The whole atmosphere was one of elegance and an old fashioned luxury. This hotel would We think be hard to better anywhere in the world.

Got a free rom upgrade which was fantastic. All in all was a great stay. Very limited in terms of soap, shower gel, shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom. Very limited in terms of british tv channels. Lots of cinternational channels but hardly any uk tv channels. Creaky floors in the room too when you walk across the room.

Excellent staff apart from guy at checkout. Excellent food. Used Ritz a lot always excellent service except for this one occassion. Always been extremely pleased. Felt we were unfairly treated about cost of one of our nights accommodation.

Whole packages Arriving to find the double room booked had turned into twin beds and a birthday cake - explained it wasn't our birthdays - panic re-arrange or room cake whisked away - told would receive complimentary chock - did not arrive!! Then shutters came down on the windows and we could not open them the button did not work. Had to leave room earlier than planned due to feeling trapped! You should not put the shutters down - ask guests if they want that facility and let them do it themselves. These 2 incidents marred our stay but it's still a great hotel.

The staff were very friendly and helpful with nothing being too much trouble. The room was super with all the extra little touches which my daughter loved. The location was exactly what we wanted and very quite considering the road. A real treat and we will be returning. There is absolutely nothing that we did not like,

The front reception staff were brilliant, we were escorted to our room. Plus a seat in bar was reserved for us both. The porter who parked our car (cheaper than any local car park) always smiling and so helpful. There was also an option to leave later by calling front desk Dirty table in Rivoli bar, sat right next to area used for waiters to leave plates, got drinks straight away, but after being in bar for 30 minutes had to ask for food as not delivered. Persistent clearing away of napkin/cup etc, even when still eating, felt rushed. Later in the evening refused entry to the club(complimentary membership was for all hotel guest) & club door man rude, then told problem with gaining access to Rivoli bar for a drink, so left for room. Room 527 was noisy from fans outside hotel and we could hear people in next room. I emailed the hotel with my issues, and although stated not wish to speak during the check out, I had to say I will speak the next day, Manager offered a free bottle of Champagne & Canapes on next visit. But still amazed at the experience, definitely not worth the cost, Was supposed to have been a valentine gift for my wife, unfortunately it was spoiled.

Great location and wonderfull staff. Standard double room is big with all facilities. You can feel an expiration of time - it isn't old but not fresh. Mini bar should be included in such luxury hotel.

Staff on arrival, the beautiful gesture of a birthday cake with beautiful linen and china plates in the room, the upgrade, very friendly staff where ever we were in the hotel. This is my first point other than the Accounts department. I was devasted when after departing on the 24th January 2013 and paying with a English cash passport card our account was I dont know what the word is but an authorization amount of 560 pounds was pending and it was not removed until further emails and phone calls until 13th of February 2013. My mother and I are still devasted and the situation has left mainly me, very stressed and made what was a pleasant stay unbearable. As it was my 60th birthday while we were in London visiting my new grandson, my mother's gift to me was a High Tea then we thought why not finish off with accommodation and breakfast over night. This financial debarkle has left a very bitter and stressful end to what should have been one of the most memorable time. I also wonder if this happens to everyone who stays at the Ritz London. I think an apology at least should be forthcoming, dont you? Can you please explain the procedure and why it happend? I am still very upset as I feel someone must have felt that my mother and I were criminals as this is how I now feel when ever I think of the Ritz London!!!!
