I liked the attention to detail in every aspect of this hostel ; from the very personal approach of the owners ,to the good hotel standard of the amenities and catering. The best.
Friendly staff, excellent location
Very cosy and friendly. Great great breakfast. Very accomadating staff ...highly recommend
Everything was very clean. The Bedrooms, the Bathrooms and even the kitchen. Great Breakfast, nice evening events. Would stay here again everytime!!
WLAN didn't work in my room. I didn't really mind because I could have it in the commun room. I'm sure, they would immediatly fix that problem if you would ask.
Great location, clean, steady wi-fi, plenty of choices for breakfast.
We have a twin room (bunk bed), and the size of the room is very small.
Friendly staff good facilities great location
That I asked for a bottom bunk every day and never got one
The hostel was clean and comfortable and closs to everything. The intermate and cosy living space and kitchen made for a very friendly environment and the staff were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was amazing and the tea an coffee was available at all times dinner was even provided for a pound some nights.
Breakfast is pretty well
Staff are really nice and helpful. Clean bathroom. They had free drink, pie and icecreem or something everyday which was good.
Staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. Really good value for money.
Wifi reception in top rooms poor.
Highly recommended. Charlie, the co-owner checked me in and was sooo friendly showing me around. The brother/sister duo run a very clean and welcoming hostel, well worth the money. It's in a great location and quiet. The breakfast they offer is fully loaded and the atmosphere is unbeatable.
a very short walk from the train station. friendly staff clean and fairly recent furniture (you don't feel like you walked back into the 70's or the 80's in there)
I couldn't have chosen any better - what an amazing Hostel - excellent location, excellent staff and just a lovely place to stay at. Charlie was very helpful and I received a handy sheet at check in with the best places to visit in and around Cardiff, it even had the bus numbers on there. There was a free cider evening in the Hostel with snacks and chocolate cake the following night. The breakfast was amazing - better then in many Hotels. It also was a true bargain - I would have happily have paid more - and I will definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Cardiff.
A couple of small things that can easily be rectified - the door or my dorm was very squeaky, it was therefore difficult to come and go quietly. Rubber or plastic bath mats would be brilliant to keep the bathroom floor dryer.
It is arealy lovely, homey place. The staff are all friendly and kind. I enjoin the optional extras each night. And the breakfast is the best by far.
My bed did make a lot of noise. But I am sure If I had remembered to mention it, the problem would have been solved. Slight problems with the kitchen. I mean it's great but it really does not work if every one decides to be in there all at once.
Really close to the party stree
This was our second stay. We were not disappointed. We love the atmosphere here. If we make it back to Cardiff, we will stay here again,
Everything is great! I'm going to stay there next time I'm in Cardiff. It's really cozy place with amazing hosts! Abi and Charlie thank you very much!
Well this is a house and it obviousely doesn't have lift) and, as I understood, female-only rooms and at the top) and my bag was heavy))
We stayed a sat night a couple of weeks back, the guy owns it with his sister and is the nicest bloke. Nothing is too much trouble. We set up a little BBQ outside, the atmosphere was calm and friendly with families and friends, eating, playing games etc. I've always been a bit warey of staying in a hostel but if they are all like this I'll never go back! Showers are good and clean, breakfast is nice
Rooms are very small.
Everything, it was all perfect
Very friendly and welcoming, clean, lush breakfast, we had free cheesecake but some nights they do food for a pound. Excellent location very close to Central station and the city centre - it overlooks the Millenium stadium.
Nothing to dislike
Riverhouse Backpackers is a small hostel, but I think this is one of it's charms. It has a very homely feel about it. I really felt comfortable and relaxed in the dining area, especially considering you were allowed as much free Tea & Coffee as you liked! The breakfast is absolutely amazing, there was so much choice that i didn't know where to start. I also really loved the free food nights - they were a great way to meet other like-minded travellers. Having full access to the kitchen and all crockery and cutlery was a great help, and I cooked my on meals most nights. The hostel is very close to Cardiff's Central train station and not that far away from the town center, Bute Park and Cardiff Castle with a gorgeous view of the river and the Millennium Stadium. All I can say is book early, this place sells out fast but there is a very good reason why!
Had some issues with the wi-fi on the top floor on my first night but I mentioned it to the staff and they had it fixed by the next day. The fact that there was no dryer was a bit of a problem, I hung my clothes up outside but it was raining on and off so I had dirty clothes for a few days. The bathrooms were okay but a bit of a nuisance - beware of the exposed water pipes when bending down! Lastly, although I would most definitely stay at this hostel again, next time I will be requesting to not be allocated bed 1 in room 12. There is a slanted roof, and the corner of a edge which covers almost half of the top bunk where I slept - during the night and in the morning I kept accidentally hitting it and it drove me crazy - the side of my head is still a bit tender! I mentioned it to the reception and they said they would move the bed out (I don't think this happened, but there probably wasn't room for it anyway). I really don't think there should be a top bunk on that side of the room!
I cannot fault Riverhouse Backpackers. Wonderful friendly helpful staff - Charlie abd Abi fantastic people, nothing is too much trouble, great facilities including showers.loos, breakfast superior to most 5* hotels, excellent value for money and great location, always my preferred choice. will be staying again later in the year.
