The location is perfect. The reception staff were helpful and friendly and obviously embarrassed by the condition of the hotel which is outwith their control. The breakfast selection was vast and the service was great. Our room (515) was a large triple. It was very dated, worn & stained, had handles missing from drawers & poorly repaired ceiling. Old fashioned manual key system & no security chain. Sadly it had the potential to be an amazing contemporary queen sized room. The large bathroom was clean but shower & screen over bath was 1970's relic, walls were cracked and window was mouldy. Again this room had the potential to be a stunning modern showpiece. The hallways are dull and smell very bad. The one lift for 5 floors takes max. 2 people with 2 cases. No assistance available on reception to help with cases etc. We paid £118 per night for the room B&B, don't think its was great value for money. The hotel is always full, they have a captive audience in Oban and the owners should invest some of their profits back into the hotel.

the location - just around the corner from Oban train station, and very close to the harbour front, ferry terminal, bars and seafood places everything was very nice, but for the rooms if you want complete luxury and mind a few crack tiles, flaky paintwork, and cramped bathroom - you may want to look elsewhere.

The hotel is right in the centre of Oban with good access to town and ferry port. Our room was a little out of date, the ceiling had had a water leak and was stained, some plaster missing, the bathroom fittings were old too. No parking on first night, limited car parking space not really highlighted.

We made to feel 'at home' by the friendly attitude of the staff. A maintenance point. We were in room no. 210. The extractor fan in the bathroom was not working, the window can't be opened, so it was full of steam with condensation running down the walls after our showers. I forgot to mention this to Reception when we left.

Convenient. Pleasant staff in reception. 1. Limited car parking 2. One ancient lift for a 4 storey building with about 30 rooms per floor is just not sensible. Getting our luggage to and from our room was a nightmare.

Very conveniently located to the Ferry port for the trip to Mull and then on to Iona. Centrally located in the small port city of Oban, we enjoyed walking the town and found several good restaurants in the area. Parking was limited, though advertised, and not very conveniently located to the hotel...in the back, down a dirty alleyway.

Good breakfast!,friendly staff, good location Small rooms , poorly furnished, cramped andhot at night 0verall the rooms were of low quality and unsatisfactory for a satisfying and comfortable experience. Our bathroom was terrible; cramped, unventilated and poorly equipped. The car parking was limited and overcrowded, the lift arrived occasionally usually after you had given up and used the stairs instead. Apart from the bar, the hotel has the general air of genteel but inevitable deterioration and decay The Hotel could be described as a Dog owners delight but the the owners would be best advised to leave their dogs at the Royal and stay somewhere else

It was convenient. The bathroom was recently and nicely upgraded. The exterior of the building needs repairs. The caulking of the windows in our fourth floor room was falling out. I hope you can find the money to refurbish the entire interior soon. It is getting very shabby.

A traditional comfortable hotel. Offered good service, safe garaging and a very convenient location for a one-night stopover. Apart from the breakfast provided erlier than the normal time, we did not use the hotel's restaurant.

I asked for a room with a view and got that! Lovely view of Oban Bay and harbour. Compact ensuite double room but view was worth that.Hotel is very convenient for trips and shops. Bar food good and entertainment Scottish Night was good fun. We did 3 Isles Trip with CalMac/Bowman Tours from office at harbour.Trip to Mull/Staffa/Iona. We had lovely weather which was a bonus, spending 1 hour on Staffa( Fingal's Cave) stunning scenery and 2 hours on Iona, peaceful and interesting history. We went in August and would recommend you book restaurants in advance since only serve till 8 or 9pm. O'Donnell's Irish Pub on Breadalbane St. signed and worth visit ( food as well). Skipinnish Ceilidh House worth visit £5 per adult if you like your Canadian Barn Dances etc. They teach you steps, so pick simple enough dances! All good fun. Oban was great centre for visits to islands, historic sites -Easedale and Kilmartin- south of Oban worthwhile too.

Town center. Free parking. Free wifi. Esay access to almost everything. Bartender not really up to anything else than just pouring things from a bottle / tap. Breakfast buffe was good. Fast service. Restaurangs and or fishmongers outside (quay 4 min walking) for dinner and lunch was 5 star!!

Location. Helpfulness of staff. Room was adequate but spartan, and I felt that it was overpriced. Parking is a problem unless one arrives early, as the hotel does not have enough parking space for all users..

Comfortable older-style hotel, very clean, very pleasant and friendly staff, location handy for the centre of Oban and the ferry terminal. Excellent buffet-style breakfast. The hotel is an older building and could do with some refurbishment, and though the centre of town location is handy, it also means that you get any noise from local pubs etc.
