Score from 472 reviews Very good 8/10
Easy to find. Adequate parking, check-in early to ensure a place as this is a pup open to the public. Bar food inexpensive, good selection of beers.
Very large comfortable bed, too large for the small room. Breakfast does not start early enough 7am, for the majority of guests who need to catch early morning car ferries.
In need of updating
We had an overnight stop when we came off the Channel ferry and it was most convenient staying at The Roundabout. We arrived late evening and were greeted by a very helpful lady, who was also serving on the bar. She showed us to our room where a fan was switched on as it was a very warm evening. The room was comfortable and the breakfast next morning was good.
Not A Lot Would not stay at these premises again. Should be a B & B not a Hotel. Priced High, I suspect for its location.
Staffing level was very poor. One staff early evening to serve at the bar and Reception, which was at the other end of the premises. One Staff to take orders and serve meals. Very poor TV reception with no BBC channels in room. Picture kept freezing.
Good Location Good pub food Excellent large family room Friendly Staff
Large family room in need of refurb particularly the bathroom and beds.
The room had enough beds for a family of five which is unusual.
Room very crowded and hot. As it was by a main road the traffic noise was too loud if windows were opened.
Really helpful pleasant staff
Convenient for Portsmouth.
The room was well furnished but in need of a little tlc and attention to detail. There seemed to be some odd odours.
Staff were very friendly
Friendly and attentive staff. Food - both meal and breakfast - very good. Room very clean. Old building that comes complete with genuine creaky floorboards. Although, as name implies, it is right on a roundabout it is not as noisy as we were expecting. Value for money - if you want better then pay three times as much and go down the road!
Bathroom shelf & mirror fell off wall. But this was dealt with as quickly as staff were able to get it done.
Great staff, very homely atmosphere.I'm a coeliac and they supplied gluten free toast for me which was great.Full fry up,scrambled eggs freshly cooked cereals, juices etc available.Lovely features, beams etc, great character
Conveniently close to road to Portsmouth; good sized family room and the convenience of eatig just downstairs in a good restaurant.
Unfortunately breakfast was slow - vert, very slow, so give yourself time, especially if like us you have a boat to catch (which we missed!)
The food and staffing restaurant and bar were excellent. Good value for money.
The whole premises looked tired. The room was very tired and could have done with updating. The bathroom door did not fit properly. Bed not made well one day. Covers just thrown over the bed. Overall fair VFM not good VFM.
Staff generally friendly, welcoming and helpful.
Room was 'tired' and definitely in need of a good revamp. Ensuite small. Although probably not their fault, but being a chef down for Sunday morning breakfast when there were plenty of guests, meant slow service and unlaid/uncleared tables, although staff remained polite and apologetic.
Breakfast and friendly staff.
car parking could be an issue if an event is on.
Really friendly staff who were eager to please, only stayed one night due to a business trip but would be happy to stay again. Maybe not for those who want a quiet eating place as it is situated near a military base and is used by some happy but noisy parties
Website stated breakfast from 6.30am not so, 7.00am we were told, and as we had a ferry to catch, was of concern. We could have a breakfast at 6.45am, but wasn't able to finish it.
Staff were lovely Restaurant was good
The family room was too small. The windows didn't open and there was barely room to stand in the bathroom.
Position to motorway and town
Good hotel, good breakfast, and good choice of menu from bar, plus only a short drive, from hotel to Ferries.
Nothing to dislike.
Easily accessible from Main Road, Good choice of food on Menu, Very friendly staff,
Whole building needs some TLC or refurb, eg double glazing needs repair to stop noise from main road, Bizarre smell in bathroom, I think it was the rubber bath mat, Ample parking but rather awkward,
No shampoo and conditioner in bathroom and staff too busy for pleasantries
Location Staff Breakfast
Small rooms a bit cramped and needs modernising and a deep clean.
good food, helpful staff, good value, easy to find
room a little shabby
Another Home away from home. Felt like home with staff very plenty
