I loved the hotels interior, absolutely lovely, the restaurants on site were excellent, we were central to Barnstaple, with all the shopping, bars & restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were very clean.

The noise outside at night, I enjoy a night out & a drink but the noise outside our window was quite bad, not the hotels fault, I appreciate but, our room was above a walkway to the side of the hotel which, everyone on a night out seemed to use as a shortcut and noisily so.

Kept getting woken up by drunks outside, possibly from the local nightclub. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get some siund proofing on your front windows. Hotel wasn't easy to find.

Friendly, helpful staff: 'downtown' location with parking facilities

The fact that the piece of A paper(rubbish) at the top of the stairs, on the way to room 414 remained there for the duration of our stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As we got there late there wasn't anywhere open to have a meal and one of the staff rang around the local takeaways and we were able to order, we were also allowed to eat it in the hotel restaurant.

    there's no negative feedback

Excellent location in town centre. Staff friendly, room was clean, and food in their restaurant was great.

The noise from pubs and clubs in town on Saturday night. Our room needs refurbishment. Parking difficult even though it was free.

The location was fab. Staff were helpful but very inexperienced and no very efficient

It was so noisy. There was a party the evening that we were there that went on late into the night and kept us all awake. The following morning we were woken by the kitchen staff shouting at one another at 6.15am!! They have very limited parking which meant our car was blocked in the car park which was fine until the morning! We rang reception to ask for help with bags (no-one showed to help which was difficult with 5 of us and my husband who has a knee problem!!) we gave reception half an hours notice that we would need our car. When we arrived down no-one had started moving the 5 cars that needed to be moved and they couldn't find the keys for several of them! We waited over half an hour. The rooms are very dated and for what we paid I don't think worth the money.

Excellent location for a solo traveler touring the country with an All Line Rail Rover ticket, less than 15 minutes walk from Barnstaple train station. Good price for a very pleasant room and although breakfast was not included this made sense as I had to make an early start. Very pleased with facilities in the room including the bathroom and good supply of tea bags etc. I only really had one evening in Barnstaple but it is a very pleasant town to wander about with delightful river views and interesting buildings. May well be tempted to return provided the price stays reasonable!

    Nothing to dislike really.

The hotel and room were very clean. Lots of options for dining in the hote.l Central location for shops and theatre. The staff were very friendly and helpful. good selection of tea and coffee in the room.

Parking was difficult very limited spaces and slightly away from the hotel. The room 310 was hot (June) a fan was supplied and helped a little. The bed was only 4ft wide any wider and you would no be able to get round the bed. We were on the 3rd floor rooms built under the roof whilst in the room in the evening seagulls would land and run around the roof and screech they could be heard very clearly when it got dark 10:30pm they went but were back at first light 04:30 noisey as ever. If we opened the window for fresh air noise from the extractor fans from the hotel were very loud like a constant traffic noise and then there was the staff room patio area below and they did not talk quietly just as well they did not speak English or we would have known everything they were talking about. Lastly the bathroom very clean and well appointed but crammed into a small space they had a full size bath it would have made more sense to have had a large shower cubicle it would have been more practical as it was difficult getting in and out of the bath to shower.
