The staff care was excellent, they were really friendly. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the breakfast was great too.
The only negative thing I would say was that the pub is located directly ontot the road so that if you have a room facing the road as we did you are aware of traffic noise, especially if you like to have the windows open for fresh air, but that is the only negative thing that I could say about an otherwise brilliant pub to stay in.
Very friendly staff, great food. Reasonable size room.
Warm friendly welcome, great food & dogs welcome!
Beautiful building in a small, attractive village. There is a large car park. The staff were all very friendly, knowledgeable and professional and could not be faulted in any way. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean with a lovely, large bathroom. The breakfast provided a hearty start to the day and was enough to see us through to the evening meal. We also ate dinner in the restaurant. The menu is varied and, again, the quality of the food, excellent. We would definitely stay again.
There is little else in to do in Long Compton although the church with it's ancient lych gate is worth a look. Our bedroom fronted to the A3400. Although this is not an overly busy road, what noise there is might disturb some people's sleep. It would be difficult to have the windows in the bedroom open at night for this reason.
The staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean. An excellent few days away!!!
Room very comfortable , Gardens lovely, Staff were very friendly, Molton brown bath and shower products very nice products, nice clean good quality towels , daily. very good tea tray and home made biscuits. lovely full breakfast. 50/50 good to be animal friendly ( pity about how far some of the owners took this ) dogs sitting on the chairs where people would be sitting...... a bit wrong .
small problems, no shower caps ? oily stains on head board behind bed , being a little bit picky but the menu could have been a little better choice wise ,
The staff made it! We took our dog and he was super welcome throughout. Beautiful decor. Super food. Huge breakfast! Lovely inside and out. Great location.
Friendly and welcoming. Good food. Nice room/bathroom.
The bed was so large there was little room to squeeze past the bottom to get round. The lighting wasn't good for bedside reading.
Staff and place are great. Love the rural ambient and quietness of the place
Couldn't sleep very well as people were walking on the top floor and making noises after 11:00 PM. Also, the toilet made a strange and loud noise when in use.
Staff very friendly and helpfull. Quality of food excellent. near Oxford and other cities.
When you enter the hotel/pub the smell of dogs and fish. it was only in the entry.
Very friendly manager and staff. A truly hospitable atmosphere and excellent food and service. A high standard genuine English pub/inn ! We really felt at home!
Room not easily accessible for persons who have difficulty with walking because of the various steps and staircases. Check-in place and rooms not easily found by new arrivals
Friendly staff and superb breakfast. Lovely village , atmospheric pub.
Lack of shower although there was a lovely bath .
loved the Molton Brown in bathroom, food and bed was lovely
noise and bit warm at night
Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was amazing!! Excellent quality.
we enjoyed very much the cultivated historic ambiance and cosy atmosphere, the excellent cooking and the good location as a starting point for our excursions
Professional, helpful and friendly staff. Good location for visiting the Cotswolds, excellent breakfast choices and lunch / evening menu. We were pleased to have accommodation accepting dogs with no fuss or charge made.
There are no aspects to report.
Quaint old pub,rustic,comfortable,excellent food,excellent beer n drinks,great staff,quirky rooms,very clean
Mmmmm nit picking but me thinks chips were frozen , which against the very high standard of the food was a let down
All aspects of my stay were up to the usual first class standards!
So dog friendly
The staff emerge very pleasant and made us and our dog Kai feel welcome. In addition, the food at dinner and breakfast was excellent and the specials were varied and catered for most tastes unless you are spice fans. We would thoroughly recommend The Red Lion to any potential visitor.
Excellent value for money , clean comfortable accommodation in a great location. Excellent finishing touches in the room such as luxury toiletries and homemade biscuits. Gorgeous food and attentive staff. Highly recommended! Dog friendly too ! May return with our pooch next time !
Very nice welcome, charming 300 year old inn .Lovely gardens, good food and service, easy pleasant atmosphere. Fan in bedroom was a godsend in hot weather My companion , a seasoned traveller, rates crackling on Belly of Pork, and Fish n Chips dishes best he's eaten and he'd go back for those alone.
The inn and village are on a very busy road, making sleep difficult. The village should definitely have a bypass for heavy trucks. I didn't think dogs should be allowed in breakfast area, especially a smelly large shepherd. Offputting! Otherwise the perfect Cotswold Inn. I was disappointed there were no salad dishes on the menu in summer and in hot weather.
We liked everything! Food was excellent, all the staff were helpful and friendly and our room was very comfortable.
Having to leave!
The staff were only too pleased to make our stay very comfortable and memorable. Wide range of menu choices so we 'dined in' every night!
Our particular room only had a bath - no shower.
