The Red Lion pub is a fantastic little find in Somerset. Conveniently located, very comfortable rooms, friendly staff, delicious food and beautiful surroundings. Great value for money.
room and bathroom was modern and clean
room was a little cold
Food quality very good
Portion size expensive need more staff behind bar
Gorgeous building, lovely quiet country location all very tastefully decorated, both bedroom and ensuite were superb and had everything you could need. Little touches appreciated, food in the restaurant and at breakfast sourced locally, as fresh as could be and a delight to eat. Lilleys apple and pears cider, also sourced locally and on draught just has to be tasted! Loved it!
Nothing to dislike
The perfectly cooked food from a reassuringly short menu ; the stylish room and bathroom; the friendly staff ; the pretty garden and the convenient car park.
We enjoyed our short break very much and disliked nothing !
Love the ambience of the place, the staff are always welcoming, the food is lovely, especially the breakfasts
Food, local Ale RESTFULL
Excellent staff, very friendly and welcoming. Clean and very well presented rooms. Great food. Quiet location.
Nothing we didn't like
Great location, great pub with excellent food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A smart place to stay.
Not a lot to dislike.
Lovely big room, massive comfy bed and beautiful surroundings
Wish we could stay longer!
Lack of flexibility for breakfast times. All residents were attending a sporting function that required an early start. The hotel couldn't / wouldn't deal with that and only a tray of cold breakfast could be left outside the rooms.
Room, food, staff, atmosphere
No wi-fi in room
Welcome was warm and friendly arranging fresh milk and bottled cold water as soon as we arrived. Rooms were spotless, well serviced, and modern with all facilities. Bathroom to tell tales of :-) Even a quiet close Loo seat
Bar & food prices towards the high end although excellent food.
Lovely atmosphere, very good food and a sweet, quiet village location. We had a lovely time.
Rooms are very smart and extremely comfortable but if I were to be picky, they could do with a bit more atmosphere (most likely because they are very new).
The food is excellent, can't fault it. The rooms are tastefully decorated. Nice selection of beverages.
We couldn't connect to the wifi. The glasses in the room were dirty. The hot water was temperamental, it ran warm for a while but then went cold, we had to wait until the second day of our stay to experience a hot bath. We booked a table for 7 o'clock in the bar area, however we didn't get seated until gone 8 o'clock, and we weren't even seated in the bar area because a table wasn't ready for us an hour after we were meant to be seated. We were given a menu when we arrived at just gone 7 o'clock, so we expected the staff to seat us soon after, however we had to tell the staff more than a few times that we had a table booked, and the reply we got was yes, but we still did not get seated. On the last time of asking we were seated but in the restaurant. We were disappointed because we were paying to stay with them however even when we booked a table for a certain time it seemed to us that the staff didn't know where or what time we wanted our table.
Great place, will be staying more often!
Lovely setting for a country pub and hotel. Rooms are in a separate building and are to a high standard. Had a meal and can recommend the chefs cooking to anybody. An enjoyable experience.
Lovely modern bedroom and en suite. Delicious food and very friendly staff. Very pleased we found it. Thoroughly recommend it.
Cleanliness of rooms excellent staff very friendly food good would stay again
Cheerful, fun, accommodating staff. Particular mention should be made of Sue- an example in top drawer customer service. Good food.
Poor Wi-Fi reception.
Very welcoming on arrival and friendly service throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Nothing all excellent
The rooms, bar and restaurant where cosy and very comfortable. The restaurant food was good and service was good.
The heating was broken in our room. They were aware of a problem but hadn't checked the plumbers work.We were not advised that the menu we ordered from at dinner had run out of some accompaniments, and we were served other veg. Two of our guests would have changed their order had they known. We booked breakfast for 8.30am. 7 of us were being cooked for and served by one member of staff. Hence burnt inedible bacon served to one guest, the wrong order to another. No juice offered until we were half way through our meal. Not very organised at all. I speak as a former proprietor of a B&B, not an over fussy guest. I felt it was overpriced for the service on the day, and had I provided that breakfast I would have reduced the cost to those guests. Saving on staffing should not be at the expense of the client. Sue was very nice but needs to up the game a little or lower the price.
Very friendly and helpful staff Lovely interior design to the bedrooms Great poached eggs
The acoustics between the rooms are poor. I could hear one 'neighbour' in the room next to me snoring all night and in the room above me I could hear the water trickle from the shower and the toilet
Basically everything. The room was clean, comfortable and very spacious. Staff were very nice and obliging and the breakfast was delicious.
The standard of the bedroom.
First night left stumbling about in the dark at 17:30 hrs while attempting to gain access to room. No internet access in the room for both nights. Waited 40 mins for meal on first night, had to send the steak back, cold, came back still cold and tough. Wanted a double room had to have a twin, blanket to small for bed. Breakfast service slow first morning had to leave it, due being late for business meeting. Towels not changed on second night and bathroom floor not mopped. We were asked to eat sat at a bar table when the dinning room was empty. Overall a very disappointing experience, so much so we left after 2 nights when booked in for 3. We booked in to the Walnut Tree and payed for the third night. Your feedback and consideration would be appreciated.
