The Royal Hotel

I liked everything about my stay at The Royal. I`m an Area Manager and frequently travel to Scotland. I shall definately be staying at The Royal again!

There was nothing that i could find fault with.

The accommodation was lovely & the food in the restaurant was excellent. The staff were very helpful & friendly. Gorgeous old building with interiors done up tastefully

It was clean, smart and everyone was polite

It's was boiling in our room and couldn't turn it down. The extractor fan in the bathroom wasn't working making it worse. Had to listen to quite loud Jeremy Kyle whilst eating my breakfast.

The lack of a fridge as drink lots of flavoured water. The hotel offered to keep them in their fridge in kitchen but would be inconvenient as 2 lots of stairs to get there

The room we had was very inviting and comfortable.

Situated in the middle of Cumnock so easy to get around.

At night you can hear people coming home from the pub which can't be helped.

The rooms were large, clean and comfortable.Disappointed slightly with the fish course but the tattie and leek soup made up for that which was excellent. 2 courses for £9.95 was good. B/fast was very good poached eggs made to perfection.

I regularly stay in hotels all over the uk for both work and leisure and am pleased to say I had discovered a little gem with The Royal Hotel. The hotel was ideally located and well presented. The room was clean, spacious, well equipped and very quiet. The food was not only well priced but a great menu and of a very high standard from the evening meal to cooked breakfast. The staff were plentiful and the service and friendliness really made the stay and the reason to recommend to others. I think it would be hard to find a hotel anywhere for quality rivalled price. Well worth a stay!

I stayed in an executive room that ticked every box apart from the strength of the wireless broadband that was as good as non existent. It was not to much of a problem as my son and I stayed in the downstairs bar area where signal was great however should I have been there on business I would have really needed good working Internet in the room, a very tiny problem that can be easily improved. Please don't let this only negative put you off it is a great hotel.

The service was excellant, great value for money. Would recommend to family and friends and will definatley visit again. Great hospitality, credit to staff and owners.

I booked into the Royal Suite which was very nice and the room was very spacious, free WIFI and parking which was great. Staff were very attentive and pleasant. Breakfast was excellent

The Shower in the Suite was not very good very little power. I had a pint of tennents in the bar on arrival and this was warm so I opted for a cold beer. I ordered Lasagne and chips with coleslaw which was ok but I have eaten better. The bar/restaurant area is extremely hot and the television was quite loud would have been ok for a football match but not Fair City. On check in I received a warm greeting but was spoilt by " oh your in the Royal Suite number 1, you'll get awoke by the church bells at 7am!! sorry about that"

The room we had was excellent. Nicely furnished with plenty of space.

Not really the royals fault but local pub patrons were very noisy past 1 am on a Saturday night.

The royal hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfy and a great size.The food was very good and the choice was exellent i would certainly recommend the chicken curry it was lovely and the strawberry cheese cake yummy.

The two drawbacks were all the stairs. My 92year old mother had a struggle a stair lift would be an asset at the front door as there are loads of stairs as soon as you go in. And It was very noisy on sat night as our room was right above the taxi rank so the noise when the pubs emptied kept me awake.

Staff very friendly polite and helpful. Room was large with lovely views. Food was best we have ever had.

Loud crowds outside window until about 2 am.

From the outside you would not expect much from the hotel, but when you go up the stairs it was beautiful and spotless. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Everything was "please and thank you".the food was fantastic as well.

Just 2 negatives. Firstly there were a few squeaky floorboards but by the 2nd day you would be used to them and 2nd the frame of the bed was made of steel so fairly noisy every time you toss and turn. The mattress and pillows were very comfortable.

We were made welcome,the staff worked hard to please us, the hotel was very well presented & the food was good. We would find it very hard to critcize any aspect of the hotel. It was excellent value for the price & we would return there again.
