Peter,
London
This magnificent 5-star hotel is on the famous Royal Crescent in Bath. It offers fine dining, and a stunning spa leading out onto a picturesque landscaped garden. The Grade I buildings were first occupied in 1775. They are a 15-minute walk from the city-centre, Pump Room baths and Theatre Royal. Bath Spa Rail Station is just a mile away. Each bedroom at The Royal Crescent has an 18th-century-style décor, luxury bedding and flowers. There is free Wi-Fi and paintings from period artists such as Gainsborough. The Bath House Spa is within an original coach house and stables. It has a relaxation pool, plunge tubs, a gym, sauna, steam room and a range of treatments. The beautiful gardens are ideal for a traditional afternoon tea. Dower House Restaurant overlooks the gardens and offers al fresco dining in summer (booking essential). Hotel Rooms: 45, Hotel Chain: Von Essen.

The spa was very nice, staff were friendly and welcoming. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The room was ok, nothing special. TV was very small, there was no mini bar, and even though we were told wifi was available in every room, it was not available in ours, or in the downstairs of our building. It was very disappointing not to be in the main hotel, and we had no idea that this would be the case.

On arrival at the hotel we were impressed by the location & also by the stunning architecture. The young lady who greeted us was most welcoming & gave us a short tour of the hotel & pointed out the facilities whilst also arranging for our luggage to be taken from our car & for the car to be valet parked off site. Room was very nice, well fitted out with comfortable bed. Breakfast & service were excellant & also lunch. The Spa was great & enjoyed using the facilities. Gardens were well kept with tables & comfortable seats outside toenjoy a drink or meal in the sunshine. We arrived early & on asking were advised that room was not ready so went for a walk around Bath. On returning we enjoyed lunch in the gardens as had been told that room was still not ready but someone would tell us when it was - this did not happen & so had to ask again well after the check-in time of 3.00pm which is late anyway. Found that not all our luggage was in the room & someone had to be despatched to retrive missing item. Found that toilet was not working properly & in essence would not flush after a time. Maintenance looked at it but no change. The following day they came out again but could not fix. Reception seemed quite relaxed about us staying in a room with no working toilet in their 5 star hotel. On checking out it was seen that sign on the door had been amended to new guests name so they knowingly were putting someone in a room without a working toilet. Make your own mind up on this. Not all bad with the hotel by a long way as we enjoyed our stay but it needs stronger direction & management to address problems that otherwise detract from guests enjoyment. This is far from a cheap hotel & it sevice needs to match its price. I would reccomend but would qualify.

Peace and quiet. The hotel is 'tired' and needs a lick of paint, new carpets and, attention to room clocks and lamps.

Staff Location Suite number 4 was not private--the bed alcove was far too small--the bathroom was large but antiquated all in all it was not 5 star quality--I believe i would have been better with a De Luxe room with a view which i had booked

This Hotel captures beautifully the Georgian setting of when it was first built. The decor is all in keeping with Georgian times, but it is also pure luxury. The grounds between the two buildings are beautiful and relaxing. They have two amazing copper seats/swings that I couldn't resist relaxing in everytime I passed. The staff were brilliant without being 'over attentive'. Again, many were dressed from Georgian times. The breakfast was heaven. I tried to have a different choice each day. I used the Spa. The pool was amazing, like swimming in a warm bath and I had a facial which was a real treat for me. This was a special anniversary trip and my husband and I would certainly come again. It is also a perfect setting for walking through parks into Town and I recommend the Tour Bus and Boat Trips. Thank you everyone for such a wonderful time xxx

The Garden, the restaurant and the rooms The Spa had no relaxation area and it all looked a bit poor. a pity because the pool was very nice. An afternoon tea could not be arranged in the Spa area.

The Staff were excellent, very helpful. We only used the restaurant for breakfast, very efficient, well prepared. Lovely period setting. Elegant and comfortable. Small room. No jacuzzi in spa. No fridge or Hot drinks facility in the room.

Everything about the hotel and its facilities, its the staff, and the services provided are exceptional. I'd like to spend a week there, relaxing and doing nothing. It's the only place to stay in Bath, and the essence of what the town is about. Look no further.

The location was excellent. We were "upgraded" to a suite which didn't have a working lock and a very uncomfortable bed. Despite having a reservation we were seated half an hour late, then had to endure staff preparing the tables for breakfast having just paid £250 for a meal for two! As recompense we were offered one of the meals for free, however this hardly covered the disappointment we both felt and didn't include drinks - so was £100 off a £600 night in a hotel + travel! I was embarrassed to ask for more off as it would have sullied the romantic weekend I'd bought for my partner for xmas, but I shouldn't have to ask; it should be offered!

On arrival, they upgraded our room, which was absolutely lovely overlooking the gardens and restaurant. Went there to visit bath, and have some quiet relaxim time. The hotel itself its absolutely stunning and the service even better than some 5* hotels I've stayed in England and Wales. The breakfast and restaurant-bar area were excellent so their service. The Spa is really nice, and their treatments great, the place to be if you look for some relaxation. We left our car at the hotel and visited Bath walking to town and on a taxi, is really close, about a mile. Thank you very much, we had a lovely weekend The only fault I could find is that the room we were given didnt have wifi reception, but we managed out and about to check our work emails. We think probably the strenght wasnt enough on the signal, but other than that, all was excellent.

The location means you can walk to everywhere you want to in Bath. The Royal Crescent has a policy of not providing tea and coffee making facilities in the room. For British travellers this was extremely annoying. When I arrive at a hotel after a long journey I like to unwind with a cup of tea whilst I unpack. Similarly, before we go to bed at night my husband and I like to have a decaffeinated coffee. Although we could order a 'hospitality tray', at either of these times do we want to be hanging about waiting for the tray to arrive? They also charge for it (£5.00), which they waived for us, but the whole issue soured our experience of the hotel. The Spa did not live up to our expectations – there is no Jacuzzi. A minor, but irritating niggle is there is no spinner for swimming costumes so it is impossible to get your costume dry before the next time you use it. All of this detracts from the 5*experience

“Comfortable clean rooms, peaceful ambience, very customer focussed and competent staff. Breakfast was just as previous visitors have decribed, a good selection to please most people and on a par with upmarket hotels. Car parking although £10 a day for the service is worth it in Bath.
