We liked the location and the attention given by very friendly staff. If we wanted to be very picky, we could raise two minor issues, but it would be unfair to highlight these as the hotel was otherwise very good.

The hotel has a unique layout, with rooms of different types spread over several floors. The welcome from Lucy was warm, and the staff in the Grill Room and Galleon Bar were friendly and helpful. There is ample choice on the menus. The location is excellent. The wines are very expensive. Cheapest bottle is £25 but the price quickly rises to at least £40. A large bottle of tonic is £3.

Well run hotel in ideal location, staff very helpful. The price! I thought that the price charged £200+per night was high for a 3-star hotel. Also my wife fell in our room, down three steps which were not well marked. She hurt her foot.

Liked the general atmosphere at the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing appeared too much trouble. Rooms were clean. Dined in two out of three nights and enjoyed all meals and wine list. Value for money. Third night at Dart Marina but not the selection of menu as at the Royal Castle. The seagulls day and night, even though we live on the coast don't get so much dirt and noise as at Dartmouth. The sat navs need to be reviewed ours bought us down the very narrow back lanes. Obviously not a fault of Dartmouth.

The hotel was excellent, from the moment we arrived until we left the staff couldn't do enough to make our stay a pleasure. The room, right at the top of the hotel was clean, comfortable, warm, light and well appointed. The Grill Room is a superb restaurant with outstanding breakfast and dinner. The bars are very welcoming and the 'non-children' bar makes a nice change. Above all else the staff were exceptional. The thunder of the spin dryers/washing machines etc that caused the floor to shake was a little disconcerting.

A friendly and comfortable, family run hotel which is ideally located in the centre of Dartmouth. The staff and the food are both excellent. We would stay again. Some of the decoration is a little bit tired but that also adds to its charm.
