Fabulous,

“I loved everything about The Red Lion. The staff were amazingly friendly towards me and my dog who was made to feel as welcome as I was! Food was excellent and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Very cute cosy rooms and very nice bathrooms. I was booked in to stay for one evening but ended up staying two! Hoping to go back again in January. Felt like one of the locals, who were so so friendly.”
Jo,
Maidstone
Real Ales, fine wines, superb food and a warm welcome await from your hosts, Sarah and Lisa. The interior retains an old world charm, with log fires, stone walls and oak beams. The Red Lion is a Grade 2 listed stone-built coaching inn dating from 1748, located in an area of outstanding natural beauty and well situated for Stratford Upon Avon, Warwick, Oxford and The Cotswolds. As you step into The Red Lion you will be charmed by the original character and the relaxed atmosphere. There is a pretty garden and en suite bedrooms. The Red Lion offers a creative seasonal menu, which changes regularly and has an AA Red Rosette. Much more than pub food, it has a creative brasserie style and serves locally sourced, fresh food. The Red Lion features in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2010 and the Michelin 'Eating out in Pubs’ guide 2010. Hotel Rooms: 5, Hotel Chain: Cotswold Inns & Hotels Ltd. Great location, close to all of the Cotswolds' main attractions and spacious outside areas. Quietly attractive and pristine outside appearance. Welcoming and cozy atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room with fresh and spotless en-suite bath. Terrific quality food in "deceptively pub-like restaurant". Locals seem to favor the place, so it does look quite authentic. Our stay was too short ! Plus, the Red Lion cannot be blamed for the infamous English Wather...

The food was excellent, the staff helpful. The bedroom was cosy and clean, perhaps on the small side. I would visit the Red Lion again, or recommend a visit.

The hotel staff were very polite and helpful. Our room was clean and fairly comfortable although I think the mattress could do with replacing. Also in our bathroom the heated towel rail was not working and we personally would have liked a shower cubicle. The bedroom carpet was extremely rough to walk on. This is why I have given an allround score of 6/7. Hoping this feedback is of some help.

I loved the single room the moment I entered. It was immaculate, homely, comfy bed, thick curtains, cleaned to perfection shower and bathroom and luxury touches of good coffee etc. Overlooking the car park was not a problem as it was so quiet even at closing time for the restaurant. I really enjoyed my visit and would go again. There was a choice of breakfast and I enjoyed the haddock and poached egg. Nothing to complain about.

The staff were excellent, very friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was also superb, both dinner and breakfast. We had one of the larger rooms (3), and had to go through the bedroom door and another small bedroom to get to our en-suite. This was a bit inconvenient as the door was large & heavy. Although the hotel can't do much about it, they could consider providing a door stop or wedge to hold the door open. Being really picky, my bete noir is skirting boards, the bathroom ones could do with a wipe round.

The staff were very friendly and could not do enough to help. The food was excellent - especially the breakfast My room was at the front of the building so was very noisy with traffic outside from 6 am. Also the room was not soundproof so could hear TV in the next room and noise from the corridor. The bed was a little uncomfortable.

A truely friendly atmosphere, staff are welcoming and sincere in their hospitality. Rooms are excellent for comfort and quality of furnishing & cleanliness, if you like character places this is a gem. Bar & restaurant are both comfortable with a genuine local atmosphere and service that suits regular customers and visitors to the area. A very pleasant and relaxing stay.

The young management team work hard to make this an enjoyable stay. Bedrooms are clean and well appointed. This a village pub next to the main road but the road usage noise and noise from the bar drop away at pub closing time so overall is it pretty quite during the night. The pub is very popular and the food very good. It pays to book a table.

The staff were excellent. My room, whilst being small, was very well equipped and spotless. There were lots of nice touches, including an excellent selection of Molton Brown bathing products Then menu was excellent, but a little on the pricey side but, in fairness, that reflected the quality of provision

We were really made to feel welcome by staff at all levels in the organization. The King size room was excellent and was really a suite so would highly recommend. The atmosphere in the bar and dining room was welcoming and warm. Our dog was a welcomed guest at no extra charge and if we ever go to the Cotswolds again we would not hesitate to stay at the Red Lion.
