Score from 788 reviews Very good
Parking at front and side was good
Quality of accommodation needs a major overhaul...very run down and poor value
The hotel needed a major makeover. The rooms were very sparce, stair banister wobbled, breakfast room very bare, breakfast quite basic
Spacious comfortable room, friendly staff.
the mix up with the booking off the room
Room was fine, staff were nice.
Used soap in the shower twin beds instead of double cooked breakfast of scrambled egg came with plates swimming in water
Great breakfast, very helpful and friendly staff
Unreliable old lift
Staff was wonderful, helpful friendly and ready to please. Breakfast was wonderful and a really great price.
The hotel was very run down and this was reflected in the facilities and rooms. Didn't feel quite safe on the top Floor in that it creaked and groaned quite badly
the staff were absolutely fantastic. they really tried too make the place great.
everything else. the bed sunk in the middle. the bathroom tile was cracked and mouldy everywhere. the shower head was falling off the wall. unclean everywhere in the room stains in the carpet window latches that were broken. if you've ever seen only fools and horses margate one. the villa bella and the royal ivy hotel have a lot in common.
Appalling bed in Room 2. No Wi-Fi, despite your advertising.
Large basic room and bathroom.
Dark stairs. Slight unpleasant smell probably from carpet. Quite expensive for room only.
Big rooms,and bathroom,staff helpful.
thought at the price, breakfast should have been included.
Firstly, the annex that we were accommodated in is not reflective of the hotel advertised. The annex is poorly furnished, staircase badly lit and the facilities are of a much lower standard than we anticipated. We booked a twin bed room and where given a double bed. The mattress was hard and lumpy. Bed side lamps didn't work, had to fight with bathroom door to open and close door. To top it all had to vacate room before 8 am, because the fire alarm was set off by the breakfast being cooked...In all this was not what we expected. We had journeyed for some 12 hours, were hoping for a restful night before we faced a difficult day. As a smoking area is designated, an ashtray would save filling the path! We feel cheated....
2 nights away, location was ideal for us to do sightseeing and visit some old friends. Lovely breakfast, clean room, friendly staff. All in all a great base for our needs, many thanks.
If I had to criticize it would be the fact we had to be back for 2300 hours, however this did not affect us but could affect others in future, perhaps a front door key would have been an idea.
Young man who booked us in was the only positive aspect of this trip
Hotel removed our belongings to another hotel without our knowledge or consent, and staff gave contradictory explanations. No acknowledgement that the room was lawfully ours to occupy. This was distressing as we were celebrating our only sons graduation. Was offered a complimentary return which was not provided on check out. Subsequect email to General Manager Peter McClurg has not provoked response. We will be starting legal action
Nice breakfast , service good .
Bed very uncomfortable ,only one bulb in bathroom.no toilet paper .
Disappointing. Poky little room and poor bathroom. Uncomfortable bed stuffed into corner of room (so access from one side only). Poor lighting - especially staircase to first floor walls of which were painted black (or v dark grey) - tripped on way down. Breakfast indifferent. And overpriced for what it was. Definitely won't stay there again.
Wifi non-existent in rooms, only about 3tv channels, remote not working. Hotel in need of a lot of tlc. Staff on reception quite surly
Good central location.
Our booking was mixed up and we were sent to the wrong hotel (there are two separate premises). Breakfast service was slow - we gave up on my omelette.
good price and location and good size room
no staff when we arrived, internet only working downstairs, not cleaned or maintained very well
big window in our room .
Extra fold down bed put in our room was extremely uncomfortable given we had paid for a triple room and didn't get the three beds we had paid for . Only two cups and tea tray contents for two . No wifi in our room ,one cooked breakfast order was forgotten and I had to ask again for it after waiting 15 minutes . No fan extractor in bathroom or ability to open window . We originally booked into the royal ivy but were moved to the royal and given the poor excuse for a triple room we had paid over 150 pounds for . Not impressed .
Comfortable rooms and large spacious bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful.
I book the Royal Ivy through booking.com, however, when we turned up at the hotel we found it deserted with no one there. After a few phone calls, we found out that the hotel was closed and we had been moved to the Royal Hotel, further down the road. Disappointed with the lack of communication prior to our arrival. Showers were also not the best, with only a light trickle of water.
The room is really spacious and very comfortable. I watched bonfire through the Window - that was wonderful. The hotel is close to the centre of Bridge of Allan. The staff are very friendly.
Online it says I booked Royal Ivy Hotel, but it is actually Royal Hotel. It would be great if it could state that it can be either at Royal hotel or Ivy hotel
We didn't actually stay at the Ivy - the owners also have the Royal and we stayed there as the Ivy was closed. They did have the decency to ring us and tell us a few days ahead and offer to cancel if that was unacceptable. The room was nice and large (there were 3 of us) and comfortable. We didn't dine there, but at a restaurant a few yards away (The Jam-Jar - highly recommended, by us at lest). Breakfast was good and plentiful. A good family oriented mid-price hotel.
Very little, and you would have to be really niggly to pick holes in the place.
The baths were good, the breakfast service was good, good size tv in each room
Despite advertising Wifi in the hotel this was not the case in all the rooms, we had to move to get access
We liked the way breakfast was served.
Fri & Sat nights there were functions, would have been nice to have been informed. Music far too loud, could hear the words! Also one evening asked for drink in bar, waiter couldn't t be bothered, no Baileys didn't offer to check in other bar, attitude take it or leave it. We left it, went elsewhere.
