We stayed at the rose and crown on the 18 December the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming room very nice and fresh food was great try the salmon and beef burger wonderful we went to concert at holmfirth that night lalandlady ordered us a taxi came on time only tuck 15 minutes had breakfast next morning that cooked by landlady excellent full English I would stay here again and tell all my friends good place to stay
A proper English pub with a good selection of real ales, reasonably priced wine list & some decent food
Excellent hosts who catered for our needs in a friendly manner. Well worth a stay for those wanting a quiet welcoming value-laden stay.
Liked everything. Location was good for the picturedrome in Holmfirth with a taxi costing £6. This was kindly booked for us. To be honest I would have happily spent the evening in the Rose and Crown, food was lovely, atmosphere was very relaxed, warm and friendly, it was also too cosy to leave. The rooms are very clean and the bed was one of the comfiest I have slept on. We will definitely be back to stay and just call in for a meal. Thank you to everybody for making us so welcome.
Old pub , friendly staff, very nice food, comfy bed, spacious bedroom, landlady went out of her way to run us into the town as we struggled for a cab late evening. Will be visiting again..
The bed was very comfortable, the food was freshly cooked and tasty.
A little noisy, but then there was a darts match on, my room was above the bar but I am not one to complain these games can be very important.
Nice people and a clean comfortable room.
Food, both super and breakfast was terrible. Supper was of the freezer to fryer variety. Breakfast was Wall's sausages and packet bacon. Nothing local, fresh or free range as fair as I could tell. Sad. So much promise in this lovely place.
food and staff
The Food, The beer, the atmosphere and the location
Great hosts with friendly locals. Good food.
Comfy bed, big room, friendly staff, big breakfast, good bathroom
Dog barking in the morning woke us up early. Pub is obviously fairly loud so early bedtimes could also be an issue
friendly staff very helpful. food was excellent . room was comfortable and we really enjoyed our 4 night stay.would not hesitate to recommend to others.
The people, the staff and customers, good old fashioned pub atmosphere.
Nothing too much trouble stayed here many times IMO best pub in the country me and my mate love the food the people and in particular the surroundings the staff and of course the drinks !!!
Loved everything about this pub. The staff are friendly, the food good and the beer excellent. We chose the pub for an overnight stay due to its close proximity to Storthes Hall Student Village where our daughter is currently living so we could combine seeing her and also to celebrate my birthday. We stayed in Room 1, very clean and a comfortable bed. The breakfast was cooked fresh and there was plenty of it. Will certainly be back hopefully early spring when we maybe able to take one of the walks around the area which you can find details of at the pub.
Nothing to dislike. Perhaps mugs in the room instead of cups but not a big deal.
A great welcome and fantastic food. Would definitely stay here again.
Great location in the hills. Good accommodation and a nice bar with a good range of well kept real ales. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Having to go past the storage end of the kitchen to get to our rooms.
Lovely traditional pub accommodation, very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable and clean and warm rooms, great food in bar.
The staff were great. owners were most helpful.(even tho we did not get back till after 2am.) The food was the best we have had in a long time. Will be going back again.
Having to get up and lrave.
Everything from the room to food to people to the drinks. Cannot be beaten.
Nothing at all
This is a comfortable establishment, cosy, warm and clean. We had the best night's sleep in a long time. Breakfast was great. Everyone was very friendly. Definitely one to recommend.
fast, free wi-fi friendly people nice and warm good beer and pub food spacious bedroom
no mugs or spoons in bedroom (hardly a disaster however!)
Friendly atmosphere great food friendly staff comfortable beds helpful info about local area
Lovely traditional country pub. Service excellent, lovely friendly staff, food and drink first rate. We had a lovely relaxing stay and would definitely go back.
The staff were all wonderfully friendly which created a lovely atmosphere. The food was excellent, the best fish and chips I've had in years. A really great little 'proper' pub. We will definitely use again if we're in the area.
