In the centre of the small, charming town of Rye, the Ship is a modern take on the traditional English inn - a cosy pub, rich in original character, with simple, comfortable en suite rooms above.

Having booked a really good value B&B stay through booking.com, I was surprised to get an email direct from the hotel. They were letting me know that there was a special event on the night we were coming and, as well as offering us the chance to buy tickets for it (which didn't fit in with our plans) they said that they had given us a room as far away as possible from the noise. Very considerate and much appreciated. Everything during our stay was as good as this led us to expect. Apart from breakfast, we didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the meals.
the view from our bedroom, the friendliness of the staff.
Dinner menu choices were limited but with very few guests at this time of year this was understandable. We enjoyed the choices we made.
- Staff were helpful and attentive - Car parking (very difficult to park in the main town and most people from hotels in the centre of Rye park in the pay and display car park next to the River Haven!) - Good sized, clean rooms - Excellent breakfast
- The restaurant was a little chilly (it was in a conservatory but we wrapped up against it next time!)
the full english breakfast was excellent and great we were given a free upgrade
no proper bar area or lounge
Location good. In walking distance to the wedding venue, the purpose of the stay. Rooms were clean, comfortable bed.
we were charged an extra £10 per room because we asked if the room could be ready earlier as we were attending a 2.30 wedding. mould on the bread at breakfast and unclean table, not cleaned from previous user. breakfast not very appetising.
Located close to where we were attending a party. Easy to find. Reasonable off road parking. Spacious well equipped rooms
Flickering light in the corridor gave a poor impression. No lifts for people with poorer mobility.
Excellent breakfast nice location Free parking Very good for families with young children
Friendly staff, very good breakfast and reasonable price for Rye.
Good Location, nice staff . Breakfast was buffet with a wide variety of choice. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and the meal was very nice.
My partner was very tall and we ended up with a double bed as that was all they had when we booked. The duvet was not tall enough for him resulting in a poor sleep.
very friendly and most helpful staff and good size breakfasts which were well cooked
very poor variety of choice for the evening meals
The hotel is ideally appointed within walking distance of Rye, and is comfortable and clean with freindly staff.
The hotel provided cheap party type plasic cups, rather than a glass for drinks in the room, which is a shame. The 'biscuit' provided with tea making, was very small indeed!
Extremely friendly and efficient staff, comfortable and clean room, ample car parking and short walk into Rye town. Excellent breakfast and carvery lunch on Sunday. Overall it was a good value hotel.
It was all good!
hotel was very clean staff friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble for them ,the breakfast was lovely cooked to perfection ,location very nice close to town bus and train station.
The lady at the reception was so lovely - welcoming, friendly, informative and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean and very cosy, everything in the bathroom worked, shower great and plentiful hot waster. Breakfast was good. The hotel is in a great position for the town. Couldn't fault a thing.
Often stay at this hotel because we know we can rely on the high standard of rooms and breakfast never disappoints.
Nothing to disappoint us apart from the weather!
Comfortable & friendly hotel
The hotel is in a good spot for walking into the town. Enjoyed going to the very large market to look round.
Not having a private lounge for guests
The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful, even a request to borrow a table lamp to take out of the hotel was met. The bed I had on this visit was extremely comfortable (upstairs double-room with river view) unlike on a previous visit when I had a less expensive downstairs family room.
Staff polite and professional, room spotless with a very comfortable bed.breakfast offering excellent choice and well cooked
everything was perfect
I enjoyed the full english breakfast. The location was close to the town.
It was in a great location, had very friendly staff and was very clean too. The breakfast was good and all the hotel and room facilities were very great. The price compared to other hotels in Rye was much more affordable.
I checked in in a rush to go a wedding and was let in late. I went to my room after midnight but could not find the wi-fi code anywhere in the room, not even in the hotel folder. I went back to reception but by then it was closed and the wi-fi code was not on display, only that it was available. So I didn't have any wi-fi at all. I told the staff when I checked out and they said it should have been in the hotel folder in the room so I guess it was just an oversight. However having the wi-fi password on more public display woul dhave been helpful. However the staff took my comments on board, were apologetic and said they would look into it.
The first thing I noticed was the professionalism of the staff, even at breakfast the young local staff were friendly and efficient, even noticing we didn't have any teaspoons for out coffee. Being a stones throw to Rye Quay and the town centre I thought is was excellent value
The places was a little dated but spotlessly clean. the pictures on the wall we found pointless but I've seen worse, at those prices who cares.
Good choice of breakfast nicely cooked, close to town with river view. All staff are very friendly and helpful.
evening restaurant closed too early for us.
Location. Good hearty buffet breakfast.
Attitude of reception staff was unfriendly. Trying to get a drink from the bar was an obvious inconvenience. The decor is dated and overall the cost does not reflect the quality
Nice clean comfortable room. Friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Good choice for breakfast and evening meal available if required.
There was nothing we didn't like.
