Grand building Clean Good food Friendly receptionist + staff
Bedroom had wallpaper coming off wall. Hard bed - sloping on edge. Duvet was old and lumpy with filling in large clumps with bare areas.
Grade 11 listed building full of warmth and charm. Yes, it needs a lick of paint and a little tlc but staff are aware of this and asking customer's input as to what they would like to see. We were made to feel very welcome.
Breakfast is fresh produce prepared and served in a buffet style. It could be improved by being prepared to order. The offer of an evening meal would benefit the hotel and attract more customers. Afternoon/cream tea is served when preordered. Freshly brewed coffee is available at any time.
Clean room, comfortable beds, free parking.
Several repairs to the carpet with bits of black tape, peeling wallpaper, sloping floors. Guests at a function held their welcome reception in the hotel reception area which completely blocked access to the stairs and reception desk, making it very difficult to get through with cases etc. They even had group photos using both sides of the staircase, making us feel very awkward about trying to make trips to the car for the luggage.
The most depressing, dingy, outdated hotel room I have ever stayed in. Bed very hard and uncomfortable, could not get the tv to work properly, heating not working, unable to get kettle under tap to fill it and we even found part of a biscuit on the floor of the bedroom. Cleaner needs to do a better job.
The staff are excellent, very helpful and friendly.the breakfast was good and once again the staff was good again. I will go back again next month . It was so wonderful to be in a nice hotel as I stayed in the hotel from hell in oadbury on J2 on the M5 a few days ago
The hotel is clean and tidy however, a little tied .
Loved everything about it ,location rooms the bars was really enjoyable and will be returning next year
Staff was friendly and nothing was too much trouble breakfast was really good with choice of cold and hot foods. Only down side was no evening meals avalible which resulted in us having to go eat out and was limited on Saturday as most restaurant were booked up prior to our arrival
The room was clean, which made things more acceptable
A very old fashioned hotel in a state of disrepair, which is not reflected in the photographs, room nothing like the pictures, very misleading. Not worth £65
A better wi fi connection in the rooms will be very helpful
Very helpful staff
Looking a little tired, but everything worked. Wifi limited to lounge area.
The room was clean and the bathroom. The staff are friendly.
The standard of the whole hotel needs to be up dated. Health & Safety issues I feel in lots areas. The carpets have been taped down, which anyone could trip over. The rooms need up dating to the 21st century ! Bathroom clean, but poor with a shower that didn't work properly. Wallpaper in room peeling away. The breakfast was poor. I couldn't eat the bacon as it was so tough and the sausages were very poor quality for the all in price I paid. The hotel boasts it has 3 stars ? I cannot see how or why ? Refurb badly needed.
It was very grand
The bed could do with a new mattress
Breakfast was fine. Hotel lovely building but needs revamping
Bed was awful actually ended up with bad back. Had spare bed in room so put quilt on top of spare bed to try help to stop feeling springs through mattress
reception staff was good and helpful . i would say all the staff are great.
the Hotel is not brilliant however ok for one night . a little tired
heated towel rail didn't work, nor did extractor or shaver socket and mirror light. old and very tatty decor. no restaurant ,website and brochure in hotel state there is one. TV old and almost too small to watch from bed. I'll stop there as I could go on at length
The general grandeur of the building and the excellent breakfast and the bargain price for a standard room.
there was one or two niggles with the room but the hotel is in a ongoing restoration so it's totally understandable
Everything I've no complaints about anything and I would stay again
In the end we were moved to one of the new rooms with a big comfy bed. It was very clean and comfortable
Half the rooms were new and half were old and dirty. They origingally put us on a dirty twin with green carpets that were duck taped down. The bathroom looked like something from a hospital. They moved us to a lovely new room but were charging the same price? How can they justify that
Large, fairly new ensuite bathroom.
Very dilapidated state of bedroom. Noisy location. Up two long flights of stairs and to find our room we had to walk through the emergency fire escape. Heating did not work. Wallpaper peeling off walls. Dated decor with rotting window frame.
The staff were very accommodating
Staff, room, breakfast all very satisfactory.
Venue was the base for a 50th party being held there. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Good value for money though.
Hotel is a bit tired and dated.
The beds were comfortable The noise levels were reasonable
My first designated room was well below three star standard and the staff changed it for a family room which was okay. We had to repair the rattling window frames ourselves to get some sleep and asked for an oil heater in the bedroom as there was no heat. No proper double glazing either, on a busy road. Bathroom smelt of urine and was not at all clean around the skirting boards.
Car park Friendly staff Old world charm Grand entrance/ staircase Good situation
My room Old TV which didn't work Poor mattress needs replacing Shower old and not working right threadbare carpet
Staff and very good breakfast
Room was in need of refurbishment and the bed was very hard and squeaky and frankly needed dumping
