friendly atmosphere. very polite and helpful staff who would go out of their way to be of assistance. Clean and tidy rooms and hotel in general. Reassuringly expensive. We are not snobbish but the tariff would be prohibitive to raucous chavs. We did enjoy our short stay very much.

beef sandwiches in bar....unacceptably tough beef. Sent them back but was only compensated for them when I requested. We would like to have dined in the restaurant but we cannot eat three courses. One or two courses at the most. We would therefore have wasted money.

Restaurant old fashioned, got my breakfast wrong on1st morning and had run out of lamb that evening. Wi-fi very sporadic in lounge and bar. No bath in our room.

Part of the stairs lack any form of railing and probably contravene safety regulations. This has been to the notice of management which has agreed to rectify the situation. Currently the situation is not 'disabled friendly'

Friendliness and efficiency of staff.

Lack of shelf space in wardrobe - nowhere to put larger foldable items such as sweaters or casual "non-hang" shirts.

Room was uncomfortable - did not have fitted sheets so sheets kept coming out. Waited 20 mins to be served tea.would NEVER stay at that hotel again

Rude bar manager unexpectedly closing the bar (even to residents) before 11pm on Friday evening! Power failures in room.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel well appointed at an excellent location in the town with secure parking. Room comfortable with good facilities.

Bearing in mind location of room I had with a window at street level onto the High Street may be a bit noisy in high season but without trying it out myself I could be wrong !!

Hard bed. Room quite small. They say that children aren't allowed in a room on their own. We got round this as child was 13 but information not on the website.

I loved how old the inn is. Also the fireplace in the pub was super cozy. Although we checked out Saturday morning, the staff let us keep our car parked at the hotel all day while we went fossil hunting.
