Traditional hotel with modern feel
Poor wifi and shower
Great location - close to station and city centre. Lots of character - rooms well furnished and comfortable
Nice location Walking distance from the Station and town centre. Next door to leisure centre and large retail shops. Fantastic rooms but you can hear other folks tv, music etc from adjoining rooms through walls and ceiling. excellent staff fine for 1 night stay.
Very limited breakfast cooked breakfasts only No continental type / bread / toast or cereal available. Orange juice yes but pay per glass - same for cups of tea and coffee. Pay for room at check- in. Then meal and breakfast all separate payments, rather than settle up at check out.
Nicely converted watermill Good chef
We loved the decor, the style was carried through from the restaurant and into the bedroom. The room was really comfy and unique and it felt homely. We also ate in the restaurant which was a great experience, the food was excellent and there was an extensive menu to choose from. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who fancies a short getaway.
The wifi access didn't work for us, that's the only negative thing.
We were told that the £85 didn't include breakfast but as we had it in writing that breakfast was included they honoured it.
I liked it all haven't tried food yet but will do soon
The ambience of the pub. The room was outstanding and very romantic. All in all, much better than expected.
The hotel did not have our booking registered but luckily still had a room available. I feel this was a fault with Booking.com rather than the hotel as they said it had couple of times before.
No loo roll. No phone to call reception. Asked staff to sort when on my way out, returned late to find it hadn't been done. Parking was a problem, no spaces and other parking was limited time. Noisy upstairs room as well. No info regarding WiFi.
Lovely warm comfy room
No fresh fruit at breakfast
Staff are helpful, efficient and friendly, rooms are large and comfortable - the building is an old mill, so lots of exposed beams everywhere. Christmas dinner was superb, and Matt and Francesca laid on an excellent breakfast.
The assistance of the very limited staff members two
Missing lights, scaffolding around building and windows, no hot water at all, dirt and grime with building dust, significant water leakage from the wash stand, no parking for vehicles local council park always full and GBP4 per day, I doubt if they would pass the Regulatory standards, and they are closing down in October for a rebuild programme. No refund has been offered in fact refused, but they have offered a free night and meal next year - NO CHANCE WE DECLINED ONCE BITTEN. We found the Lion Hotel Boreham for our second night Magnificent and also excellent staff and hospitality codes. Choice for our stay in 2015.
The room was very unique with old wooden beams and well updated to provide modern comfort
The sausages at breakfast. I requested a quiet room but was awoken by the early morning traffic but this may have been due to the requirements to conform with the regulations for listed buildings
Very clean spacious rooms full of character. Good food served in bar. Missed breakfast because of an early start.
Rooms not soundproofed enough. Could hear next door talking through wall (they weren't being loud). Hot water fm both taps in bathroom.
Looking out down the river
No mention of parking on site ... And a charge incurred.
The place is very quirky with a lovely garden outside surrounded by water.
The room was very noisy, when some in the room above ran a tap it sounded like there was a waterfall above my head. When anyone used the stairs is was very loud. I believe they are due to be renovated soon.
The atmosphere of the old building, small hotel and large room, nice pub downstairs with good food, nice staff
Accessibility problematic (lots of stairs), shower a bit tricky - but that's what comes with the age of the building I guess
Location by the riverside lovely for walks, also v handy to be right next to a large leisure centre and some very good restaurants. A very period building if that is preferred.
Very creaky floorboards as v old building. I could hear, very amplified, every foot fall of the guest above me. Also, room needed a bit of TLC. Marks on furniture, which didn't match, small repairs needed in bathroom, all a bit neglected. I stay in a lot of hotels for business and this was not the usual standard expected.
Atmosphere was great, I was on business trip, there was a quiz night on in the restaurant bar area which felt homely, the food was quickly prepared and excellent, also good range of beers and ciders, staff are really helpful and service was great. I watched world cup football on the big screen near the bar.
Only 2 points, The window in room 5 is high level, so no view outside, but this is because the building is some 500 years old, charachter and design of the building is quite special. Other point is I could not find a hair dryer, new staff recently taken over this Inn and they are finding their feet, and doing a good job to improve the place.
The place had a charming character. Staff were very helpful & friendly. Beautiful beer garden at the rear.
Availibility of parking.
Great service, lovely charming building, great location, loved the room
Bed was very springy and noisy....
Nothing not to like
The position of the Hotel was great for our needs. Clean, good atmosphere, food good and room a good size. Also had a nice area outside next to the river with plenty of seating.
Only car park is opposite and you have to pay, the room was let down by the noise from room above. When guests in that room used the toilet and the bath, everything was heard in our room as the waste pipes ran thru the room instead of outside. With this in mind we thought the room rate rather high.
Young lady who showed me to room was very nice and welcoming.
I would recommend a couple of bottles of water in the room. When I tried to use the cold tap it was, even after a minute still running warm to hot! Please serve breakfast at a more sensible hour. 9:00 is far too late even at the weekend and this will make a difference to my to future bookings.
Friendly staff and very helpful lovely room very comfortable good food restful no hassle Great position
