Micheal gave us a friendly welcome, showed us around and made a pot of tea. Very welcome after our journey. The Rothesay was clean, comfortable and we used the swimming pool and sauna each day during our stay. The breakfast was well cooked, with a nice selection of food. I would definitely stay here again. Probably the friendliest, most helpful owners of any Hotel where I have ever stayed.
Not enough time, needed more
We were made to feel very welcome, given a free upgrade on our room and complimentary coffee and cake on arrival. The room was spacious, clean and light. Great location to explore Highcliffe Castle and other surrounding areas.
Location lovely staff clean and airy room (very comfy bed) delicious breakfast handy for Highcliffe castle/beach good pub nearby
A warm welcome, with complimentary tea and cake. Ideal location next door to the Lord Bute where we were attending a wedding reception. Comfortable courtyard room. Delicious breakfast. Would definitely recommend
Location was good. They were lovely staff especially the young girl who greated us! They also let us take our bikes out back, for safety, this we were grateful for. I did mention or ask if they had soya milk, they didn't but the next morning Ilearnt they had got some in for me!
The room (no.10) was too small over crowded with furniture! The shower room was a discrace, holes in the wall! In the bedroom the wall heater was hanging off the wall. The shower smelt damp n musty like an old peoples home. Not impressed at the rate we were charged! Shame we wil not return
Good to know you will not be disappointed. Returned here from a visit a couple of weeks ago. Great room [Room 2], Great breakfast, had a really comfortable nights rest. The hotel was beautiful. The area downstairs was spacious and very nicely decorated. There is a swimming pool which is a bonus and an unexpected surprise. The full English Breakfast was excellent with excellent service. Michael was an excellent hosts, detail that you wouldn't of experienced in any other hotel in the area. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel [B&B] and I have stayed at quite a few in the area on previous visits. This is definitely my favourite Thank you Dee & Michael for making my stay so pleasurable.
Wish I could of stayed longer!
Very nice a clean place, but a bit far from the train station. Very comfortable room and queit place.
Breakfast was excellent other than the use of crusts for toast.
T.V. Could not pick up BBC channels, I think they must be located in a very bad reception area. ITV channels were O.K. Wi-Fi was only available in the reception area having asked the proprietor to re boot their system. Not able to connect in my room.
The location for our daughters graduation in Christchurch was excellent. The staff were very welcoming, and couldnt do enough for you.
The room was a little cramped, and the water pressure in the shower wasnt great.
We both like everything in and around the hotel the cake and the cup of tea was very nice though there is a short walk to the beach through the castle grounds the whole stay was good
Welcome and attentive owners. Location and setting. Swimming pool. Breakfast. Parking.
The hotel was really well placed, very comfortable and it was really great to have a pool. I had a really nice breakfast. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. They took trouble to answer our questions and recommended an excellent restaurant.
Loved the location and the bed was lovely and comfortable
We booked This b&b because of the facilities it offered but they were not available on the day we were there so very disappointed
Very nice hotel in great location for touring the area. Good rooms at a fair price. Lovely pool though we didn't have time to use it. Very nice breakfast and made to feel very welcome.
Shame it doesn't have a bar for an evening drink.
Good size rooms good food nice couple that own the Hotel.
Helpful staff, great facilities in a picturesque setting. Wouldnt change a thing.
Having to leave
Initial introduction to the hotel. Welcoming complimentary refreshments (lovely cake!) Quiet location, lovely setting. Wonderful breakfast. Look forward to a return visit in near future.
Availability of the pool and sauna. Welcome drink and homemade cake on arrival.
It would have helpful to have had some local information/maps available - perhaps an information pack in the lounge. We weren't aware of the local amenities available until the next morning.
Uncomfortable pillows - Flat and Hard. Furniture in room needed updating. Stained chairs and old carpet. Bathroom shower area had surface mould on tiles - a good bleach clean would clear this and bathroom would then be acceptable.
Convenient location. I attended a four day Tableau course at Interworks Christchurch. I was able to walk to and fro each day. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable room.
My room Castle Suite did not have a desk or table to work at. I managed by taking the mirror off the dressing table. However a desk would be a useful addition.
Nice b&b. Room we stayed in needed some attention. The shower broke while we were there. Many apologies from owner but no further remedial action offered for inconvenience during stay in view of any further customer service. I could not trust an intermittently working shower not to get caught out at critical stage of showering so had to continue using the room that wasnt taken every time i wanted to shower lucky there was a spare room available!! Also the bathroom door would not shut properly and it appeared the room was maybe having some work done as there was a small hole in the ceiling. Otherwise a nice relaxed environment and a nice b&b. Galleon pub next door does great food too. Having a car with you is adviseable though.
China was a friendly bubbly person.Very welcoming. complimentary hot drink and home made cake on arrival. use of swimming pool and towels. Bed very comfortable, large room. double aspect windows. use of courtyard garden.nicely decorated. good breakfast.
small ensuite, not enough room for toiletries. having to book the pool on hourly basis. Not able to turn heating off in room - radiheater still hot when turned it too zero. no offer of veggie breakfast menu.
The Hosts were fantastic. Very friendly, polite & couldn't of wished for anything any better. Breakfast was very adequate, freshly cooked & served with a smile & a friendly chat.
My pillows were a little hard & one thin, but this was me. Nothing wrong with the pillows, just not comfortable for me. Loved the service.
Room beautifully decorated with a French theme, located within 5 minutes of peaceful sandy beach.
Bathroom a bit of a squash!
We stayed at The Rothesay last year, had a lovely time and decided on a return visit. Can recommend The Amberwood in Walkford for food.
