We used it as a work party/reunion, however it is also a good place to stay if you are doing business in or near Halifax and have access to a car. It is close to the motorway network with good parking and handy for halifax/hudderfield. Additionally if you're planning to explore the countryside around halifax it's a pleasant base.

My partner and I chose this hotel as it was very close to the venue we were visiting for a wedding anniversary. We found it to be very comfortable and excellent value for the price. The staff were superb friendly and very helpful. I particularly enjoyed the full English breakfast, black pudding the best I've ever tasted. I will definately stop at The Rock again, and would have no hesitation in recommending it.

The room I had was clean and comfortable, unfortunately, the other family members did not have the same luck. No heating in the room, no light bulbs in the lights and very uncomfotable beds. These kind of checks should be made prior to and guests checking in. As stated previously, the room i stayed in was fine.

The staff were very helpful. Food was fantastic. Our room could've done with a more thorough clean. There were hairs in the bathroom and a dirty footprint on the floor. Bit unpleasant.

Very pleasant and helpful staff, very good place for large gatherings/events, very big car park, next to beautiful countryside. Hair dryer and heated towel rail in bathroom didn't seem to work, weren't there long enough to investigate. Some light coloured carpets had lots of marks on.

The service was particularly impressive, especially the reception staff. The bedrooms were an excellent size(so many hotels cram double beds into 3/4 size rooms) Therewas no shower gel or shampoo povided, which is usually the case. Also, although the breakfast was fine, we have had much better in diferent hotels in the same price category.

The staff very friendly and helpful and the food is of a very good standard. Rooms are small, bed not very comfy. Why on earth does the piped music outsidethe rooms start at 7am on a Sunday. Really irritating.

The food was excellent, the room comfortable The tv did not work. The toilet had a problem. The excrements of another room arrived to our toilet.... Pretty disturbing. Advised staff in the morning before leaving.

The food was the only redeeming feature of this hotel , excellent cuisine. Told on arrival no tv's working due to being no freeview boxes ( a simple trip to tesco or its like would have sorted this problem out ) only tv was in bar but only had football on . I asked if wifi was available in the rooms and was told it was . in fact the only place that wifi worked was in the bar when i asked again. so really no facilities to speak of other than staring at the 4 walls .or spending money in the extortionate bar.

Staff were very helpful, provided iron & ironing board & extra tea & coffee, free wifi is very handy. Room was small with a view of a wall, albeit with a mural on it. Carpets were dirty & there were stains on one of the cushions. Despite the website advertising room rates including breakfast my booking with booking.com specifically stated breakfast excluded. I'm not sure if I got a discounted rate for the room but £66 for the night without breakfast doesn't represent particularly good value. Unable to sample any food due to the kitchen closing at 5pm on a Sunday and seems there's nowhere else in the near vicinity to eat so our party of 7 went by taxi north of Halifax.

The restaurant, Churchills was exceptionaly good. Both staff and food. However, when I stayed there was a function for 160 people in progress who had taken over both the reception areas and the function room, result nowhere for residents to sit and have a quiet drink or relax. Also, although the room was spotlessly clean and well appointed the TV was not properly tuned in resulting in poor reception and a lack of some channels. I would use this hotel again but, with hindsight, I would save money and probably book a standard double room and not an 'Executive' and not for more than one nights duration at a time.
