With a magnificent location, looking out over the harbor and the Dart River, right in the heart of Dartmouth, this 17th-century building offers bright, airy rooms, free Wi-Fi and a stylish restaurant. Privately owned, the award-winning Royal Castle Hotel has a great location, in the center of the pretty town of Dartmouth, with its cobbled streets, intriguing stores and world-famous restaurants and bars. There are 25 rooms with private bathrooms, all of which are unique and individually decorated. Many of the rooms have river views, four-poster beds and spa bathtubs. Every room has a TV, radio and tea/coffee making facilities. With wonderful views out over the river, The Grill Room is the hotel’s stylish and relaxed restaurant. The restaurant offers delicious food made from the best, most fresh produce available locally. The hotel also has 2 bars: the contemporary Harbor bar and the more traditional Galleon bar. Both bars have real open log fires burning in the winter. Hotel Rooms: 25 The most recent booking for this hotel was made on May 25 at 06:31 from United Kingdom.

Well run hotel in ideal location, staff very helpful. The price! I thought that the price charged £200+per night was high for a 3-star hotel. Also my wife fell in our room, down three steps which were not well marked. She hurt her foot.

Liked the general atmosphere at the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing appeared too much trouble. Rooms were clean. Dined in two out of three nights and enjoyed all meals and wine list. Value for money. Third night at Dart Marina but not the selection of menu as at the Royal Castle. The seagulls day and night, even though we live on the coast don't get so much dirt and noise as at Dartmouth. The sat navs need to be reviewed ours bought us down the very narrow back lanes. Obviously not a fault of Dartmouth.

The hotel was excellent, from the moment we arrived until we left the staff couldn't do enough to make our stay a pleasure. The room, right at the top of the hotel was clean, comfortable, warm, light and well appointed. The Grill Room is a superb restaurant with outstanding breakfast and dinner. The bars are very welcoming and the 'non-children' bar makes a nice change. Above all else the staff were exceptional. The thunder of the spin dryers/washing machines etc that caused the floor to shake was a little disconcerting.

The location and friendliness of the staff. Room very comfortable. No lift. Stayed in the top room and it was a bit of a trek. No view and quite expensive.

A friendly and comfortable, family run hotel which is ideally located in the centre of Dartmouth. The staff and the food are both excellent. We would stay again. Some of the decoration is a little bit tired but that also adds to its charm.

The receptionist who showed us to our room was so apologetic and very unhappy that she was unable to change our room as the hotel was completely full. Breakfast next morning was extremely good and the service excellent. The car parking facilities, i.e., our keys handed over, the car parked so that we had access to the boot and next morning the car was parked in the space opposite the hotel ready for our departure. I am 85 years of age and was horrified to find that we had been given a room at the very top of the hotel - room 32 - and as I had a recent hip replacement, I found it extremely difficult to access the room. Unfortunately, after climbing 4 flights of stairs I was unable to have my evening meal in the dining room and both my husband and I had to resort to room service. Whilst this was a very good service, it was extremely uncomfortable trying to eat at such a small table.

We liked the quirky layout of this historical hotel with antique furniture and objets d'art at every turn. Breakfast was good too with the fantastic view across the estuary. We especially appreciated the Receptionist taking the trouble to post my precious address book. There was nothing we didn't like.
