My husband & I liked everything about our stay from the historic building, external & internal, the décor, great hygiene the lovely staff. We did not eat in the evening but the breakfast was good. Thanks for a great stay see you again soon.
All good don't change a thing!!
Tired carpets and decor.
Location Size of the hotel Restaurant & bar Staff Furniture in room View from room
Fee for car parking (Although waivered) Cleanliness of carpet in room Cracks in sink & loo
The fan in the bathroom sounded like a rocket engine at times. It had tons of white fluff inside, which I first mistook for fungus. The Wi-Fi was very unreliable and hard to connect to.
We had a wonderful stay. Thank you.
Beautiful location - had river view very olde worlde feel.
woken at 5.00am by dustbin men
Our room was large but had a lovely ambiance and had a wonderful view over the river and the Levanthian. The bed was spacious and very comfortable. We dined in the restaurant and enjoyed a delicious meal & had super breakfasts too. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We would very much like to return.
My only complaint was the poor light in the bathroom for applying make-up as we were going to a wedding. Perhaps there could be a make-up mirror to put in front of the window to get the natural light. The pillows could be more comfortable. One was very hard and the other soft but not downy.
Lovely old hotel in a wonderful location
There is not a great deal to dislike, however parking can be a bit of a challenge when the hotel is busy with no firm alternative arrangements being offered when one arrives.
1, Staff unable to direct me to hotel when lost 2. Staff failed to tell me that a hotel car park was available 3. Car parking costs £10 per night 4. Required to pay on arrival - a bit like second rate hotel 5. Room outside air conditioning unit and noisy 6. No plug for bath . 7 Fantastic local brewer - not available in hotel.
Clean, large and comfortable room, with large bathroom. Great location and a traditional feel.
A few little niggles with the remote not working and a light that was purely decorative - I couldn't find how to turn it on! Was pretty hot and no indication of how to regulate. Parking was £10 so we walked from a free residential area!
In need of a refurb
The location of the hotel was really good - and there was also ample parking which was great. Entrance and ambience downstairs felt very stylish.
The room wasn't of the standard that I had expected. Décor was really tired - 2 of the 3 lamps didn't work and it felt dusty, rather than clean and fresh. Bathroom was really poor - the blind was tatty and worn, the toilet didn't flush properly, plug / taps were broken, shower head appeared dirty (we didn't use it). This hotel, which has a lot of history and quaintness, certainly needs to bring its bathroom facilities up to scratch. The creaky floors and antique feel are nice, but the facilities and overall cleanliness would need to be much better for us to come back (£129 excluding breakfast) was too much.
Friendliness of staff and home comforts
Staff were friendly, bar nice downstairs, nice freestanding bath in my room and quiet.
Carpets were worn out in room, not the cleanest, and the furniture in the room was stained.
Poor quality furniture Breakfast (eggs, bacon etc not very warm) Worn steps on main staircase (not level)
Great Room overlooking the river, stayed here twice now & enjoyed both visits.
Staff are all very helpful , hotel is clean with a rustic touch. Peaceful room with good facilities.. Ideal Stop over, great location.
Toilet flushed poorly. TV is very small. Besides that great.
The location was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was very small and a little dated for the price.
I thought it was very underhanded to announced at check in AFTER I had parked my car that there was a £10 parking fee. They never had this before. For a hotel of this standing and the price I paid I would expect at least to find a resident car park. It smacks of 'Travelodge' budget approach to hotels. Cheap and insulting. It's not in keeping with the image they are trying to portray. It put me off staying there again.
Perfect for town centre and access to the festival. Good size rooms Very Clean Comfy beds Overall lovely feel and ambience
Car park way too small and awkward Bar very small
We had room at front of hotel though it would be noisy but was fine nice spacious room very clean friendly staff .
