreciated, food in the restaurant and at breakfast sourced locally, as fresh as could be and a delight to eat. Lilleys apple and pears cider, also sourced locally and on draught just has to be tasted! Loved it!
Nothing to dislike
The perfectly cooked food from a reassuringly short menu ; the stylish room and bathroom; the friendly staff ; the pretty garden and the convenient car park.
We enjoyed our short break very much and disliked nothing !
Love the ambience of the place, the staff are always welcoming, the food is lovely, especially the breakfasts
Food, local Ale RESTFULL
Excellent staff, very friendly and welcoming. Clean and very well presented rooms. Great food. Quiet location.
Nothing we didn't like
Great location, great pub with excellent food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A smart place to stay.
Not a lot to dislike.
Lovely big room, massive comfy bed and beautiful surroundings
Wish we could stay longer!
Lack of flexibility for breakfast times. All residents were attending a sporting function that required an early start. The hotel couldn't / wouldn't deal with that and only a tray of cold breakfast could be left outside the rooms.
Room, food, staff, atmosphere
No wi-fi in room
Welcome was warm and friendly arranging fresh milk and bottled cold water as soon as we arrived. Rooms were spotless, well serviced, and modern with all facilities. Bathroom to tell tales of :-) Even a quiet close Loo seat
Bar & food prices towards the high end although excellent food.
Lovely atmosphere, very good food and a sweet, quiet village location. We had a lovely time.
Rooms are very smart and extremely comfortable but if I were to be picky, they could do with a bit more atmosphere (most likely because they are very new).
The food is excellent, can't fault it. The rooms are tastefully decorated. Nice selection of beverages.
We couldn't connect to the wifi. The glasses in the room were dirty. The hot water was temperamental, it ran warm for a while but then went cold, we had to wait until the second day of our stay to experience a hot bath. We booked a table for 7 o'clock in the bar area, however we didn't get seated until gone 8 o'clock, and we weren't even seated in the bar area because a table wasn't ready for us an hour after we were meant to be seated. We were given a menu when we arrived at just gone 7 o'clock, so we expected the staff to seat us soon after, however we had to tell the staff more than a few times that we had a table booked, and the reply we got was yes, but we still did not get seated. On the last time of asking we were seated but in the restaurant. We were disappointed because we were paying to stay with them however even when we booked a table for a certain time it seemed to us that the staff didn't know where or what time we wanted our table.
