Traditional English pub Pub food good standard Breakfast cooked to order and I rate this higher than most 4* I have stayed in Friendly hosts. Attentive without being intrusive Location is very rural - off the main thoroughfare to Ulverston Bed comfortable No loud music, juke boxes, sports bar etc Very good value.

Could hear some conversation in the bar quite clearly from my room (which was directly above) - but by the time my head hit the pillow, it was a soft muffle!

The staff and locals made us welcome and the food was good.

The appearance inside and out needs some attention but this didn't affect our stay. The price of food I thought was a little on the high side.

    Food was excellent.

The walls are thin, and there was a lot of noise from the bar which, unfortunately, went on very late due to England playing in the World Cup at 11pm.

Owner and staff friendly and helpful. Sociable ambiance in the bar. Bar meals solid traditional fare. Good cooked breakfast. Decent pint of beer. Bed comfortable, room warm, plenty of wardrobe space. Bathroom clean and well provided for soaps etc. tea making facility in room.

The whole pub needs a thorough makeover. Bar seating stained and ripped. Bedroom window frame rotten and poorly repaired, and mouldy. Bathroom functioned well but signs of poor DIY repairs. Curtains almost transparent letting in day light from early in the morning. TV in our room had faulty picture.
