Wi-fi was great; could watch netflix with no problems.
One problem I had was with the breakfast; I wasn't given any information as to how breakfast would be served (I was given the time). I went down to get breakfast, in a rush to leave early, and didn't see any way to get the English/Continental breakfast I was promised. In the end I had dry cereal!
Convenient location & free parking + wifi
Compact room & toilet but suitable for solo traveller on a business trip.
George was helpful and accommodating The house smells lovely as you come in the door. The stripped floors were a nice touch and the living room area (although a little dark) and conservatory were nicely presented
The heating needed to be switched on a couple of hours before check-in to take the chill off the room and I would have liked to see more attention to detail when cleaning. The shared bathroom needs an overhaul. My bedroom at the front suffered from road noise.
George, the guest, was really kind. Breakfast although not included in the price, was generous.
The room was a bit cold.
Close to where my son lives, handy for town (20 minute walk) off road parking lovely owner very welcoming clean rooms, comfortable bed, hairdryer is not fastened to the wall which makes a lovely change tea & coffee making facilities good filling breakfast
ensuite is no good if you carry a bit of weight as it is lomng and very narrow, only as wide as a box shower, but they have made best use of the room available and it very clean
A tad cold in the room and i was advised of a different location for breakfast which was odd even though I had not pre booked
Really close to the city for a very cheap price and for a very welcoming room. Might consider it again if i ever come back to oxford.
Room and linen was very clean also shower room, but need more towel rails and a shelf for toiletties.
The bed was a bit too soft for us.
Breakfast was reasonable. Cleanliness was reasonable.
Tiny single room, - box room with sink. No ensuite, no room for a work table or chair and expensive for what you got.
staff, location, tidiness, quietness
It was a stop-over before travelling down to Wantage and en route.
Having to share a toilet and shower. Not being able to have breakfast until a later hour and I needed to be on the road by then. The single room was tiny and I paid £50 just for a box-room.
Room was clean and tidy. Breakfast very nice.
Shortage of tea and coffee makings, had to as for extra. No toilet roll in toilet, again had to ask.
The floor was dirty. It had not been cleaned in either bathroom nor in the bedroom. There was no hand towel and no shower gel in the bathroom. I am quite sure that the breakfast was heated by microwave. It was expensive and there was no hospitality. I would not recommend this place to anybody and I would not return there. Pity because I visit Oxford quite often.
value for money - friendly staff; and the location for the business I needed to do.
room was rather small; had to share bathroom; skirting boards could do with a clean
Clean, safe and so comfortable. The bed was amazing! Also, the staff were so friendly and helpful.
The price was a little more than I would have liked but seems pretty standard for Oxford.
Room was comfortable and well equipped, bed was comfy
Staff were not very friendly and it was expensive for what it was. They also tried to charge us more than what we paid through booking.com (an extra £20) telling us that it was 'wrong' and that we had to pay. They continued to remind me that we had got a 'very good price' which we shouldn't have got, which I thought was very rude. Had to ring booking.com to sort it out, not good!
The staff where very friendly and very polite, they made the stay. Location is good with the b&b being on a direct road into Oxford. Nicely decorated room.
The shower was very hard to get a the right temp. A little more attention to detail on the cleaning but was ok. We was given the ground floor room which you heard the front door go every time. The breakfast was a huge let down. Sausages poor quality, coffee was served in a tea pot and just generally poor. Window seals on the breakfast room are dirty. Wouldn't say it was £95 a night
We arrived after 2300, but the owner was still very accommodating. We were in two rooms, with a common room that all guests share. This place is not "swept up," but I was very fond of it for some reason. The bedrooms are smallish, but show a lot of attention to detail and thoughtfulness. Good Wi-Fi. There is parking and the location is very close to the university, while being far enough out not to be caught up in the traffic of Oxford. If they'd had rooms available, we would have extended our stay. it was just what we were looking for.
Within walking distance of the town, cheap and cheerful. Ok at the price.
i didnt like the fact that the owner wasnt at the property on hand if there was a problem. it seems they were staying nearby at another property.
The location in Oxford was good.
Shared bathroom. Room on 1. floor was too hot and lacked aircondition or just a ventilator.
They found us alternative accommodation
On arrival, you find a notice in the window asking you to call a mobile number. As we are non UK resident that was Awkward and costly. Only other guests seemed to be on site. When the landlord arrived he explained a problem with the bathroom meant we could not stay. No attempt had been made to contact us before arrival We were transferred to a separate hotel. The ridings expected us to pay that hotel, which was a much better property and set up as a 2 star hotel BUT bookings.com had already reserved the funds on my credit card against the ridings. The new hotel was more expensive but the ridings wanted us to pay the difference. I refused and told the ridings to sort the finances out with the new hotel themselves I will not use the ridings again, but I will use the other hotel when I return to Oxford.
Handy location, helpful hosts, off road car park, very comfortable bed. Very good value.
Oxford Traffic! (not the guest house's fault!)
I had a good sleep as I was at the back of the house. Staff member seemed friendly. He carried my bag to my room and wished me luck when I was leaving.
I had to get a bus to the guesthouse as it was too far to walk, but I knew this before I booked. Nobody answered the door even though check in times were specified on my booking confirmation. I phoned the number that was on the window and I had to wait another 5-10 minutes for a staff member to arrive on bike. The wifi did not work on either of my two phones or my tablet even though there appeared to be a signal. I was sharing a bathroom (not sure how many people were using it) that was downstairs, and while I knew this when I booked, I feel this is unacceptable in 2014 if the accomodation provider is charging £75 for one night. I didn't avail of the "free" breakfast because I was not convinced of the cleanliness judging from the mugs and furniture in my room. Overall, completely overpriced and disapointing. If you accept that Oxford is expensive, I would advise stretching your budget.
Toilet didn't work, old furniture, small bathroom, expensive
