Pet friendly Most of the staff tried their best to sort the problems Room 12 had a walk-in shower
Hideous metal grill at reception Extremely tired and dated looking Dreadful decor Plaster falling off ceiling into bath Lightbulbs not working Hot, stuffy room Couldn't open all windows due to old paint No disabled access rooms No disabled parking Couldn't park either night at hotel
Location ideal. Food very good.Staff friendly and helpful.Room comfortable. Breakfast very good.
No shelf in bathroom, sink loose and leaks a bit. Drinks prices in the bar too expensive.
Bathroom was the smallest I have encountered and it needed improvement to it.
Staff was very friendly and we had no problem in bringing along our 2 dogs (cocker spaniels). Traditional structure, a little bit tire sometimes but bathroom was new and very good. Good table and space for our PC and bags. Pub underneath was noisy (Saturday night) but at midnight it went quiet and we had a good night sleep. Breakfast in the pub (lovely decoration and space!) and very well served even for vegetarians like us. Good location for visiting Portsmouth and the Historic Dockyard.
Hair-dryer weak and cold. Improve the way complimentary tea is presented.
Barman was decent. The drive home was good!
Bedroom; Sticky surfaces including telephone. Broken bathroom lights, broken soap holder, very poor shower, rusty radiator, poor quality grouting, patches of plaster on walls. Bedroom; Blind that wouldn't stay down, sticky surfaces including telephone. Wi-fi wouldn't work on 2nd floor (in our room)
Went on a shopping trip for Portsmouth Xmas fayre easy to find easy to get to town and to road links. Staff were all friendly helpfully and accomadating. We felt very comfortable and welcome. The food both at breakfast and evening meals was wonderful as again was the service all also good value.
Had to wait 30mins for breakfast and when it arrived it was cold first time we booked it was over booked and we stay else where so thought we'd give them a chance don't think will again
Staff were kind and helpful food was VERY good the place was clean Would recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in the area
The shower room was not so good as we had to dry the floor each time we showered.BUT it was very clean
Comfortable beds, Pet friendly, lovely decor
Took us a while to get in, no-one was at the reception, bathroom was filthy (basin and toilet seats were not cleaned)
Good food Friendly staff
I stayed here for 4 nights for business. The only reason I stayed is because I already had payed. I slept in room 8 directly above pub; it noisy, has paper thin walls. Had a family in the room above me, kept me up all night, sounds like elephants we're walking in the room, especially when their kid started running around. Bathroom needs updating. I had a fake eyelash floating in my bath and hairs when I arrived, cold draft in the shower.. There was no remote control. At he breakfast; First day there was apple Juice, rest of the week only Orange juice and cranberry juice. At he buffet bar was only cereal. You have to order toast, Full English or eggs. I think that the £69 a night is way overpriced for what you get.
Excellent location with friendly, helpful staff. Sorted out problem with booking and room straight away. Rooms slightly dated and tatty around the edges but warm and comfortable accomodation. Little limited on the parking when busy. Basic no frills breakfast but cooked to order and fresh.
Staff very helpful food exellent
Silly little bin
The food was great and homemade and the restaurant was warm and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and the sausages were local and it was included in the price. The only member of staff that we saw was Chris ( he was doing everything, bar restaurant and reception ) he was very helpful and friendly. The room itself was ok for what we needed.
The bathroom was a big let down being quite mouldy in places and dirty with cracked wall panels. I couldn't get in the bath because the shower panel had been sealed in place. The bed wasn't particularly comfortable either and left my wife and I with aches and pains in the morning. When entering the room wanting to put the tv on to occupy the children whilst unpacking could not find the remote. Finally found it under the bed after looking in every draw and cupboard.
Service, good quality meals in bar and breakfast
At this great value En-suite room and Breakfast price - would be nit-picking!
Location was very convenient and breakfast was very good The Manager tried very hard to put things right by moving us to another room.
Room being located over the area where a party was taking place as the noise came through the floor. Cracked electric sockets and light switches. Receptionist telling me that my card was rejected the first time it was tried due to there being no money left on it !!
The breakfast was great, we had 2 meals for £12 in the evening and they were better than average.
The decor in the bedroom was dated and the room was generally shabby, hotel was very obviously short staffed and we had to wait a while to be served at the bar and at the table. Overpriced - more like £49 per room rather than £69. Apparently the landlord was hoovering and moving furniture at 3am according to some guests we overheard complaining to the cleaning staff.
The staff are lovely, helpful and friendly. The room was clean and tidy the beds made well and it was great to have a bath in the bathroom.
The large family room was quite hot and as it over looked the busy road we did not want to open the windows due to the noise.
The food was excellent
Rooms were very hot
Location for Porchester Breakfast bed
They had not got our booking King room but bathroom very cramped very small bar; packed with noisy locals.
Lovely breakfast, good service from our waiter.
The staff were excellent - they could not do enough for us . We only had breakfast but this was excellent - a great choice, presented beautifully and cooked just as we asked. We would have liked marmalade on the table but I'm sure if I had asked it would have been provided. Will definitely stay again.
The bathroom could have done with a little updating, but it was clean and functional
