There was an initial issue with our booking and the Hotel followed it up promptly and gave us feedback as soon as we arrived to the Hotel to check in.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious.

Lack of sun loungers in the pool area to allow guests to relax. We had chosen this hotel as we had sought a hotel with leisure facilities, where we could relax for much of the day. Unfortunately this was not possible here.

The beds were cozy The rooms were a great size Close to shops and things Swimming pool on location Great food Service was wonderful - very helpful staff.

No fridges or microwaves in the rooms No face cloths for washing No lift for suitcases going upstairs, and there are lots of steps. Would love to see the bars of soap as opposed to the shampoo gel

The room booked smelt strongly of cigarette smoke, the duvet cover was badly stained- amazed that house keeping even used this. Were moved to another room which was much smaller so we felt that this represented very poor value for money . Also was telephoned 2 days before stay to warn of a wedding reception and that it would be noisy, however how many people can change where to stay at this late stage if it had not been ok ?

The towels and bedding were clean !!

The room was straight out of the 1950's, the furniture consisted of some dilapidated 'stained' (and I mean stained) pine pieces that would not have looked out of place on a council tip. The bathroom was dreadful - I have seen better fittings and fixtures on the TV programme "Homes Under the Hammer". The very large bathroom window that looks out over the rear garden and onto a housing estate is covered with nothing more than a thin net curtain. When you stand in the shower, you must be visible to anyone in the back garden or from the housing estate. I inquired at reception if this curtain was adequate to prevent people looking in and was told that it was impossible for anyone to view inside the room from the garden or rooms to our right. However, I could clearly see a guest lying on his bed in rooms at right angles to ours so if we could see him from our bathroom window he could see inside the bathroom. As Rooms 7-13 are directly above the kitchens you are not only subject to smells & noise but in the morning you have the pleasure of listening to the breakfast chef's favorite morning radio programme which he (or she) like's to do at full volume. I gave this piece the title of "A Saxon hotel in a Saxon town" well, that is being unkind to Saxon's !! To end, we stayed at this hotel last year and it had notices saying it was being re-furbished and would guests please excuse the disruption - it is obvious that they are still waiting to start this planned refurbishment .

they moved us to another room and we received a discount upon check out! Other than that we did not like anything!

This is a terrible place- I can't believe these sorts of 'hotel's' still exist. All tatty and worn around the edges - stuck in the 70's…we arrived late and our orignally booked room was located over 'ballroom' with party in full swing …the entire room was shaking - we asked for a different room - which we were given - it was still noisy but at least you could fall asleep - we gave breakfast a miss after one glance at the tinned fruit ….and that for £130,00 gee whizzz - no way!

Large bedrooms, large bed, powerful shower, staff were great, nothing too much trouble.

Pricing was per person not for the room; decor is very dated; lots of people milling around using the pool who are not hotel guests.

We very much enjoyed the food in the resturant Saturday evening, breakfast was nice, waitresses were very pleasant.

Our shower was just tepid, and a slip mat in the bath, would have been great.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bed was huge and very comfortable.

The basin in room 5 did not empty very well and the shower head needed a good descale. Water pressure in the shower was poor.

The dream - converted monestary, four poster bed (picture on website). The expectation - a luxury retreat as a nice surprise for my wife and family.

    1. road noise (no double glazing): heard general evening traffic and then car racers around roundabout at 11 pm. 2. poor quality finish: flaking paint on outside of building looked shabby (disappointing first impression), fittings and fixtures in bedroom and bathroom, eg gaps around bath panels, hole in panel by toilet.
