Nice welcome

General ambience of the hotel along with care of guests. The hotel provided us with an excellent base for touring the area.

The lack of other decent eating places in the town with one exception.

Lovely Room plenty of space,Splendid Views of river,Good Beds, two super comfy chairs, Cleaned beautifully each day. Generally well up together no tatty areas,and felt well cared for. Food excellent, and well presented. Could not fault it!

Noisy Saniflow -both our bathroom and next door, and did not clear away efficiently all the time.

Very impressed with the hotel - staff particularly helpful and friendly. Room very clean and comfortable. Had mean in the restaurant on evening of stay and although food was very acceptable we thought slightly expensive. Breakfast was very good with good selection of food.

Little noisy but than it is on a fairly busy road.

When we arrived to Royal hotel the kitchen was working and it was smelly and noisy in the rooms we were given. The staff was helpful and kind and changed the rooms immediately. Very good food and breakfast. And the next day the staff helped a lot with advice on how to get to the seaside.

Great location. Friendly staff. Efficient service. Good sized room and bathroom. Good breakfast. Great price. Handy off-road parking. I'd definitely stay again, if/when I return to Bideford.

The dining room was too old-fashioned and formal for my taste, so I chose to dine elsewhere. The mattress on the bed (I was in a twin room) was a bit too firm.

Location & decor [not too modern]

View from my room was poor as we looked out at the side of the railway line which was above window height.

The food generally poor quality poorly cooked and presented.we had an evening meal and breakfast. The breakfast was not cooked properly.scrambled egg was more like an omlette. Service very poor our evening meal was slow to appear. Arrivals after us had theirmeals long before us.we had to ask for steak knivesand for steak sauces etc all of which should have been automatically ofered. Staff did not take our complant seriously.

The service was excellent, staff friendly and food was very good. I liked the attention to detail,e.g. lighting good in room,unlike many hotels now, notices urging recycling newspapers and turning TV off at wall. Plates hot at meals. We were invited by manager to attend a talk in lounge to an invited group who came by coach. This given by a zoo keeper who brought some animals and who was extremely funny. Interesting outlook over the river Torridge, watched Russian boat being loaded with logs. The site of the hotel was very convenient to walk into the town,

Can't think of any downside really- traffic busy but was convenient for town.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We thought the breakfast was nicely served and very tasty! Just wished we could have stayed longer! It was also good to have a Hotel car park and it was free!

Convenient location for Lundy Ferry. Good parking facilities. Scenic location. Well run and efficient. Receptionists were were very helpful.

We were given a nice room till you opened the window, and an extractor fan from the kitchen started up, leaving the room filled with a fishy smell. When we asked about moving rooms, were told booking on line you dont get a good deal on choice of room .

I was unaware until arriving at The Royal Hotel that i had booked the wrong dates . I am very grateful to Margaret at reception for arranging a change of dates at no extra cost . Thanks also to Booking.Com for their part in the alteration .

Room was a very good size, bathroom was clean and tidy. Staff were very helpful. Hotel was in a very good location parking could be an issue in high season.

Our room was above the kitchen and the extractor fans from below kept coming on all night.
