Just 500 metres from Oban Railway Station and Oban Ferry Terminal, the Royal offers en suite rooms, free Wi-Fi and free parking. It serves traditional Scottish food and has a whisky bar. Rooms at the Royal Hotel have traditional decor, many with tartan furnishings or curtains. Some rooms have sea views and all rooms have a TV and en suite bathroom. The hotel was built in 1895 and the restaurant retains its high ceilings and large windows with views of the town. Staff, breakfasts. Very creaky floors, noisy toilet cisterns, beds could have been more comfortable. Power to hair dryer had been cut off. Hotels upstairs needs refurbishing.

Excellent breakfast - just ask if you have to get an early ferry - served in a lovely large dining room with friendly staff. Creaking floorboards - it is a victorian building!

Staff brilliant Noise , bearing in mind it's a old building , it was still annoying hearing other guest going to toilet throu the nite and kept me awake , decor very tired thank god the excellent staff helped me forget about my issues was also very cold in room sorry but you did ask

I lived many years in Oban so know the area but did not know the hotel although I have been in before. I enjoyed my stay very much and will certainly stay at the Royal if I go to Oban again.

Breakfasts excellent...good bar...old style hotel but critics must understand it reflects an era, ok by me..short walk (3-4min) from rail station and ferry terminal...had local entertainment in the bar on two nights I was there..very good. On my next trip to Oban I intend to stay at the Royal. Waiting for the lift when lugging luggage (I was on the top floor!)
