service excellant,staff extremely helpful,restaurant food excellant,good breakfast.
Room was up two flights of stairs,no problem at the moment, but could be in future.
Lovely Hotel in a central location
Room was a little hot
the view from the window The bathroom was small so much so that my hubby had trouble sitting on the loo as it was squashed in between the bath and wall
Receptionist was great, genuinely happy to see me not "repeating a script" like most hotels I stay at! made me feel really welcome and offered upgrade room excellent service. I told her when checking out as it so rare to see great service. Staff all very helpful and nice at breakfast all seem to care.
Stayed overnight and didn't realise until wanting a morning shower that it was faulty. Mentioned it on check out so they could get it looked at and the receptionist immediately discounted our room rate by way of an apology. Great way o ensuring repeat custom.
Room was very hot even with cooler fan on. Windows were secondary glazed denying us fresh air.
Enjoyed a meal in the Italian Bistro food and presentation was good and reasonably priced.Lounge was comfortable and pleasant too.
Staff friendly and attentive, dealt with our lack of hot water professionally and quickly. Food was excellent.
Choice of different restaurants associated with the hotel. Excellent food and atmosphere in 62 The Bank. Hotel main restaurant also of a very good standard.
The normally peaceful nights were disturbed on one night only by drunken clubbers in the side alley. A room in another location would overcome this to a degree.
Probably one of the best accommodation options in Barnstaple with good bar and restaurant.
Our room was facing main street and was noisy during the night with pub and club revellers at night and street sweepers in the early morn.
Warm, friendly& efficient staff. Good food, hot & tasty. Comfortable beds.
Rowdy late night revellers outside!
We've stayed at the hotel on several occasions, and it's a generally pleasant experience. Rooms seem to have been upgraded since our last visit and 111 was quite spacious and quiet. Open and covered parking available (once you have worked it out). Staff very nice and efficient, although, on this visit, we didn't eat in the hotel. Good central location.
We thought we might have a "snack" breakfast in the "coffee shop", but abandoned that idea when we couldn't distract the two ladies (who were obviously on duty) from their in-depth conversation. Went to Costa just up the road.
Staff, plush overall outlook, beds, food, cleanliness, tea tray, quietness of room, height of wardrobe, bathroom particularly the performance of the shower.
We liked it all.
Our mews room was comfortable. We really enjoyed the carvery and coffee was served in the lounge where we were able to sit and read the sunday papers at our leisure.
Nothing to dislike. Just an observation that the decor needs to be updated. However, this did not effect the enjoyment of our stay.
Staff were good, the location and the food was good. Hotel had good atmosphere. also clean. The associated food bars were very good.
The room was okay except for the bathroom, which required an update, especially the toilet,
anti social behaviour all night
The hotel is located in the heart of Barnstaple. We only used it as a stopover to go to a venue in the town so can't comment on the facilities in any detail except to say that when we returned at about 11.30 on a Saturday night, I would have liked to have a nightcap but the bar, indeed most of the hotel, was locked down for the night.
That I couldn't get a nightcap! Our 'luxury' room wasn't particularly luxurious with a view of a fire escape through a grimy window but it was adequate. There isn't anything particularly wrong with the place but I wouldn't rush back.
Hotel, Service, Staff and Food are always of a high standard at Brend Hotels
The staff were helpful and friendly throughout our stay and are an asset to the hotel. We enjoyed a lovely room and an excellent dinner and would certainly go again.
Easy atmosphere, good selection of bars and restaurants. Great breakfast.
Choice of eating
The noise from the street at night from the club the attitude of the waiter at breakfast his demeana was one off "i don't want to be there!"
Grand building, great location.
Breakfast expensive, we went to the weatherspoons around the corner.
Friendly staff Beautiful breakfast
I loved the hotels interior, absolutely lovely, the restaurants on site were excellent, we were central to Barnstaple, with all the shopping, bars & restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were very clean.
The noise outside at night, I enjoy a night out & a drink but the noise outside our window was quite bad, not the hotels fault, I appreciate but, our room was above a walkway to the side of the hotel which, everyone on a night out seemed to use as a shortcut and noisily so.
Kept getting woken up by drunks outside, possibly from the local nightclub. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get some siund proofing on your front windows. Hotel wasn't easy to find.
