Located in the picturesque hamlet of Greta Bridge, this traditional and peaceful 4-star AA hotel is in a beautiful location close to the Tees Valley and Yorkshire Dales.
Score from 153 reviews Very good
Friendly and relaxed welcome. Rooms very comfortable. Food and real ale excellent. I also liked the way I was asked where I would like to be seated for my meal. Sometimes when travelling alone staff don't bother about this.
The staff are professional and respectful, the food is really nice and the beer of good quality. The rooms are furnished in high quality materials ensuring a good nights sleep.
I would like to see the price reduced a little.
Breakfast and Dinner Friendliness of staff Location
Room was small and too hot at night. Air-con was provided, but very noisy, so didn't sleep much either way. Apparently they are doing something about it in the close season.
Location Friendly staff Comfortable beds Dinner 1st. night Lovely restaurant
Ground floor bed rooms are not our 1st.choice
Free upgrade to one of the spacious, comfortable Coach Houses. Hotel is situated in a quiet, lovely pennine village with nice walks nearby. Food generally good, wide range of choices at breakfast with a good 'full english'.
Only minor niggles, eg. a couple of items of our evening meals were over or under cooked
Room spotless and comfortable. Food excellent. Staff efficient and friendly. One of the best hotels we have stayed in.
Lack of background music in the bar . Leaving.
Location...easy access to beautiful countryside in all directions and near to historic sites and traditional town shopping. Welcomed with cheery greetings every day by all staff. Good wine good food good beer and comfy bed...what more could you want.
Athmosfere, location actual building
Departure: too businesslike, no personal touches like questions about if we enjoyed our stay (we stayed there for 5 days) etc. Just 'pay and leave'. They could do better there.
This hotel did everything well
The quirkiness of the suit (15) and the friendliness of the staff. I also really enjoyed the breakfasts.The. Food generally was very good and drinks reasonably priced. I would go again.
Although, I realise, it is now spring the room was not very warm and it seemed that the central heating was turned off. There was an electric heater in the suit which I used late afternoon/ early evening.
This was our 5th visit and as usual, everything was perfect except the weather!
Friendly staff, excellent location, very comfortable - no hesitation, we will return!
staff very helpful could not do enough for us good feel to the hotel it is our third visit and certainly would go again if price was right
Very nice breakfasts and lunchtime sandwich but unfortunately we didn't get the chance to sample the evening menu due to commitments elsewhere.
Bit quiet in the restaurant and could overhear others conversations therefore
Excellent service. Everything went smoothly without a fuss. We had a perfect weekend.
Lovely old pub with excellent food and beer. Comfy bed bright new linen. Very friendly staff.
Heat, the bar was oppressively hot (open fire) and the staff wouldn't let us open the door as the restaurant wasn't hot, the restaurant door could have been closed, the window was painted shut. We moved out the bar to the residents lounge. They just need to get the window to open. TV didn't have all the digital channels despite me re-tuning it.
Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Excellent food served in a relaxed atmosphere.
Noisy extractor fan in bathroom!
We stayed in one of the courtyard superior rooms which was a delight, recently renovated and decorated, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Ideal location for local walks, which the staff are happy to provide info and printed maps on. Will definitely return.
A bit disappointed over lack of choice on set menu. No chicken dish. However, we did enjoy the venison. Will probably try the Brasserie next time.
Liked the friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Location was perfect for our needs (walks and photography). Breakfast was excellent with a good variety available.
Bed was a little on the soft side for my wife (but ok for me). Dinner menu was a little restricted, but the food was very good.
Staff were lovely and very helpful. breakfast was very good. beautiful location.
bathroom needs some attention. wine was very expensive. food was expensive the olives were gorgeous.
We had a lovely 2 night stay & the room was beautiful (Room 10). The hotel is very homely & warm with a lovely bar area & open fire. We ate in both the restaurant & bar & both were excellent. Romaldkirk is a lovely village & we will certainly go back.
This is a wonderful gem of a hotel in a quiet setting in North Yorkshire. The accommodation was first class as was the service of the staff and the wonderful food on offer. We will return - no question and I would definitely recommend this hotel.
The rooms are fantastic but a fridge and iPod dock / charger would add to the experience.
Attractive setting, well designed comfortable rooms. Dog friendly. Gourmet cuisine.
