On the banks of the Lune River, the Holiday Inn Lancaster features an indoor swimming pool and sauna. Just off Junction 34 of the M6 highway, the center of Lancaster is a 30-minute riverside walk...

Located above Lancaster's best known tapas bar, Latinos, this charming hotel provides comfortable, modern rooms with private bathrooms, with a superb view of the historic surroundings.

The close proximity to town
Very old - carpets need replacing and place needs to be updated without losing the charm of the historic character of the hotel
Lovely helpful staff, excellent breakfast, central location, interesting old building. Quiet, clean, interesting view.
Centrally located, relatively cheap, quiet, good breakfast.
Hotel awaiting refurbishment, and it certainly needs it. Lighting in room terrible. No resident lounge. Evening dining facilities suspended, so had to go elsewhere. Soundproofing sub-standard (could hear next-door neighbour babbling endlessly on the phone) and very creaky floorboards, not good if you're padding off to the loo in the night and don't want to wake your neighbours!
great location , friendly staff , old hotel with some original features.
bathroom needs updating. its ok but could be better.
lift old & unreliable, should be replaced for something more modern
Staff ,service , location
Location was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Location, so close to the city centre.
The mattress was abysmal! Only one set of towels, the door outside our bedroom banged all night as people came through. The bar was closed when we came back at 9.50pm on a saturday! It is tired but clean and we were only using it as a base so the decor wasn't an issue. Not sure I would stay again.
Location and charcter
bedroom decor a little dated
Superb staff, always warm..Excellent value for money.
Proximity to restaurants and quirky pubs. Room adequate, coffe facility ok and replenished after first night.
On fourth floor and old fashioned lift bit small, but worked. For the price it was ok, so not really a complaint.
Close to city centre and train station
Literally 5 minutes from the train station, half that to the Lancaster Castle and near lots of shops and places to eat but not too loud traffic. The Waterstones next door is also nice to kill some time.
The bed might be too hard for some, it was okay for us though. The windows were a bit battered and therefore there was a lot of whistling from the wind all night long. My girlfriend and I could not get onto the wifi anywhere in the hotel on either Apple or android phones.
Total value for money. Clean and comfortable stay. Well located.
Owing to one way system getting to car park was hard but this was only a blip.
Staff very good and hotel full of character. Location excellent.
Decor needs rejuvenating. Water leak damage evident in communal areas and mould in bathroom.
Great staff service, comfortable hotel with classic original features.
Needs a revamp and the bathroom cleanliness wasn't up to standard.
Views from bedroom across city to the fells.
Pleasant staff , good location and excellent breakfast.
Twin room was fine but nothing special
Friendly Staff, Good price, Clean Room, Comfy Night
Would of liked a better shower. / enclosed shower but it wasnt a big deal
location. helpful desk staff for clearing up booking problem. excellent breakfast. room had view of the castle.
toilet wouldn`t always flush (but staff attempted to fix problem as soon as we made them aware of it). creaky floorboards throughout
Beautifully outdated in some areas and in need of a makeover in others the staff more than compensated. were charming and helpful. Very good breakfast. I love the history of the place and it's architecture and I don't always want bland.
Breakfast was very good. Staff were very helpful and the centre of town location was very convenient.
Wifi access was dodgy in my room. I chose this hotel for free wifi but every time I left my room I had to re log in which I found mildly irritating.
Convenient for city centre Breakfast was good
Hotel is run down and requires refurbishment which I understand is going to happen shortly
Room and bathroom was filthy and in desperate need of a tidy-up and a good clean. No or very little Hot Water in the shower, beds v uncomfortable and the window was broken. We couldn't find an alternative hotel with availability otherwise we would have stayed somewhere else. This hotel should not be on booking.com as it does not set a good example on star rating/reviews and I personally would not associate my company name with such a poor example of an establishment. The taxi-driver (a local) said that it was a dump 15 years ago and he wouldn't stay there if it was the last resort which says a lot. The fact the receptionist upon check-out didn't ask "Did you enjoy your stay" speaks volumes. It goes without saying that I would not recommend this hotel
excellently located in city centre with car packing included - lovely old building but maintained to modern standard . Reception staff very polite, effficient and helpful. Did not take advantage of breakfast.Have stayed in several hotels/b&bs 'in Lancaster and this has been the best value to date
did not sleep too well as room was a little too warm and couldnt find a way of turning the heating down. Also could hear noisy guests in carpark below so may ask for different room next time - not the hotel's fault
