Food Excellent - generous portions
Car Parking difficulties
welcoming landlord, good basic food and good breakfast. clean room and bathroom.
Food could have been a bit more adventurous but was nice . Parking was around the corner but safe area. We were charged £20 extra for granddaughters bedding , I thought that wad a bit steep for two nights.
They were very welcoming and friendly, the room was very clean, and breakfast was fantastic.
breakfast was good and friendly landlord and wife.Clean bed and towels
in much need of an update
good very good
rooms need upgrading
Internet in the bedrooms was good. All was adequate if not inspiring. The inn is for sale and the lack of enthusiasm for the inn was apparent. A good list of things to do in the area was good.
Dinner was pretty average
The fresh sheets on the king size bed
The Inn being closed and in darkness on our arrival. The tenant who moaned all the time. Lack of car parking on site.
Lovely quaint inn - friendly staff and quit comfortable.
No on site parking
Bedding and towels
Appearance - desperately in need of painting - window-sills rotten. Worn, tired look of room. Broken sash cord - not sure window would have opened if required. Shower had very poor water pressure. In our view, very surprised it merits score of 8. Not in keeping with previous booking.com experiences.
A fairly nice country pub with a friendly and welcoming host. The bedroom was comfortable and clean.
No proper shower!
Location, transport links, friendly hosts, hearty breakfast.
The stairs - narrow treads and difficult with luggage.
Great food Lots of thick fluffy white towels Lots of hot water Friendly hosts Good beer
Not much the Pub is old and needs updating, Staff were polite and helpfull
Location was a bit remote, Although clean the whole place is in need if refurbishment and updating
Very friendly. Good atmosphere in bar, good food.
We liked the pub atmosphere and the food, both beakfast and evening meals were excelent. The room was very comfortable and the low ceiling was not a problem.
with no disrespect to the licencee the out side paintwork was in need of attention and the entrance through the garage when the pub was closed was not ideal.
The friendliness of the staff. The facilities. The siting of the Blue Ball next to the route we were travelling. The convenient car park. The countryside.
Food was excellent.
A Bit dated.
It was an awsome stay in the red lion. Neil and Belinda are a very friendly and helpful copple. Rooms are nice and clean. The surroundings are really beautiful. We would certainly come again.
Staff very helpfull and provided useful information sheets for the locality. With a baby monitor in the room able to have a drink in the pub below. Walk from sidbury through parkland to coast-sidmouth.
Bathroom basic -fine for us but others may want a stand up shower as well as a bath.
Cosy, tasty breakfast.
No stand up shower due to low ceiling. No easy parking
Very friendly host who was knowledgeable of the area. Excellent breakfast,
The outside of the building is in need of painting and some inside areas needed attention. Mirror in room was very tarnished and needed replacing plus décor update, but for what we paid was value for money
cleanliness good for dogs location breakfast
out-dated décor initial arrival
Hosts very congenial and food was ok
First impression - paint peeling off front of building - very off putting. We only stayed because we were hot and tired. White kettle in bedroom was browny/orange inside. No ventilation in bathroom. The Toilet downstairs looked as tho' it had not been cleaned for years.
Friendly and very helpful even though this was only an overnight stop for us on our way to a holiday in Cornwall. Would like a holiday based at the Red Lion - maybe next year!
