Family run very welcoming guest house, large comfortable rooms and a good breakfast what more do you need for a relaxing stay?
One of the rooms we occupied was a little bit dated but apparently due to be refurbished apart from that nothing to complain about.
Jacky was wonderful & done all she could to help in a very very poor situation.
There was a birthday party in the pool which made our night unbearable with noise, disgusting language, music and general young people with NO consideration that it's a hotel where guests PAID to be there. TOTALLY DISGUSTED.
Friendly owner Lovely breakfast
Uncomfortable bed Small en-suite
beautiful decor and comfortable bed, even had a fury hot water bottle for extra comfort as it was very cold outside! Very friendly welcome and generally always wanting to help you.
Well run little hotel. The couple that run it were personable and responsive to us as we didn't know the area and needed to seek advice on a couple of important issues to us. The facility is a very attractive environment
Friendly welcome - tea and mince pies a nice touch Nothing too much trouble Spacious room and comfortable bed Christmas decorations
Bathroom tiny and need updating (Castle suite). Shower water temperature cycled from too hot to too cold. Poor flow rate. Radiators would not turn off so room too hot. Accommodation not in Christchurch as advertised
Was a lovely looking place! room was nice enough!
It was a little far out of town if one has no transport! I found my room to be rather cold! The water pressure was very poor! Plus It took some figuring out how to operate the taps! not very sound proof, kept getting woken up!
Five nights stay excellent room big choice breakfast quick service excellent furniture will recommend & we will be staying again
The room and the breakfast. Thank you for a lovely stay !
The shower might benefit from having a "shelf" for razors, soap etc. My sisters ( 3 person) room had a wee smell of damp but I am sure you know about that already and I appreciate it can be difficult to get rid of because I have the same ongoing problem in one room in my own flat.
Offer of complimentary tea on arrival, free upgraded room (again), excellent breakfast. Friendly host (Michael), proximity to Highcliffe (8 min walk max). Pool very clean and big enough for a good swim session.
I cannot think of any negatives
lovely welcome, very Christmassy, Lovely room and furnishings. very nice breakfast. would go again
Spaciousness of reception and stairs to first floor, pool and sauna, comfy bed and very quiet. Free upgrade to double bedroom was very much appreciated. Breakfast was superb.
I cannot think of anything which was not to my liking about this hotel/b&b.
Location was perfect Hotel was smart and well appointed, room was clean & tidy & bed was comfortable.
We thought the price included breakfast, toilet roll fitting in bathroom was loose, bathroom lighting cord old and dirty, no shower tray, toothbrush mug/glass was missing, tops of the sauce bottles in breakfast room needed cleaning.
freindly comfortable location breakfast
I've booked the smallest single bed room. Since they were not full that night, they gave me one of the nicest suits for the same price. Really nice, helpfull people! Thank you again!
Micheal gave us a friendly welcome, showed us around and made a pot of tea. Very welcome after our journey. The Rothesay was clean, comfortable and we used the swimming pool and sauna each day during our stay. The breakfast was well cooked, with a nice selection of food. I would definitely stay here again. Probably the friendliest, most helpful owners of any Hotel where I have ever stayed.
Not enough time, needed more
We were made to feel very welcome, given a free upgrade on our room and complimentary coffee and cake on arrival. The room was spacious, clean and light. Great location to explore Highcliffe Castle and other surrounding areas.
Location lovely staff clean and airy room (very comfy bed) delicious breakfast handy for Highcliffe castle/beach good pub nearby
A warm welcome, with complimentary tea and cake. Ideal location next door to the Lord Bute where we were attending a wedding reception. Comfortable courtyard room. Delicious breakfast. Would definitely recommend
Location was good. They were lovely staff especially the young girl who greated us! They also let us take our bikes out back, for safety, this we were grateful for. I did mention or ask if they had soya milk, they didn't but the next morning Ilearnt they had got some in for me!
The room (no.10) was too small over crowded with furniture! The shower room was a discrace, holes in the wall! In the bedroom the wall heater was hanging off the wall. The shower smelt damp n musty like an old peoples home. Not impressed at the rate we were charged! Shame we wil not return
Good to know you will not be disappointed. Returned here from a visit a couple of weeks ago. Great room [Room 2], Great breakfast, had a really comfortable nights rest. The hotel was beautiful. The area downstairs was spacious and very nicely decorated. There is a swimming pool which is a bonus and an unexpected surprise. The full English Breakfast was excellent with excellent service. Michael was an excellent hosts, detail that you wouldn't of experienced in any other hotel in the area. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel [B&B] and I have stayed at quite a few in the area on previous visits. This is definitely my favourite Thank you Dee & Michael for making my stay so pleasurable.
Wish I could of stayed longer!
Very nice a clean place, but a bit far from the train station. Very comfortable room and queit place.
Breakfast was excellent other than the use of crusts for toast.
T.V. Could not pick up BBC channels, I think they must be located in a very bad reception area. ITV channels were O.K. Wi-Fi was only available in the reception area having asked the proprietor to re boot their system. Not able to connect in my room.
The location for our daughters graduation in Christchurch was excellent. The staff were very welcoming, and couldnt do enough for you.
The room was a little cramped, and the water pressure in the shower wasnt great.
We both like everything in and around the hotel the cake and the cup of tea was very nice though there is a short walk to the beach through the castle grounds the whole stay was good
